It's only higher because of HGSS at all. Masuda is poison to the human characters' popularity. Maybe pay attention to what you're talking about, because the remakes that did have Masuda's credit on them (ORAS, LGPE and BDSP) ended up ruining the reputations of the characters instead of improving them. Even May got hit by it thanks to her redesign
