How do you feel about the rising cost of pokemon cards?Picrel is a picture from my Canadian dollar store.Converted prices are:0.92 USD for 4 pokemon (they don't even sell them in a larger pack)1.10 USD for 15 magic2.12 USD for 15 one piece16 bulk garbage pokemon cards would be almost 4 dollars. The prices at game stores don't seem any cheaper to me.Why is it like this?
>>59042555The cards are the one thing in this franchise I’ve never gotten into so I’m not bothered. Kind of embarrassing seeing people commit legitimate crimes just to scalp tho
Hmm...
>>59042555because pokemon fans will buy them anyway
Those are scam cards. Also buying packs outright to hope for hits is nuts. It's like $6 a pack at the cheapest now, and you have a 1/20 chance of even hitting a basic IR. Trying to get the cards you want can take 500 or more packs. You can masterset most releases for cheaper.
>>59042555Indifferent/amusedI never got into the cards, I had a few as a kid, but never clicked with them. I'd want to say it's funny what no lifers will do with their time, but I know at least part of the psychotic behavior around pokemon cards is nobody has any money, and this is what people who can't find a normal job have to resort to, so it's mostly just sad. Still a little funny though.I saw a gamestop at my mall with a probably fourty person line, around the corner before opening about a month ago, and it took me a minute to realize it was for pokemon cards, when I overheard two people fighting over the value of something. It was like elementary school, except sad because it was adults at ten in the morning. One of them had absolutely shit sense of how to pronounce pokemon names, I do wish I could hear more people who don't care about pokemon butcher names
