I mean, these cartoons are the reason.
Back then cartoons weren't made for kids, it was something to watch befre the movie actually showed up.
Many were for adults. Just pervy or boomer "I hate my mother-in-law" humor. In fact, this scene was animated by Tex and his crew by hiring a real dancer to rotoscope.
People say "ew, furry", but those who know realize we were seeing a dancer. It just happens to take the form of a sexy lizard.
