Despite the sheer amont of shitmons, gen 2 is arguably the generation with the least misses design-wise. How did they do it? Why does its timeless charm make a good chunk of gen alpha/late gen z seethe so much?
I know this gen has low standards but taking a real animal and not even giving it a weird color or shape has to be the absolute bottom of the barrel creatively speaking.

>>59055223its the most "natural" selection of mon choices to date, using very little gimmicks and essentially are just stylized animals and plants. the most "out there" design other than unown and the legendaries is wobbufett lol. conversely, its the same reason why there are so many shitmons, theres not too much of a design element for them to pull from to indicate that these beings are powerful, hence why they had to go overboard with a lot of the gen 4 evo designs to indicate signs of strength

Also the older that get, the more they'll resurface.A few things that make me appreciate them more:> That one Pichu short with the Houndoors and tons of Gen 2 Pokemon > Peak Entei movie> Side games like Pokemon Puzzle Challenge making me like the babies> Modern TCG occasionally printing competitive decks out of mostly Gen 2 mons, like Granbull/Magcargo
