They were very obviously a workaround to GF 'tism about the Eviolite which they've pretty conclusively ditched now that they brought back regular old cross-gen evolutions in SV. So hopefully Mr. Mime, Farfetch'd, Qwilfish, Corsola and Linoone will eventually get regular evolutions.

When pokemon breed they should have a percentage chance of birthing a different form. For regionals, but also for stuff like Basculin and Shellos. It's stupid that two totally distinct pokemon have the same pokedex number, because absolutely nobody treats them as the same pokemon actually, and it just makes sorting them confusing. We get absolutely no mileage out of the supposed "connection" between them. At least if they cross bred into each other it would feel like there was something to justify giving them the same name.

Reminder that cross evolutions are still mostly dead since gen 4 because all of the nostalgia retards complaining that magmortar ruined terrible designs like magmar.

There's only been like a handful of exceptions of ACTUAL cross gen evolutions. There's sylveon, and 3 or 4 other exceptions limited to legends arceus
