Why aren't people more disappointed that Legends wasn't the historical series?
Because the vast majority of humanity are not autistic patternniggers like (You). They introduced the imprint as a new direction for Pokémon, retaining the same slavish copy/paste aspects of their series with it clearly wasn't viable (there's also the fact they set a hard date for the creation of Poké Balls to a few years before L: A, so had locked themselves into being unable to tackle anything older in date due to not having the justification of having them exist in the world, unless set around the time of L: A).
