Please share your personal experiences here, i'd like to estimate just how bad i've got it with my father who thinks this hobby is not good despite me bringing up the 1600's tulip bulb craze or that one card baby ruth or something that people go crazy for that came in a cigarette box years ago... Some of my worst, Comes in a letter envelope, no tracking, 50 pieces of sellotape on every single edge, cover, slit, fold, straight line of the letter, letter is also bent in half so it's the size of the pokemon card inside, card inside is strapped between two pieces of spare cardboard, thats sellotaped too, top-loader has a sticker on it, and sellotape across the top, sleeve inside top loader also has a sticker on it. Thus trying to open and take out the card from all the stuff it's wrapped up in and sellotaped to risks causing damage to the card itself... So a card can easily go from near-mint to poor if i open it badly, hasn't happened yet but i'm not pleased with some of these deliveries, obviously it's a huge huge huge huge variation in how people will pack stuff, but a site like CardMarket should do a packaging instruction guide at the very least I feel...One of the packages that ShadowRider Calyrex VMax in it came in a cardboard box that was really nice, but then they put some stickers, a very small plastic duck, and a stick of strawberry maoam (lol) inside, I mean people are just weird and random and funny and cute... Some packages look like a girl sent it, some packages are just hopeless, and some are super professional and awesome, but if i'm honest i just like the ones that come in an envelope and are very easy to open with minimal sellotape or printed out labels covering envelope folds and shit. Don’t care about Base Set 2, only handful of LC (mostly stuff like holo Dark Persian and holo Dark Vaporeon, ones that were holo for the first time), and don’t feel like investing my house’s worth into e-series. Got complete Base, Jungle, Fossil, Rocket, Southern Islands, Genesis, Discovery, and Revelation. Missing 6 cards for Destiny, but a crazy amount for the Gym sets and 15-20 black star promos. How fucked am I? I do have plenty of duplicates of Base especially, and some near complete Trainer Galleries I’m hoping to trade/sell for the missing cards.
Saw this guy again and he didn't realize the card tanked to shit. He wanted $170 for it but I didn't want to go over $150 for fear of it dropping more.

But the black star promos are mostly pretty affordable — the two major exceptions being Pokemon Center and Lucky Stadium (I’ve basically resigned myself to lacking Lucky Stadium forevermore).Don’t worry about Gym, they’re the worst WotC sets anyway.Though if you have all these in unlimited, you’re extremely fucked, as you’ll have to do it all over again in 1st ed for the Real Experience.
