I've never seen anyone play past the first stage in this one
>>
>>10862794
I'll do it if you donate to my twitch. Twitch viewers don't give a shit about retro games. They just watch Fortnite, Minecraft, or flavors of the month
>>
I did when I got it for Christmas in 2001.
>>
I only ever played this game at a friend's house and it always looked weird due to the 60 fps when every other game was like 30 or less.
>>
It's not worth playing past the first stage.
>>
i wanna say i remember this game.. but i do not..
>>
>everyone in this thread hating on this game
Was I the only person that liked it?
>>
>>10863414
It's an incredible game, sounds like OP got filtered. I would say the game isn't even that challenging unless you're going for all the medals.
>>
>>10862794
Without nostalgia goggles on it's incredibly hard to see and find your enemies, and targeting them with the gamecube stick feels like shit. They perfected gamepad controls much later with the Jedi Starfighter games on PS2. I wanted to like those Rogue Leader games but I only really enjoy the freeflight on Tatooine.
>>
>>10863414
It is widely considered to be one of the greatest games of gen 6
This thread is zoomer revisionism
Especially with fags claiming nothing past the first level is worth playing whn the first level is practically a tutorial
Battle of Endor (stage 9) is fantastic as well as the bonus missions where you play as Vader

The first time I ever played this was via rental when I was like 7. I also couldn't get past the first stage, but that's because I was a dumb-dumb child. Rogue Leader is probably my second favorite SW game after Battlefront 1. I would actually put Rebel Strike above 2 on account of it basically including all of Rogue Leader on-disc, if not for the fact that it's locked to co-op mode.
>>
I remember seeing the Death Star battle and thinking "wow, THIS is it, graphics will never get better than this"
>>
I need to replay this. I remember back then the graphics looked amazing and it ran at 60 fps
>>
>>10862794
I only played the death star stage on a demo kiosk before gamecube came out

Poo poo pee pee, my grandma bought me this despite not knowing what the fuck star wars was
>>
>>10863419
i got filtered like half way or three quarters into it by the difficulty, idk what missions i struggled with, i might go back and replay it, sort of bothers me i couldnt beat it. i also couldnt beat the n64 one maybe it just isnt my game or genre. cool games though. i remember when i got the gamecube one as a kid, my dad, uncle, and another older family member were playing it. same thing happened with starfox 64. good times. was kind of entertaining seeing adults give a fuck about a videogame and abandon the family get together to play it and watch. kek.
>>
You could put the title of this game into YouTube and find countless people doing playthroughs.

Every time I've pirated it over the past 15 years it's crashed on the first stage. So yes, you're right.
>>
Rogue Squadron was always inferior to the chad X-Wing and TIE Fighter games. This was console only IIRC so no doubt spectacularly dumbed down compared to the first one which already felt like a castrated console port to PC.
>>
>>10862794
Yeah you do seem the kind of faggot who would WATCH people play games
>>
>>10864701
saggy tits are ick I'm a big bottom bro now and forever
>>

I couldn't even figure it out. On and off for a decade I played that first level and would get to the part where you have to shoot a missile into the vent and would end up just hitting the wall at the end of the trench and losing. Id fire off missiles like crazy at the end to try and blow it up and it never worked. I genuinely thought my copy was broken. It wasn't until later on I watched the game played on youtube and it turns out you just have to aim pretty low at a small black square that you can barely make out from anything else on screen. They should have made it more obvious, make it more distinct, put a target reticle over it, literally anything. I would have never figured it out in a million years especially on the tiny tv I played it on back then. I still haven't gone back to play the rest, it pissed me off.

The first Rogue Squadron was N64 first, then ported to PC, mustie.

You switched off your targeting computer? What's wrong?

>>
>>10862794
I got past the first mission but I failed on the one where you use Y-Wings to bomb like an asteroid base or something.

This was the first game i boght when i got my Cube, i remember playing every day after school and eventually getting all the gold medals on all missions, that last one were you fly the Vader Tie Interceptor was an absolute bitch to get.

Good times, if only bak then trophies existed i wonder how many people wouldve get the platinum on this game.
>>
>>10862794
used to play this as a kid, i got stuck on the walker stage. I wish they would make more star wars games like this

Use the targeting computer, noodlebrain.
>gamecube stick feels like shit
No, it’s awesome, you were just weaned on hyperzoomer controllers
>jedi starfighter on ps2
Is a shit game.
>I wanted to like those Rogue Leader games but I only really enjoy the freeflight on Tatooine
Try the game again, give it a chance. Agreed that RS3 is kind of lackluster, but the first game and Rogue Leader are both insta-classics.
>>
>>10865072
You were meant to use the force, zoomer.
>>

The best star wars game ever.

Just flight missions, no clunky walking levels, just the straight up greatest hits of the original trilogy with some extra levels from the OG expanded universe fluff.

Great controls, and a good difficulty slope, starts easy enough but can get wicked hard if you want the challenge.

Rogue Squadon 3 had this entire game as co op plus extra 1 player missions, filling in the rest ofbthe OT this game didn't cover (unfortunately a fair amount of on foot missions though)

All this in glorious HD graphics thar STILL HOLD UP TODAY. And all the proper good music from the films, plus more, in brilliant dolby digital surround sound.

PLUS, on rogue squadron 3, the original star wars arcade games as playable bonus levels (albeit the gamecube runs them too fast making it a weird playing experience.)

What more could you want ?

Great game, and if you've been filtered by the first level you're just a retard.

The foot missions are 3’s downfall. You get the majesty of piloting starfighters and then have to endure Rebel Assault-level foot jank. The speeder bike and vehicle missions are also pretty so-so, especially when you got Battlefront about a year later. They should’ve just stuck to fighters imo.
>>
I never liked rougue squadron much or racers. But i did love the original battlefront 2.

>third entry in Rogue Squadron series gets ruined with on foot missions
>third entry in Star Fox series gets ruined with on foot missions
hmm...
>>
>>10864206
Idk I’m still more impressed by some of the videos in this game than even shit in Starfield.
>>
>>10862794

never played the rogue leader, but this was so satisfying in the first game.

imagine if this game had a multiplayer mode where teams would fight to prevent walkers from destroying each other's shield generators, snowspeeders going in for the walkers while x-wings escort.

>>10870997
It’s almost like trying to combine different game genres rarely works out well. I. The case of RS, I just don’t think Factor 5 was up to that for whatever reason. I read they spent a lot of time reengineering the game engine and that took a lot of time. Seems like foot missions really got shortchanged. Then again, they did make their fair share of crap before going down (ie Rebel Assault 2)
>>
>>10871396
Rebel Assault 2 was awesome. I had it on PC and played it all the time.
>>
>>10871412
So did I. I still think it’s one of the worst SW games.
>>
>>10870997
I don't know if you're referring to Adventures as the third game released overall or Assault as the third game following 64 and Adventures, but in either case it's not even a fair comparison. Whether or not you think that stuff belongs in Star Fox is one thing, but they at least feel like functional video games.

The on-foot shit in RS3 practically feels like a very first attempt, as in they didn't have time to refine it in any capacity after it was initially put in. The "gameplay" is literally just moving the stick around and mashing A, iirc you can't even move the camera on your own, it's like a weird semi-fixed angle that follows you. Even the incredibly half-assed segments from Pandemic's first Clone Wars video game where you run around as a Jedi felt more enjoyable.
>>
>>10871889
I don't consider Star Fox Adventures to be a mainline Star Fox game and quite frankly its existence in general was nowhere in my mind as I wrote that post.

Are you sure about that? Even with the nicer output cables, Gamecube couldn't output at 720p.

>using the name of the emulator as a verb
Did they finally fix the targeting computer bug?
