This game has a bad reputation mostly because of its awkward controls, long loading times and weird camera angles. However it's possible to get used to those things and enjoy a it as an RE style game with beat 'em up combat with a lot of options. But the thing is the combat mechanics are fundamentally broken too. You won't necessarily notice on Normal mode, but it becomes pretty evident when you try to take it seriously and play the Challenge missions or Hard/Expert modes. For example, Nina has several grabs that are kind of useful but also very slow. The thing is that you don't get any invincibility frames while doing the grab, so enemies will pummel while you're trying to execute them. Those enemies are completely busted on higher difficulties BTW. Just take a look at this video of a Challenge Mode mission by a guy who is actually good at the game:https://youtu.be/1mimCNC5Z1Y?t=765The enemies are completely braindead, as in braindead aggressive. They all attack you all together at once and never stop. In other action games, they AI is regulated to attack you with a few at the time so you don't get overwhelmed and what you see at the timestamp in the video doesn't happen. But being braindead aggressive wouldn't even be that bad if not for the fact that the enemies gain i-frames during their attack animations, making your own attacks go right through them! This makes combat feel super random unless you have access to a weapon.Several enemies also spam unseeable projectile attacks that knock you on to the ground. Nina can only block in one direction, but enemies attack you at the same time from different directions. It's too bad because I've tried games with unusual controls like Spikeout and Gunvalkyrie and ended up mastering them and having a good time. But this game is so broken that it's almost impossible.Really weird how a high budget game like this ended up being so busted.
>>11686207I will have to try it again. I don't even think I made it into the first fight before I dropped it. The intro lasted too long then I just got bored swimming around the weird Greek pool in the beginning then got bored
>>11686207Wow this is a new level of shovelware. There aren't even levels, just hallway combat in 5 rooms.
>>11686260To be fair those are just the areas it reuses for Challenge mode. The actual story mode takes place in complex sprawling levels.
might give this game a try again on easy, I seem to remember enjoying the exploration but got filtered by the combat
>>11686207Shame to think this could have been a whole franchise if not for the busted combat. They could have copy-pasted Tekken Force mode instead and it probably would have worked better.
