Does Pokémon yellow: special edition still hold up today
no. go back to sleep
so is it a consistent person who just decides 'Mortal Kombat', 'Sega System' etc?these Pokémon ones feel a bit different. i'm worried for you, OP.
I liked how it followed the anime somewhat, like you have to find a Pokemon on your own besides Pikachu to take Brock on and there really aren't many choices besides Butterfree and Confusion.

as a kid I thought having every starter plus pikachu was the sickest team ever. on my first playthrough when all three of them evolved to their final form it was such a blast of dopamine to my little kid brain I still remember it to this day. but looking back on it now having to make an actual starter decision, and not having access to 3 incredibly busted starters plus an OP pikachu is a much better balanced and more fun experience.
The best thing about Yellow in my opinion is the changes they made to Evee and its evolutions so that the rival's can match the player. This was my most fun playthrough of Yellow>hatch 3 lvl 5 Evees in gen 2>trade them to gen 1 as soon as the first pokécenter>use them as starters>evolve them with stones asapEven if you take just one of them and choose how to evolve it, they make really fine starters. Much better than fucking Pikachu.
Not really unless getting the 3 kantoooooo starters matters that much to you
>>12273289But Ash just beat Brock using Pikachu anyway. If it really followed the anime they would have made your Pikachu able to hit ground types with Thundershock.

>>12273306Nidoran gets Double Kick and takes less exp to grind. Nidoking is also a much more versatile Pokemon.

>>12273285It's alright. The sprites are a bit soulless. Red is better.
