Now matter how much trannies and latinxes illegally molest the insides of ps2, you can never properly replicate the sovl and power of the emotion engine

it doesn't matter what hardware features it had. that was more than a quarter century ago. you weren't even born yet.

you sound like those titor conspiracy theorists that think th pc-98 had some secret feature that let a computer from the early 90s magically become powerful enough to run a time machine.

You're replying to the PS2schizo, anon. It's the dude who claims the PS2 was the most powerful console of its generation (despite the consensus being that it was the weakest by a significant margin, not counting the Dreamcast) and always spams the same webms in his bait threads.

GPUs today are multithreaded. The same amount of data can be pushed through a single 128-bit bus on a modern card.

It matters because ps2 is fundamentally different from modern hardware

N64 architecture is fundamentally different from modern hardware, yet there are N64 games running perfectly fine on modern PCs.

N64 was extremely weak off the shelf SGI box nothing special. Ps2 was made by Sony engineers from the ground up

>>
>>12346258
Yeah but they said the same thing for SEGA 32X emulation on the Wii which now runs at 100% on most games with few errors.
>>
It's weird how the ps2 has very few passion projects going on, while far less popular systems have tons of them.
>>
>>12346776
When you consider that there's tons of PS2s out there from it being one of the most-selling consoles of all-time and that they continue to work and that the first PS3s played PS2 games, it makes more sense.

The PCSX2 has always been good for most games. It got huge improvements in the last 5 years, making the original hardware almost trivial at this point.
Original hardware modding has evolved from modchips, HDDs, USB, and now, memory cards. The recent MMCE exploit with memcardpro/sd2psx/ps2memcardgen2 has made things super easy and accessible. Just have one of these, a good micro SD card, and you're good to go.
>>
>>12346154
This is actually true
>>
>>12346229
Did you unironically post an AI chatbot screenshot?
>>
>>12346207
Well, the PS2 wasn't THAT weak. It had a complex architecture that made it hard for multiplatform devs to utilize. And it was the second oldest of the generation. Many games look better on PS2 than Gamecube, Even if they run worse.
>>
>>12346207
>>12347225
I feel like the PS2 and GameCube are actually pretty close. People use the RE4 port as proof that the GC has superior hardware, but I think it would make more sense to just look at the best looking games of each system instead of using a game made for one console then ported to different hardware afterwards
If there's a power gap it's absolutely between the Xbox vs the other two
>>
>>12347425
I agree, using the RE4 port to prove the GameCube is more powerful is kind of unfair. Considering it was meant to be a GC exclusive and was then rushed out due to poor sales for the GC version. The Gamecube was a bit more powerful, but the PS2 had some tricks up it's sleeve as you can see in Gran Turismo 4 and the Jak games.
>>
>>12346137
so theoretically decomped PS2 games would have system requirements close to those of PCs at the time?
>>
>>12347575
No not even modern PC can run Ps2 games with all effects on
>>
>>12347575
Yes and no
Recomps usually run very well, but the devs don't bother targeting period PC hardware and software either, so it probably won't run on an early 00s XP machine due to various reasons including graphics APIs used for the ports
>>
>>12347580
and yet they can be emulated flawlessly on modern PCs, which is a more intensive feat
>>
>>12347585
i'm happy with them just running nicely on low end PCs, which i could definitely see as a priority if brazilians are behind the project
>>
>>12347589
Emulation is an approximation where it fakes the games. Its glitchy with missing effects and speed issues
>>
>>12347598
emulation is software that acts the same way the original hardware does. it has nothing to do with the games. the most popular ps2 emulator can play more than 99% of the original library without any of the issues you mention.

>Emulation is an approximation where it fakes the games. Its glitchy with missing effects and speed issues
It literally depends on the emulator. For example there's practically no significant difference between a real NES and a modern NES emulator, which is why emulators are allowed for SMB1 speedruns for example
>>
>>12347494
>rushed out due to poor sales for the GC version
The GC version wasn't even out when they announced a PS2 port was coming, let alone when they started making it. I still remember the tendie butthurt about how Capcom's announcement possibly prevented people from buying more Gamecubes.

they allow bullshit for convenience instead of being full purists. don't take speedrunners seriously or use them as an example to follow ever again.
