>>12869787>Games weren't altered or censoredlollmao
>>12869787>>TVs had RGB like European TVs.Don't know or care about that>>Games ran at 60hz like in America.Like in America ok>>Games weren't altered or censored like they were for other markets, and didn't have the difficulty raised/lowered. Everything was the original.Mostly true, you should always play the original release version. Sega of America in particular fucked up a lot of Sega games >>Gaming magazines were written by professionals who actually cared about the hobby, not by teenagers who didn't even play the games they were writing about. Contained interviews with developers. Nothing was lost in translation because it was all in the original language that the devs and companies spoke. Not true, the state of Japanese gaming journalism has always been just as egregious as western game journalism. Heavy slant towards easy casual experiences, heavy bias or exclusion of foreign games.>>Arcades survived even into the modern day.Kind of, as a novelty. They are heavily subsidized by the claw machines. China has all of the new machines too, the only difference is that they cost roughly half price per play.>>Home to the best retro arcades in the world.Big if true, but most of those retro arcade cabs were made in China and I heard that where they were manufactured, around Guangzhou, has the best selection. Never saw for myselfI love Japan and its contributions to gaming, but you are heavily underrating PC. Japan had a small presence on there, compared to USA, Europe, and Taiwan, and there are thousands of great games on PC. You're acting like only arcade and console exists.
>>12869793what game is this?
>>12869805>plagas>Leon>AshleyResident Evil 4
>>12869793Which retro game is this?
>>12869803>most of those retro arcade cabs were made in ChinaNo they weren't. All of those cabinets were manufactured during the era when video game hardware and CRT displays were manufactured in Japan. The metal cabinets can be made anywhere but were probably produced locally due to cost of transport. Sanwa and Seimitsu produced their parts in Japan back in those days, not sure if they still do today. And PC gaming sucked back in the vr days.
>>12869831>And PC gaming sucked back in the vr days.no it didnt
>>12869809So it's Japanese, which means nothing was removed because the Japanese version is the original
>>12869849Yes it did
>>12869856RE4 was developed in Japan but pretty much made for the USIt even came out in the US first. The US GameCube version of RE4 is pretty much the original version
>>12869861>made for the USSo it doesn't matter
>>12869787>Posts fds game, which didnt support RGB,and only composite if you have the av famicom
>>12869856It's amazing how this is such a retarded, yet common, belief. This boils down to>It's Japanese so it's perfection and nothing wrong could ever have happened and it's how the devs intended it!
>>12869805Holy fucking newfag >>>/v/ or better yet >>>/r/eddit
>>12869787That's really only true for certain consoles like the Famicom,Super Famicom and especially the PC Engine. The N64 and GameCube both had substantial more games in the North American market and the US models are the superior versions of those platforms. Similar thing with the Sega Master System where Europe and Brazil had far more games and support than the Japanese model.
>>12869924There are only 182 NES/FC games that released in all 3 regions?Anyway, this sort of data is always flawed to begin with because they treat "PAL" as "one region" which it was NOT. Even as far as Europe is concerned (not counting other PAL territories) it wasn't "a" region in the NES days and a lot of games were only released in 1 or 2 countries and not other countries and vice versa.
