Golden Sun 1 and 2. The art style is great. Some of really pushed the boundries of what the GBA could realistically handle. The music is amazing. I reallt enjoy exploring, the puzzles, all the different regions, and using the magic system to interact with the world. The djinn/psynergy/class/weapon specials system really allowed for a very creative way to build the team. I have never done the same run twice. The story is pretty good, with characters that don't (usually) feel bland. I like the worldbuilding idea of it being a flat earth being held up by magic, but is now melting away because magic got turned off by bad guys. I like having GS1 be more linear and TLA being more open, it is nice having both.I wish it was a bit more difficult. It is very easy to be insanely powerful with a bit of knowledge, and there really is only a few checks for that power in the secret bosses. I like the ability to transfer saves, it just takes forever to do a gold save with the codes. What does /vg/ think? Have any of you played it with fresh, non nastalgia eyes and have an opinion on how well it holds up compared to other JRPGs from the late 90s/early 2000s?

>>12875831This is a particularly comfy GBA rpg but I don't think it holds up very well for a modern zoomer or younger aged gamer. It doesn't hold you hand as much as others on this platform. Some prior game literacy with other JRPGs are needed to wrap your head around the navigation, leveling etc. That being said it's at least an 8/10 on a replay for an oldfart millennial like myself.
