>>3986492It was only villainous in the nineties when healthcare wasn't quite as enragingly expensive in that country, and medical technology was basically just aspirin and penicillin anyway. These days, even Americans have a much more objective understanding of the socio-economic dynamics involved and they're starting to understand that it's just not fucking ok for your right to exist to be contingent upon anything. Let alone your personal wealth while you're an indentured serf under capitalism. So the story definitely falls a bit flat with modern audiences.
