I saw the hype train crashing from ten miles away. It actually surprised me when I learned that the game managed to be a wishlisted #1. The dev just posted some snippets of animation work for combat and how you can tell your troops to back away while facing the enemy and people acted like that shit was the second coming of christ when it's just like such a minuscule thing in the grand scheme of what makes a good game. These x posts where then seemingly extrapolated to imply entirely different things. Instead of "look I made an effort and this cool detail is in the game", it became "hahaha fucking TOTAL WAR SUCKS COMPARED TO THIS THIS GAME WILL BTFO TOTAL WAR". 10 years in dev is a major red flag for me, give me Bannerlord flashbacks, actually the name does as well. Seeing how those devs totally abandoned that game and its still dead to this day, I don't think I'll be buying this. If his product cycle is already that long anyway, I don't see any reason why he won't draw it out for another 4-6 years hoping for sales bumps at each major update. That's how the incentives are set up, especially if he just made a bunch of money solo. No real reason to risk dump into starting a studio when the hype and sales were so high at the outset.
