said one of the first objectives in the game is literally "SURVIVE" so I assumed some of the missions will just be a simple time test. Guess I was wrong.

I changed my strategy to create a vehicle armada to break thru the enemy lines. I still don't have enough of them to destroy the last few enemy vehicles and turrets at their main base, but I did convert my guy into a Mechanic so that I can compensate for the stupid AI and use them as a distraction to slip in and destroy an enemy base with a vehicle of my own. Hopefully it works, otherwise I am starting the mission again and going full aggressive mode instead of researching turrets.

that being said, it's still the best RTS that I have ever played. It's sad that you were a bit too late because the price has been doubled or even tripled for no real reason like a few weeks ago. Previously you could've bought that for 5 bucks normally and for less than a dollar on sales. Now you'd have to stick to key reseller sites.

many don't have it on steam because they still have box releases; patches can be downloaded straight from the guy who has the source code and does all the work for free
it's hard to calculate because as always there's the sp/mod and mp split, but realistically, there is enough people to play 2 3v3 or 4v4 games simultaneously, as long as they show up. sometimes when one of the streamers casts MP games there is not enough space in the room for everyone to play.
If you want to play, you'll find the people for that. 1v1 is low-key dead. That's all I can say.

Humans are for running your research/production and defense or rushes. Human drivers are also the best way to level up your mechanics. Apemen are for minor repairs, manning turrets/barracks and transporting resources where the terrain doesn't let cargo trucks pass.
Specialist units sometimes are enough to get through missions, since the campaign doesn't have any unit restrictions (unlike MP, max 5 specialists and max 15 non-manual vehicles), so you can run 20 bazookas or 200 AI vehicles.

Ah, you can equip your guys with bazookas later on, gotcha. In the earlier missions, basic soldiers seem to be useless when anybody can be turned into a mechanic and be infinitely better with even the shittiest vehicles.

you can win most of the early missions with just soldiers though. either through abusing AI (or the lack of it, unironically) or proxy barracks. In missions where resources are scarce, the enemy has a build-up phase or you're at a severe numbers disadvantage this really can do wonders.

Holy hell I finally completed this mission. Here is my war story:

>Know what's coming
>Build as many vehicles as possible
>Some with solar arrays and some with fuel, latest ones off the production lines also have gatling guns
>Alright, here we go
>Everybody charges, I stay behind not to get killed
>They die every time, bad AI + not enough firepower
>Last vehicle is given to John, I can maybe make a difference
>Switch him to an Engineer, stay behind but help the horde take out turrets and vehicles
>Everybody dies off, but I still have a vehicle
>Even hijack a Russian one
>Eventually, I run out of fuel

one because it's in difficulty order and two because RU is a wild drive story-wise compared to US.
AR very clearly isn't written by the OGs even if they had official notes. It also doesn't have voice acting and way too many missions are pointlessly hard and gimmicky compared to the rest, often violating established lore.

actually most missions have some sort of hidden timers and you get medals for being fast (Medals matter because each medal gives you a chunk of XP to spend on your characters, even the no savescum bonus). Some even go far enough to directly impact the next mission if you're too slow. Visible timers are mostly when you have a very clear goal (no building, destroy the enemy base or collect crates)

Dude, Idk but I remeber beating US campaing when I was 11 or so. At that time my family didn't even have an access to the internet so no guides, no walkthrough. Game really is not that hard until last two or three missions. If I remember correctly (which I can't vouche for) you have to attack Russian base before they take away your command. Basically you have to take initiative and not follow orders blindly.

The established lore is three different stories. Meaning: there is none. On one had, there is the original (ha ha) plotline that's just adaptation of Jeschke's "Last Day Of Creation". Then there is the plotline of the early development game, distancing itself from the source material. THEN there is late dev plotline, when they've realised they are 3 months behind the schedule and shit has to get cut and condensed. Those are effectively three different plotlines for the game.
