For whatever reason, brawl lets you use aerials really fast out of stun, and because of the physics quirks of knockback vs non-knockback, you slow down extremely fast. GnW's bucket stops you almost dead in the air if you use it, and this applies to knockback canceling, ergo bucket braking. Steve has a mechanic called "phantom mlg," which applies to non-tumble hitstun (i.e. multihits and weak combo starters at low %s), where he places a phantom block that completely cancels his knockback and stun. It's very hard to do and practically unnoticeable, but it's busted enough to justify banning the technique at the very least. Of course the issue with steve is less to do with any potential jank he might have (the icies are regarded fondly even though they still have handoffs) and more to do with the fact that he breaks neutral, with tools that let him run away and control every interaction, forcing an unsafe approach or else letting him grind more resources that enhance his entire moveset, especially his broken moves. Very poorly thought through characterUnrelated, but I tried out the new P+ version. It's okay. If you like P+ and all its weirdness and jank, you will like it, but I can't go back after developing something that feels objectively better in my opinion
