I've been using a shity Chinese android (Huawei) phone for about 10 years, (I'm guessing) it's super old but would honestly be happy continuing to use it if i hadn't really started to notice how slow it is and that everyone HAS to use their phones for more and more stuff, so yeah, I actually do NEED something that works better. I travel quite a bit, but nearly always have a small lightweight laptop with me, so, the new phone will still mostly be 'just' a phone, (I'm pretty sure I'm kidding myself thinking like this tho, aren't I?) but that's not really an option anymore, is it. Pretty much all I use it for other than a PHONE, is:-Banking/Crypto wallet/exchange apsProtonmailAirbnbUberSpotifyWhatsApp/Telegram/Signal/etcShazamFirefoxA couple of very old and non intensive gamesI need to start using gps/maps - been using a standalone thing forever.Not much of a picture taker, don't fb/insta/twitter it'll be nice to have a semi-decent camera, but for me- ALL cameras on 'regular' phones made in the last 5 years are great.That's about it. Cool story, right?Was going to get a Pixel 7 a few months back but didn't for some reason, now leaning towards getting a Samsung S21 Ultra, seems pretty sweet... I'm starting to SLIGHTLY give a shit about something I've tried pretty hard to not give a shit about for years. I'm very open to listening to any of you who can school me or recommend something as I know NOTHING about phones. Also! >>1512025Hey anon. Burger here. If you want something decent, google has a pixel 8a for 300 pounds over at uk amazon. It gets 7 years of OS/security updates so you don't have to worry about le hackerz. Plus you can install grapheneOS.

>>1512076Honestly, I wouldn't personally pick s21 ultra. It doesn't have that much support left (2026 last I checked) and it's a fair bit older than the pixel 8a. It's still up to you tho.if you want, you can always wait for the pixel 9a to release mid-march. Once it drops it'll pretty much crash the entire lineup's pricing.
I've got a Galaxy A53 5G, very pleased with it.Only really use my phone for calling, texting, Chrome, and occasionally the map/GPS app.Camera is decent in good light.
