Hello!I'm not really a big anime watcher, but I have a vivid memory from my childhood that I've been trying to track down. It was an old school Japanese anime that used to come on after school in Asia. this was like 1996 to 1999 period (but it could have been an 80s anime).The final scene of this anime left a strong impression on me as a kid because the hero surprisingly gets shot in the heart in the final scene and falls dramatically off the mountain.What I remember:the hero was wearing a brown uniform (or jacket). He was blond and handsome. The gunshot by the foe was a major surprise. the hero then starts falling in slow-mo and then falls off the mountain (to the right side of the screen) and then theres a long scene of him falling all the way down. I think there was an important love story between the hero and a lady that may or may have not been seeing all of this unfold.I think it was a war anime maybe a world war type thing.It has been impossible looking for this but i know an /a/utist can tell me in a second.

I can't believe im saying this but after literally years of searching i found it.It's called Haikara-san ga Tooru an anime from 1978The hero doesnt get shot, he gets bayonetted in the back and falls off the mountain to the left side of the screen not the right. And it wasnt the last episode it was episode 30 out of 36. Apparently some lady finds him with amnesia and takes him home and makes him believe hes her husband (who died and looks just like him). But eventually he's reunited with and remembers his true love...I just wanted to write this to prevent someone from wasting time looking for it lol.
