Tarot enthusiasts; how do you cope with the fact your "hidden esoteric secrets" can be found in the book section of a commercial childrens toy store?
>>
I've basically concluded that tarot, crystals and witchy shit is just bigfoot, aliens, and crawlers for chicks.
>>
>>37723593
you can literally find a book on any occult topic with the books being written by members of occult groups. there are no secrets any more.
>>
you know you still have to go over the research part. you still gotta read it, and bible and rocket science and other stuff
>>
>>37723593
I'd say it implies tarot is a successful egregore that has a lot of power behind it (people subconsciously belive in it). It's basicly the same reaction a priest would get by seeing bibles in the children section instead
>>
>>37723631
how are these things related in any way?
>>
>>37723593
It's surface level shit. It's to get them into it
>>
>>37723695
Its a bunch of stuff that probably isn't real but makes for fun conversation with friends over drinks. The only difference is one group drinks beer and the other drinks wine coolers.
>>
>>37723593
I'd say that I hope it inspires some youngsters on the path. People getting into spiritual or occult ideas can be a good thing, who knows, some day someone might reach enlightenment because when they were a kid they got curious about tarot cards. We all have to start somewhere and while I will admit I don't like the commercial aspect, I still hope that at least one person manages to grow themselves because of this.

Esoteric secrets cannot be read from books. Finger that points to the moon is not the moon.

The way reality is set up is that all information is a direct communication to you from your God super-conscious. That’s why some ancient people throw bones on the ground to find answers or a myriad of other things. The only real issue is how to interpret the information that is given to you. You could literally buy anything from the store with the intention of it answering a specific question, as long as you know how to read and interpret it, it will give you the answers you’re looking for. Some things are just easier to comprehend. Literally every piece of information you’ve consumed in your entire life has a celestial meaning between the lines.

Wicca and crystals seem like weird woman hobbies sure, but tarot is pretty legit. As a guy, I've gotten good results with it, and most of the skilled tarot readers I know are men. There are also some women.

Based.

"Hidden" knowledge stays hidden because it can only be felt, not thought and compartmentalized with conventional language.

The majority of modern tarot users seem to be more concerned with practicing divination than understanding the more esoteric side of things and how it relates to the tree of life/Qabalah. It’s like most occult knowledge, it’s hidden in plain sight and those who are seeking it will find it. Those who aren’t buy cat tarot decks instead.

And the Love advice book for Couples. I don't think this is a specified kids shelf, more like a general book shelf in a non-book store. Where a Barnes and nobles or something would have sections for every type of book, this store probably has just "books" and like one long shelf

i recently-ish got into carto & tarot. in the past my mind was poisoned against it by gatekeepers who brainwashed me (turns out the biggest anti-witchcraft people are the biggest practitioners) and the fact that the majority of people openly into esoteric stuff are purposefully bad on purpose. deliberately putting out a bad impression, etc.
so we need more good folks into these things to clear stuff up a bit.
cards are fun to play with.
>>
>>37727358
That's still a cute card though eh?

I agree. But sometimes, don't you want to just try all this random shit? Even if it's just for a laugh. I'm jealous that these people can believe in something.

right out of the box, not yet. you gotta *program* them first! aka enchant. which basic playing cards are actually specifically formulated & manufactured for. there's different materials that take to enchantment. when you first open a new deck, the cards are always slippery slidey, loose. reads aren't going to be so great the first few dozen goes. gotta train them. when you program objects, you can feel it in your hands, then the whole deck becomes more cohesive, they quit escaping, the reads get more accurate.
but once you program a deck for carto or suchlike, it'll ONLY do that. any attempts to play soliaire are insta-lose. like up to 5 moves in solitaire with a carto deck and it's lose. no matter how many times you re-deal.

i was given a heavily used deck of Bee cards from a casino, and that had been used to play solitaire so many times it was programmed just for that. won several solitaire games with that.

gotta learn to do more types of spreads and games, cuz i like cards. just haven't gotten a lot of stuff memorized yet, but i've been known to do some pretty good divination reads.
>>
>>37728197
It won't but maybe you can talk to your dead grandfather or some shit? I mean, probably not but It's kinda fun to try. That's my point. Just try to enjoy life.

Undeniably so, but also devoid of basically any symbolism contained in the card it's modeled after. The upside down pentagram is even contradictory in the context of the Magician. It just speaks to the vast disconnect tarot unfortunately has with itself.
>>
>>37723593
I don't believe the cards have any intrinsic magical properties but rather use them as prompt cards for self reflection. Same with crystals, I use them as reminders/prompts.

>>37723593
It's arcane knowledge, just meaning that it's not a secret by obfuscation. It's more something that must be understood to have coherence/power. This definition of arcane is explained in the magician chapter of meditations on the tarot

anybody got any info on the relationship between the tarot and germanic traditions? the oldest decks known are from lombard lands and they were a historically germanic people. there seem to be some obvious parallels in the suits to the germanic tradition, glossed with some more medieval christian/kabbalah concepts. im wondering if the frog freemasons trying to link it to some far afield exotic egyptian mysteries should have instead been looking to the north

Crystals hold energy, which, particularly if you are on psychedelic drugs you can be sensitive enough to for it to be sort of felt, or alter your mood mildly, but there isn't anything else to them than that, it's like incense for hippie girls on acid.

I'm not saying your entirely wrong but this post feela like minimalization of the legit energetic properties of Crystals. Subtle energies are still energies and the fact most modern tech uses crystals and companies like HP are interested in Crystal Skulls should tell you something.
>>
>>37726133

Yup.

There are layers, though. The second layer is that the texts (and cards, especially the Rider-Waite deck, and funny enough, all the Rider-Waite-based decks) tend to be intentionally encrypted. Back in the days, the third layer used to be that the initiated would guard the physical texts in their vaults. This was partly because the texts were extremely valuable monetarily too. Nowadays, when anyone can just download all the grimoires for free, the third and fourth layers are that the vast majority first of all thinks the occult is simply nonsense, or even if they don't, they're most likely too lazy to truly get into it.

>the tree of life/Qabalah.
Those are Jewish and satanic. Demon worshippers would never use a tree of LIFE. Fooling the masses is a virtue for them.
But you are right they don't want to know, I find it very odd how people can use these abilities yet ignore all the implications.
>>
>>37729644
So if tree of life isnt really tree of life then what is tree of husk aka qlippoth really? You have no fucking clue wtf you are talking about so please do stfu.
>>
>>37729694
Brainlet please, lesser occultists making more and more systems doesn't say anything about the original tree of hate. Left hand path systems like the tree are not touched by enlightened teachers.

This is why I lost interest in modern Western occultism. Too much Semitic influence for this Goy. Never understood why so many non Jews are such fangirls for this Archontic system which is used to create a spiritual and moral relativism and make reality into a set of hypothetical symbols.

I’ve done a few years locked up playing cards for 8+ hours a day for literal years and as much as my gut says that’s all bullshit, my head knows not to play casino with a spades deck unless you want to ruin it so… maybe there is some truth to your statement, even if it is only something so vulgar as different game types causing different creases in the cards on a physical level which influences shuffle outcome, even so it would make make sense that what cards come up when in solitaire played now will change what cards come up when playing spades later based off probability

someone said all the info you need is in The Frog Prince. but problem with fairy tales is there's so many different versions and missing pieces. but something about:
- the princess is Sophia, who has a gold ball that fell into either a pond or well.
- the frog represents mankind, and he gets smashed against the wall because a kiss didn't turn him into a prince or smth.
there's this really really obscure short CGI film from the 80s that was pretty funny, but it's part of a TV special so it's at the end of an hour-long documentary / showcase vid. that'd be hard to dig up & isolate.
>>37732955
for a while i was displeased at the rush hack job i did with my first playing card tarot deck, then i kinda wanted a cute one just because. cards were BOGO at the store today, got 2 basic unicorn decks, so hooray i can make a cute tarot deck that's not all rushed and ugly. they're mainly pink/magenta with minimal cyan and yellow.

death is one of my FAVORITE cards due to the art (it's scorpio & hearts)
- the fancy flag
- the skeealoatn rider
- ded kang
- pope talking directly to the skellington
- teen girl looking away, though she knows death comes for us all, so she knows she's delaying the inevitable.
- lil kid gawking in amazement
- the KING of all people is just laying there in the road like a dead rabbit.
so much to unpack.

oh just now i notice the sailboat in the background. the boat like on the river styx and the captain is Karen / Charon who'd like to speak to your manager.
also the City as seen in The Moon. which is water/Pisces/hearts.
- the lobster can't change his shell but he's on a quest of self-improvement
- the dog is the tame side of oneself, the wolf is the wild side of oneself.
- subconscious & dreams
- is the sun rising or setting? it's in a transition phase for sure though.

when one dies, that's only the end of that playthrough. time to try again.

Having met both wicca and tarot enthusiasts, and the most materialistic atheists out there, I'd pick the tarot girls an infinite amount of times over the latter. Although there is a weird convergence where people use tarot but don't think too much about it and remain highly materialistic. In those cases I ask the person "do you believe in it?" and the answer is usually "idk I do it for fun I think?".

one thing that took me a while to realize, was that most definitions given are "advertisey" or they sound fluffy and nonthreatening. for instance the 7s.
7 is a really troublesome number in cards, bc 6 shows a path, but a 7 shows a pip blocking the path. that's why it's such a pesky number. 5 usually represents the body/self, but 5s are always negative.
most readers use cutesy, nonthreatening terms so as to not scare off customers, at the cost of losing accuracy in what they tell. being blunt and straightforward is generally best (just not for business).
>7 Cups = lots of choices
actually means indecision to the point of not choosing at all.
>7 Diamonds = it's worth your time to invest
actually means toiling & slaving away for hours on end
>7 Spades = tricksy
well that's putting it lightly. get ready for a real headache.
>7 Wands = you must be on guard
means your ass gettin beat down, lol.

anyway, we're always in a state of learning. mainly through sheer conditioning and we get a little revelation and "huh" moment every month.

one thing that always gets me is when a zodiac card comes up, and usually it represents a person of that sign. most recently a Saggitarius, Aquarius and Gemini were mentioned. in carto, face cards that bear a visual resemblance or sign element to people will represent persons. since i use playing cards for everything, i get a mix of both.
one of the biggest things i learned was how many cards will have the same meaning, and each card is like a word and each draw a sentence. and there's many ways a sentence can be rephrased with different words.
