The higher up Jesuits know it's all a metaphor, and they decide what the cosmogonies will be and what science will look like at any given time. They provide narratives for the sceptics and conspiracy theorists. They control the military and even the Jews. No one can compete with them because most people have human needs like love, family and security. The Jesuits have none of that.
