This is a thing? I looked into it, I'm Gen Z but I was in a weird gifted program as a kid that no longer exists. They would lock me in a small white room with a beanbag chair and make me do puzzles or just leave me in there. One time I tested the handle and realized it was never locked, but despite making frequent escapes from the general classroom I never tried to escape from the room even knowing I could. I still have nightmares of one of the teachers sharp white acrylics digging into me as she would drag me to the room. My parents had me do a lot of medical tests growing up, and I have an IQ >130, though it's not like I've ever done anything with it. When I graduated the program, a government worker would take me out of my classes every now and then to play chess and checkers with me and ask me questions about what I thought about other people. I had problems as a teenager with stalking, and ended up abusing drugs for the majority of my late teens though I'm clean now. These days I sit in my room in my apartment, I work remote SWE and do nothing with my life except playing the occasional game or watching an anime. Maybe they left me alone because I proved I was useless? Maybe they realized they were wrong about me, or maybe that whole program was bullshit from the start.
