>>18089187Why would you need an alternative to Eau Sauvage? Just get Eau Sauvage.
Cedrat Boise smells as wrong on skin as it does on paper. Thank God I was only memed to buy 2ml of it.
>>18089266Just as a switch up. Plus it is 3x cheaper.
>>18089269It's genuinely one of my least favourite fragrances I've ever smelled. I have no idea why it's so popular, it somehow smells cheaper than CDNIM.
>>18089291Yeah, it’s genuinely one of the worst disappointments I’ve seen. Normally even though I certainly don’t love every fragrance around, I can still admit that most of the fragrances I’ve tried or smelled on someone else are at least ”pleasant” if nothing else, and downright negative reactions are pretty rare. So, normally when I call a fragrance ”bad”, it doesn’t mean that I hate it, it’s just something that is completely forgettable or meh.But this one is actually so bad that I actively dislike it. The initial fruitiness is too synthetic, and the leathery-musky drydown doesn’t mesh with it at all, rather it reminds me of a smoker. Not tobacco in a good way, but smoker in the way of nast residual smell of cigarette smoke.
>>18089300To me it smells like Skittles and liquid smoke. Really awful. I've never smelled Amogus, but that Loewe fragrance that supposedly smells like it was much better.
>>18089178>I share board with people who use phrases such as ' smells kino'Grim
Based Pierre Bourdon
>>18089306It has nothing to do with Amogus except for little fruitiness at start and some drydown smokiness. Yeah, it sounds similar when put like this, but ultimately I can’t see how anyone could seriously compare them as similar fragrances because the experience is completely different, CB basically takes couple of notes from Amogus and then amplifies them into super strong synthy forms. Something like MB Explorer or CDNIM are actually similar, but Cedrat Boise hell no

Todays challenge for /frag/Name one fragrance in your collection that isn't manufactured by a multinational corporation.

>>18089397makes sense for Japs to prefer light fresh scents like Jo Malone, considering their distaste for strong fragrances and lack of tradition of personal fragrance
>>18089416I think it's pretty straight forward, anon. Many niche frags are manufactured, or at handled, by much larger corporations. They're not automatically exempt.
>>18089421current formulation is unrecognizable from vintage. smells more like limes and lemongrass than anything remotely sauvage. sample the vintage via a $20 miniature on ebay or something.

SOTD 95 Percent - Brunswick House. dark and heavy leather and woods, removed from any kind of positivity. probably the most serious (but not formal) fragrance i've smelled. the leather is perfectly blended, not too new/synthetic but also not warm like the skin of a live animal.>>18089249they're not similar at all>>18089348i've been looking at it yesterday, too bad it's discontinued>>18089412my sotd

What happened with Guerlain distribution in the US? You used to be able to buy Habit Rouge and Vetiver at Walgreens, now they don't even sell it in most department stores. What happened?
>>18089269>>18089300Just adding to this that now I have sat through the entire scent all way to the subtle skin scent, and I goddamn still don’t understand what people see in this. Usually I give scents second chances, but this one is a direct disqualification. Are all Mancera / Montale fragrances like this in spirit?
>>18089677I still see L'Homme Ideal every now and then. The old school fragrances probably just don't sell well enough anymore to justify the sort of mass distribution you used to see. Plus, I really don't see many Walgreens that carry real fragrance these days. Most shit at Walgreens is free if you're a minority. Why would you stock expensive shit if it's just going to be shoplifted anyway?
>>18089682>Are all Mancera / Montale fragrances like this in spirit?yes they are both all synthetic slop and you should've known (almost like this general has been rightfully shitting on them since forever)
>>18089677The target audience has died off. Attempting to sell it to brown twinks on 4chan is not a winning strategy
>>18089696Habit Rouge is a perfectly valid clubbing fragrance
is it true that this is AMARF SIR thread?
>>18089699>You can find me in the club, bottle full of bub'>Look, mami, I got the X if you into takin' drugs>I'm into havin' sex, I ain't into makin' love>So come give me a hug if you into gettin' rubbed
>>18089677they’re tightening distribution to reposition themselves as a luxury brand. typical LVMH tactic.
>>18089696>>18089705thank you florida schizo
whats with the habit rouge shilling lately? has LVMH been hiring marketing trolls in india lately or what the fuck
>>18089530At least the EDP was merely alright. Cherries, vanilla and bit of incense, sweet but not in a typical designer fragrance sugar water way, but in a bit deeper way, like dried fruits are sweet. Very linear for a Guerlain scent, stays close to skin but is more persistent than it initially seems (easy to overspray and feel bad about it later), nowhere near as good as user reviews on popular fragrance sites say.
>>18089568Anon sauvage is #6 on the list...
>>18089716It punches above it's weight class in terms of quality compared to similarly priced fragrances. I understand why people like that one
>>18089714no, just a mentally ill floridian who’s obsessed with old people.
>>18089719Yeah, don’t get me wrong, I’d much rather wear it than most designer sweet gourmands, but it still doesn’t really have anything I’d love and the Guerlain name in it kind of works against it due to expectations. It kind of feels less like a Guerlain fragrance, but more like a clubbing fragrance that has grown up, works as a white collar office drone and lives a boring family life with wife, couple of kids and a golden retriever. Which *is* better than being like Eros or 1 Million, but not particularly interesting in artistic sense.
>>18089711Yep, Guerlain prices have been skyrocketing recently.
>>18089714no shilling, I just really like it as a caucasian male in his early 30s> t. not that mentally ill Floridan
>>18089728they did the same thing with rimowa and loro piana, to name 2 recent examples. frankly, it’s amazing they took 20 years to implement these distribution strategies.

I hated it. As I was getting off the car there was this lady in her 30's handing out Easter invitations for a church, and as she hands me one she says " I love that perfume you're wearing, as soon as you opened the car door I could smell it from here". I guess it smells better in the air as I went nose blind to it but I'm surprised it projects that much.

Shitposter aside, is nicolai perfume actually good?
>>18089868Some are better than others, but overall yes. They are quite good.
>>18089868not all of them are amazing, but the best ones are really excellent.
>>18089861>He doxxed himself in a bottle of Bvlgari Aqva This is the funniest part of the whole situation
>>18089868some good ones, none outstanding. many duds with the "oud" line being the worst. also, not a hugely original house in general.
>>18089872complaining that nicolai lacks originality is like complaining that shalimar is a ripoff of emeraude, the correct answer to which is “who cares?”
so basically the only fragrances left on my wishlist are long discontinued, and theres nothing available locallythere are bottles i see for sale in japan, but the usual proxy sites wont send perfume because its flammableis there a way around this?
>>18089868A lot of them lean very heavily feminine to me, but everything I have tried has been good. NYI is massively superior to the other fragrances I've sampled from them though, so they're disappointing in that sense.
>>18089162That's confusing, I'm just going to buy the one with the picture of a sailboat on it again.
>>18089871Nah I’m the one who posted my collection and this is my first time posting in this thread. It is funny that you still seeth about it and think that you can make out my build and ethnicity from a metal reflection.
>>18089922No cap frfr
>>18089923on god?
I'll be honest the la nuit de l'homme longevity is not as bad as the internet claims
>>18089928Most reformulation complaints are largely bullshit. As air gets in the bottle, the fragrance begins to oxidize and will get slightly stronger for a few years before it begins to degrade. If you go through the bottle relatively quickly and open a new one, you will perceive it as weaker then the bottle you just went through, because technically it will be. What is true about the newer bottles of La Nuit is that the cardamom is less prominent.
>when you're smelling things at Sephora and the sales rep asks if you need help with anything
Do you guys spray different fragrances on your dick/ass if you think you'll have sex? I spray ultra male on my balls and ass when I want my ass eaten
>>18089935reformulation neurosis is real as fuck among fragbros, they all want to think that their bottle of whatever l’orealslop is just as special as vintage mitsouko or something.
>>18089945Life Hack: go buy ten bottles of YSL: Myslf and throw them in the back of your closet. In a few years you can sell them on ebay to fragbros for 10x what you paid. YSL Myslf is going to be the one they all throw a shitfit over being nerfed in a few years. I can feel it in my bones.
>wear my dior homo intense to party>Nobody says anything >Faggot wearing Sauvage elixir comes up to group>Girls start commenting that he smells so good and even start smelling his fucking neck >Feel mogged
>>18089949I think about doing this every time a new meme fragrance gets released and youtubers start shilling it. I never actually do it, but I think about it all the time.
>>18089951>dior homo intensebro I love dhi but it aint no houseparty/going out scent
>>18089949>YSL: Myslfis it that loved? personally it was just very sweet to me. not bad but nothing special
>>1808952This can be done with every single batch of Aventus given enough time. I bought my dad a 50 ml bottle in 2018 for father's day and remember people bitching about how it was a terrible batch. Last time I visited him I checked the batch code for shits and it's now being sold for a thousand sheckiedoos.
>>18089956From what I hear it's one a major seller. I've never actually smelled it to be honest with you, but it's being touted as an enormous compliment monster by YouTuber's whose opinions I do not value. Those are usually the frags that do really well with the fragbros
>>18089960This will probably always be the case, but it really shouldn't anymore. People never believe me when I say this, but BlackRock "fixed" Aventus. Pretty much every batch since 2022/early 2023 has been stable. Whether or not it smells like it did in 2010, I have no idea, but I smell it every time I go to Neimen Marcus just to see and it smells the same as the f-batch bottle I own every time now. You get Pineapple/vanilla/musk-ambroxan/birch consistently.
>>18089956nothing YSL has made in the last 20 years has been special. that doesn’t stop fragbros from hyping it up though.
>>18089966The batch variations were never as insane as people said they were. There was a definite difference batch-to-batch, but it was always recognizably the same fragrance.
>>18089966>This will probably always be the caseI don't know, you're already seeing the consequences of Creed's fall from grace in fragcom. Normies never card about batches and that hasn't changed, but it used to be if you had a special meme batch for sale in the facebook/telegram groups, you would get snapped up almost immediately regardless of price. These days bottles will for months unless you are selling under retail
thoughts on le beau edp?
>>18089976I will not even consider purchasing until JPG removes the fig leaf from the bottle's penis. Fucking puritan bullshit
>>18089976fantastic for gay guys
>>18089976kinda boring for coconut, I'd rather pick virgin island water or Malibu Party In The Bay
>>18089976If you want a JPG sweetslop just get Elixir. They are all fairly similar but elixir is the best and most versatile. The only two different from the gay bust line are the OG and the parfum but they are just kinda boring and not worth picking up
>>18089940I kek’d because it reminded me of the time I was in a Macy’s looking to get a sample of Fahrenheit (I was new) and this 70+ year old woman was talking to me about how men back in her day loved it when it was first released, and when I proceeded to talk about the EdP version she had no idea it existed, and when I asked about Eau Sauvage she also had no idea what it was.
>>18089976It's good but I'd only wear it to go to the beach. The best JPG is Le Parfum and unless you live in a cold climate don't bother.

He has literally one single picture where he looks like who he is reputed to be, which is to say some kind of real-life Voldemort, whilst in every other picture he looks like a pudgy doofus like Steven Fry. Every time you turn up for a date from tindr or something and the person looks like a completely different person, you can thank Aleister Crowley. It had never happened prior to this image.

>>18090061Serge Lutens has many good releases that are worth tryingFrederic Malle too, but their pricepoints are prohibitive
>>18090145I find it funny how little OG is talked about today despite the fact that it’a the most flexible scent in the line, and I personally have a hard time seeing it as ”dated” despite the fact youngshits online seem to think so.
Aside from club nuit, is there anything else worthwhile from armaf?

>>18090192Terre d'Hermes style modern transparent mineralic vetiver patchouli spicy fragrance, except with no citrus, a different patchouli molecule and different spicesit's pretty good, I understand why it's the bestseller for the brand. I like it more than Ganymede, it's more "wearable"
>>18090192>>18090195He forgot to mention the wild longevity and projection. Easily a 12+ hour frag with skin scent lasting even longer. Projections and hangs in the air as well, had my gf talk about smelling me across an aisle away. I like it, but I’ll admit the basil note gives it a sour tang that I’m starting to dislike. Also the performance is so good it can be prohibitive for office use.
>>18090204true, it's a very strong performer. for me it's not necessarily a good thing considering it's a fairly linear scent, I get tired of it easilyit's actually become the equivalent to Santal 33 where I live. the niche fragrance that made it big and is worn by every hip alt kid on the block
>>18090155>I find it funny how little OG is talked about todayYou find funny that people aren't talking about a 30 year old fragrance? The OG is only better than the elixir to fragcels, to 99% of people the OG just smells like old people and recommending it over Elixir just shows how disconnected from reality you are or that you are just stuck in your 'MY TASTE IS HECKLIN SUPERIOR' phase feeling some weird satisfaction by hating on popular things
>>18090251eh, the OG Le Male is still pretty modern smelling with that sweet base. you've got stuff like Beau de Jour and At the Barber's coming out, both of those smell more retro than Le Maleit's normal for people who are into a hobby to have different tastes from casuals and it's good to have some different opinions to all the paid shills trying to hype up new releases just because it's their job. it's good to show people that the "brand new thing" isn't the only option
>>18090212Where is that?
>>18090302Warsaw
None of the other spicebombs do it for me after trying this one. Even intense is but a mere shadow of this intoxicating brew.
Does anyone else get an almost cheese-scent out of Grey Flannel? It works great on clothes, but if I put it on skin it smells a bit like cheese. I assume it's from something that's intended to give an animalic note, but it just comes out kind of like dairy.

I fully get it why younger people don’t want to smell like Guerlain’s vision of fragrances etc., but Le Male OG is nothing like that, it’s basically just a less overly sweet and brighter version of the stuffy Parfum or Elixir, notes may differ but the DNA is similar.

Are “travel sized/ sample sized” companies like Scent Bird worth it for colognes (like to try out expensive colognes. For me expensive is anything above $50) I just want something I can spray 4 times a day; and will make my gf wet.

>>18090481the closest comparison is guerlain’s derby, which is a lot more bitter and leathery in a chypre powerhouse style, but chances are you haven’t smelled it either.

>>18090355Percival smells like Fierce in the way that Dylan Blue smells like Bleu de Chanel. Which is to say, they are not really the same fragrance at all. There are similar notes and I can definitely understand how the comparison gets made, but I don't really see how you would mistake one for the other. Maybe they smell similar in the air, but I've never encountered someone wearing Percival in the wild. I never wore Fierce, but I was around during its heyday and remember exactly what that one smells like. You'd see it everywhere and the store used diffusers which literally pumped it in through the vents. If you ever bought something at A&F, it smelled like Fierce until you washed it.

Why is this fragrance suddenly so shilled? Is it that good

>>18090702I missed that part, tbqh.
>>18090697Dior Homme Cologne
>>18090687The lighter side of Sauvage lineup is not bad for summer or especially spring. Elixir is the best of the line (and it’s honestly so different that it’s part of the line by name only), but that one I would leave out of summer use. Parfum is also perhaps too sweet for summer.

Guerlain Vetiver gave me a zoomer check, first sample I genuinely disliked. Maybe I should try agian in 5-10 years
>>18090728It's ok to not like things.
>>18090733agreed, not everyone can be expected to have taste.
>>18090728the secret to enjoying it is it has to mix with the scent of your adult diaper. this provides the animalic base necessary to truly enjoy traditional french perfumery in the age of IFRA regulationsin the absence of an adult diaper, living in India will suffice to provide the necessary fecal base notes

>>18090738There is no such thing as Florida schizo, dear Guerlain Mowgli.
>>18090728I don't dislike it, in fact I kind of love it, but the amount of people in this general who ride or die for oldschool Guerlain is quite grim. It is not a daily driver for someone in their 20s. It is very dressy and best suited to formal occasions. It can work as a signature, but only if your daily wardrobe consists of a nicely fitted suit and tie. If you're wearing this with jeans and a t-shirt you're going to look like a kid who decided to wear his dad's cologne to school. I do not trust for a moment that the people who recommend it here are actually pulling it off.
>>18090753Sounds like something the Florida schizo would say.>>18090758>vetiver>dressyit’s literally a perfume that was sold to the working class mexican market in the 60s, what in the goddamn are you yapping about.

>>18090822>>18090829What year did SL get bought out/reformulated? I have an older bottle of Chergui but I don't know if it's pre-reformulation
>>18090938It's been reformulated a couple times, but I think the biggest change people complain about is when it went from being 50ml bottles with a white label to 50/100ml bottles with the black labels. I have a black label bottle from 2018 that smells great though. Maybe the old formulation was stronger, but for me this seems like the kind of fragrances that works better softer. If it was louder it would come across as aggressive, especially in the opening. There's something I don't care for in the opening, it's almost like a potpourri thing, but when it dries down it becomes one of the best tobacco fragrances I've ever smelled.

I just bought Bleu de Chanel Parfum. What are your thoughts on the Parfum version?I’m thinking about getting Chanel Pour Monsieur next. Been wanting to explore more chypre fragrances.
>>18091007KEK, no, I'm just retarded. I meant Xerjoff Iommi. Also, for the sake of specificity, the full name of the fragrance is Tony Iommi Monkey Special for reasons I do not understand.
>>18091008i’d call BdC the most inconsequential line of perfumes chanel has ever made, but that wouldn’t be fair to the allure series.
>>18090998No. 88 by Czech & Speake London. It's something they actually brag about for some reason
