Seriously though, where does one go from here? This pics feel is that of someone who's at his peak and has achieved anything he wants from life.
Would a more expensive watch be...."better" at this point? This feels genuine and with a lot of soul.
It's like... he didn't find the watch, the watch and him found each other to create this moment of bliss and appreciation of life itself.

I like that one actually. It pulls off the quirky ugly watch but has character unlike the datejust but too big with a tacked on complication (skydweller)

Omega seamaster and speedmaster are better than half of rolex's catalogue but otherwise I agree.
>>
>>18097842

Which one? There's like a million variations.
>>
>>18097851
Seamaster 300, planet ocean, and aqua Terra. The other ones are irrelevant
>>
>>18097746
God look at it.
I don't know what it is about them. It almost has a sort of rugged sci fi vibe going on. Like something you'd see on the wrist of someone who's like a combination of Doc Brown and Indiana Jones.
I like Rolex as a company but I find their designs often hit and miss for me. Certain designs really click for me while others I find garish and ugly. I guess that's anything subjective. I tend to like the more simple Rolex designs as they exude to me Rolex's original purpose as the ultimate tool watch. To me, trying to make a Rolex anything other than that seems antithetical to what they do best.
>>
>>18097883
>Seamaster 300, planet ocean, and aqua Terra. The other ones are irrelevant
There are 278 variations of the Aqua Terra in Omega's catalogue, 50 versions of the Seamaster 300, and 124 different kinds of Planet Ocean.
>>

Get the 34mm, then. Or wait to see if they eventually produce another 37mm.

I just tried on all sizes of the VC Overseas, and the Moser Pioneers. The VC Overseas in 41mm wears ridiculously large. I have a couple of large 42 and 43mm watches that look acceptable.

On a 6.5 inch wrist,
VC
- 41mm - ridiculous lug overhang on all straps. Lugs stick straight out, bracelets do not bend.
- 34mm - felt too small

Moser
- 42.8mm - looked acceptable, but some lug overhang. Lugs hang down.
- 40mm - Good fit

There's no such thing when you're a watch collector, especially if you've got a fickle personality. There's always going to be another watch that strikes your fancy, plus companies are constantly coming out with new models.

It's better to limit yourself to a set number of watches, for example, one daily watch, one dress watch, and one casual watch. Then, if you want to buy something, you have to have the discipline to get rid of one first.

Ah pardon me, I was just being an idiot.

>Not him but after handling Patek/Vacheron/Lange watches in person my interest in Rolex immediately dropped to 0

They serve two different functions for me. This may sound silly talking about a white gold GMT-M2 but a Rolex is not worn like a "luxury" watch. It's a daily wearer, even a beater. I've worn that traveling, hiking, mountain climbing. I've taken it to the top of Mount Whitney and the bottom of Death Valley.

I just pop the Rolex on my wrist and go. When I wind up the Lange, it feels way more special, like an event, if that makes any sense.

>>18098086
I like the Saxonia Thin. My favorite detail is the brushed caseband contrasting with the polished lugs. It's got a good, wearable size without being dainty or being a dinner plate; but I like other thin watches from other brands better and it's also one of the Langes I like least. I like the complicated Langes better.
>>
>>18098085
Obviously the finishing and all is nice.
My concern has been handling servicing. My turnaround for Rolex and Tudor is pretty ok and can be handled in country. GS needs a return to Japan, no one dares to do minor touch ups, even the distributor who handles Seiko servicing themselves. Moser takes 3 to 6 months etc.

They are, but it's hard to find truly good examples. I'd never buy one without being able to examine it myself to make sure the dial isn't cracked and/or amateurishly repaired. The dials are fragile.

>>
>>18098134
Can you blame him when every single watch youtuber inevitably brings it up as a drawback to wearing a blingy watch? All he knows about watches comes from YouTube personalities, he's never actually walked through a city with a long shirt or coat on and realized "hey, wait a minute, nobody is even looking at me enough to avoid walking into me, how the fuck are they going to see what watch I'm wearing? I can't even see my own watch." I've even had assholes try to pick fights with me in New York and my watch never came up.

san martin, proxima, baltany
the holy trinity of chinese shitters.
>>
>>18098224
Yeah, usually you'll pick a smaller waterproof 36-38mm 3 hand watch that's light and utilitarian. Anything along the lines of an explorer or datejust or baby alpinist is generally a good choice, usually you'll go for something with more brushed finishes than polished so it won't pick up too many obvious scratches and you'll probably want it on a bracelet because that truly makes it so you can truly go from doing some light yard work to washing your hands to eat lunch to washing the dishes to going out to see a movie without worrying about how dirty or wet your watch or strap is going to get. If it gets something on it you can literally just run it under some water and dry it off and you won't hurt it.
>>
>>18098236
If there's a Chinese trinity Seagull has to be on it. I think they're the only chinese company that actually makes movements? If you buy a seagull watch it's actually "in house."
>>
>>18098224
>What's the difference between a casual watch and an everyday if you don't dress up everyday? Don't everyday watches (reddit lingo GADA) generally dress up ok too but are not for special occasions?

I think of an everyday watch as something you could wear to work (assuming you're a professional of some sort) and a casual watch is something you'd wear on the weekend. If you never dress up, you certainly don't need a dress watch. Also, there's definite overlap between them.

For example, the quintessential everyday watch is the Rolex Datejust. An example of a casual watch would be something like a diver on a rubber strap or something like an Hublot or APROO.
>>
>>18098240
I'd rather get a Seagull than any of those, until San Martin spins off a separate company that focuses on proper design.

If you can wear a dive watch with a business suit I don't see any good reason you couldn't wear a chronograph or basically anything else you wanted with a suit. A dress watch for casual wear doesn't make a lot of sense to me mostly for practical reasons, like you're just casually milling around the house or about town in a dress watch with 30m water resistance on leather? You don't want to bang it up or get it wet if it's your nice dress watch. The idea that you could wear a field watch for business casual is goofy to me unless it's a particularly polished and dressy one. Like, you're going to wear a dress jacket with a watch on a nato strap with big 24 hour numbers all over it? Really? Why does that work for business casual but not for business formal?

Unironically an F-91W or possibly one of it's close cousins.

Fuck anyone who says it's a meme it is every single time the watch I reach for when I need to do something physical and don't want to feel a watch nor deal with my sweaty wrist swelling and getting uncomfy, the rubber band gives just enough.

Working out? F-91W
Nature hike? F-91W
Mountain biking? F-91W
Gotta move furniture? F-91W
Cutting grass? Well actually for this I use my Hamilto-No of course not I use my F-91 Mother Fucking W.

They're so light and thin and small, you will not notice them ever.

Am I a normie for wanting an omega moon watch because I think it's cool?

I wanted, additionally, one of those moonswatch things but the more I sat down and actually thought about it I realized it would have just been a cope for delayed gratification on the real thing, plus, it might literally be easier to actually purchase a real speedmaster, since it seems like the moonswatches are completely slurped and scalped.

If they were just...available like I could go buy one, I probably still would. I think some of the colors are cool and such, but I'm just not playing that game and I'd rather just have the real one ultimately.

Really the real thing isn't even that pricey for a luxury good/aspirational watch.

>Am I a normie for wanting an omega moon watch because I think it's cool?

Yes. Liking the Speedy Pro is an incredibly basic opinion; however, it's still an excellent watch. It's tough, it works, it looks decent, it doesn't call any attention to itself.
You could wear it every day for the rest of your life.
>>
>>18098902
Invicta's modern catalog has precisely one line that is anywhere close to decent and that is the pro divers, which are blatant rolex copes with seiko movements that cost $80. And half of that $80 is what they pay for the movement. It doesn't take much more money to get a watch with a bezel that actually turns.

You can bitch all day about Hublot being overpriced and ugly, but at least they actually finish their watches and have their own designs and try interesting things like novel case materials. Invicta just excretes literal trash into the market. They have to do buy 2 get 4 free sales to liquidate this crap.

>>
>>18098917
Frankenwatches themselves aren't unethical any more than a chopper-style motorcycle is.

The thing that makes the Mumbai Specials unethical is that they straight-up claim that they're vintage watches when they are nothing of the sort. They're old parts from disparate watches (and even brands) being bodged together. If they were sold as frankens, though, no one would buy one for more than 20 bucks.
>>
>>18098918
I know that, I was just explaining why "what did it cost new?" is an idiotic question. It was never "new," it is a watch that never really existed before an unknown person bubba'd the parts together. In a way i guess you could argue they are unique pieces.

people who don't understand the appeal of the MAN ON THE MOTHERFUCKING MOON watch are lost. They probably don't like Godzilla. They think Optimus Prime is played. What's the appeal to Superman? What, you think Batman is cool? You think the Mustang Bullet is awesome? You think fighter jets are lame? Don't like hot babes in bikinis?

These people are below contempt. The moon watch is cool.

a sports watch with a black face, like a black dial, with a good movement. Automatic. No date window, not a chromo, simple.

>water resistance, day/date, 2nd time zone doesnt matter
