>>46590882I have a question if I have a Steamdeck would VN titles I bought from other storefronts be compatible with SteamOS?
>>46600270compatibility isn't guaranteed and you'd need to do a little extra work to get it set up but yeah it should work for most titles.
Suzukuri Dungeon coming later this year on Steam.
>>46602570Wonder why it took them so long.
>>46603836The Johren agenda. They wanted a Johren monopoly, and only started fully focusing on Steam after flopping hard. And then moved on to other stores as well after Johren fully failed over incompetence. So I assume it just wasn't a high priority and they rater focus on newer titles as it's going to flop regardless where they put it.

https://vndb.org/v499Translation announced by Kagura.
>>46615916Kagura? More like Fapura!I wonder why Alice Soft picked Kagura of all the companies, when they can't even release RPG Maker games bug free or in a timely fashion.

Aoi Tori - April 30th.
>>46616344They have managed to get very good sales numbers on Steam for gameplay titles, which probably is a good selling point when negotiating for a license.
>>46617253Maybe we get to see it in 5 years, and then a few months more till fans fix the bugs.In other news MangaGamer CEO is retiring https://note.com/milktub696/n/n4ce092a6ac73?sub_rt=share_pb
>>46617689>Koji was essential in persuading many of MangaGamer’s key partners—such as Alicesoft, 07th Expansion, CLOCKUP, minori, MOONSTONE, NOVECT, and Waffle just to name a few—to step into the overseas market, and were it not for his leadership and team, it’s an open question as to whether any of these titles would have ever been available in English, let alone sold on Steam. The next CEO seems to be looking sharp. There's a nice future for MG after all.
>>46616344>>46617689Like any of the other companies are any better? They all suck, but like that other anon said at least they know how to get it on Steam.
>>46616344Kagura is really good at making sure their games don't get banned, so it makes sense especially after Alicesoft just got burned with Evenicle 2. Kagura released 150+ titles over the years and like only two have gotten banned so far. If they ever truly wanted to enter the VN market instead of doing a random nukige every now and then, they could probably be a pretty serious competitor for that reason alone.
>>46615916Surprisingly Kagura is doing something that is not dlsite shovelware for once
>>46617689Sad news but I can understand the reason. It makes sense to have genre variety like they used to have with Clockup and Moonstone which they were on track including Rance. But I think the direction MG was heading in was not so good the last few years with weird pickups that trended in odd directions like Gameplay Titles that were not as good as others were picking up or the absence of Loli titles that really could have been picked up and really bad decisions like Kuroinu being episodic. Overall not a bad CEO in the beginning but near the end was falling behind were they used to be. Hopefully the new one does better.
>>46622059Hopefully this is good.
>>46616399It's good by 2001 standards, but I don't know if people will receive it well these days. I think they're adding cheats to the remaster to make it possible to skip all gameplay.
>>46624250if we trust getchu it's fairly popular among japanese, weird because on vndb it barely have any votes. it does look interesting, there's a certain type/moon vibe in the artwork and the premise.
>>46622059>>46622935Looks like an average moege.
>>46628239Well it's not a moege for one.
So, still not a scam?
>>46629978Everyone just pirates Shitravune stuff anyway
>>46629978one of the biggest scam i've ever seen, ever outside the medium. 30 bucks for a single "free" route, this is just shameless.
>>46629978>30$ for a routeThat is some greed there. A lot of companies are trying to get everyone to pay 60$ for everything lately.
>>46629978>paying for a censored productThe only possible scam is that it's so bad it ends up being a waste of time.
>>46629978The price for the main game is fine. The price for the fandisc isn't. However the 40% discount on both means that if you buy both at launch you basically get the fandisc free. I don't feel scammed.
>>46631491>if you buy both at launch you basically get the fandisc freeThat is to say, the main game is $40, but the discounted price of the main game plus the fan disc is $42.
>>46630079That kind of price might make sense if the original game already had a fan TL or something, so there could be people who would only want the extra route (kind of similar to the situation in Japan), but that doesn't apply here.
>>46630066Yeah, it's like those Epic game store exclusives.
JAST looking into doing more Saya fumos https://twitter.com/jastusa/status/1781400576527683636

>>46637130Entropy leads all culture to this kind of glib ironycel spectacle.
>>46637130It already was.
>>46636792Why is Saya so popular anyway?

>>46647180A product of the algorithm driven "aesthetic" culture of ironic weeb twitter and pinterest. Same people who think Sonico is Miku's sister or some shit. It has nothing to do with the game of even the character and cheap chinese made shit like fumos is the perfect merchandizing strategy..
>>46647180>>46647931have you ever thought that it was because saya no uta is a really good visual novel? crazy right?
>>46647180The vn is entry level, decent and short so lots of people have read it.>>46647931The autistic answer
>>46648099>entry levelRetarded phrase, as if they are many translated VNs that are "inaccessible" like things in other mediums can be
>>46648107>Retarded phrasePerfectly applicable phrase, autismo.
>>46648119It isn't. That normally means something simple and easily enjoyable as opposed to things that are more complex and require a more developed taste to appreciate. It doesn't just mean something that gets recommended commonly. Also I don't know if it even fits the latter definition anymore, as the game seems to more off-putting and divisive to zoomshits from what I can tell. I know if you bring the game up on /vn/ or something everyone will just start crying about NTR and call it a bad game. I don't get the impression that it's a common "first VN" anymore. Also I don't think it makes any sense to call something "entry level" when it's objectively superior to most of the shit people commonly read now.
>>46648184>writing all that just to seethe over a common phrasetldr
>>46648193I accept your concession of defeat.
>>46648209Accept this dick in your mouth lmao
>>46648217Anon was so thoroughly defeated he even wants to have hate sex...
>>46648230If pretending to win an argument you imagined makes it better for you.
>>46648242Would you care to address this at least? It's a phenomenon I've legitimately noticed and I'm curious if others have as well>the game seems to more off-putting and divisive to zoomshits from what I can tell. I know if you bring the game up on /vn/ or something everyone will just start crying about NTR and call it a bad game. I don't get the impression that it's a common "first VN" anymore.
>>46648249Just give up dude, zoomers have no attention span and can't read. How they even process VN other than drooling at the pretty pictures on screen is beyond me, though it does explain why they are fine with MTL. Why would you want to hear the opinion of someone who needs a tl;dr for 3 fucking lines of text?
>>46648311I don't care about their opinions per se but I doubt many people my age (30s) end up getting into VNs for the first time. The ones doing that today normally are zoomers. I know when I got into VNs, the first ones people might read were things like Saya, YMK, Tsukihime, etc. I think the situation has changed a lot.
>>46648062>>46648099It's 2024 not 2012, retards, No one experiences anything on a personal or direct level, they watch a youtube essay about it that spoonfeeds them an opinion and then they go online and participate in "discourse" and unfunny meme dissemination. This is the target audience of fumos (a meme in merchandise form).Trust me on this, I make money selling slop to algorithm cattle and will be able to retire before 40 because of it. Peter Payne is in tune as well and understands how the game is played.
>>46648249Irrelevant, zoomers don't read vns. No one buying the Saya plush is under 25. The fact is it has the most votes on vnbd, above f/sn and fucking katawa shoujo. It's entry level.
>>46648249zoomers are made up and /vn/ will call anything ntrshit
>>46648328its still Saya or ddlc. People don't actually dislike loli despite how much they cry about it, which applies to everything else like gore etc.
>>46648528>People don't actually dislike loli despite how much they cry about itThis
>>46648328If you are that interested I guess I can give my opinion. I would say the main reason for your cognitive dissonance over the topic is that the current VN "audience" is fundamentally different in its nature from the older VN audience which you are more familiar with with, and to be even more specific - their entry into the medium of VNs is fundamentally different from mine, and I assume, your. The previous generation's entry point into VNs was more natural - people who got interested in anime/manga adjacent media discovered visual novels, read them, spread the word, and often helped make it easier for others to get into VNs as well. The platforms where this entry point often happened were IRC channels, 4chan boards, forums, and the like - platforms that are focused on communal communication. People who were looking to engage with something new and interesting that would fit their interests were going there to share and discuss their new interests - which is not what most zoomers do on their platforms of choice, which were their entry points - twitter, reddit, youtube, instagram, tiktok and such and this online environment of Zoomers is nothing like the older generation's. Anime and manga aren't a niche interest anymore, so there are a lot of zoomers who aren't particularly invested in those and yet come into contact with the VN medium which leaves them significantly more confused about it. You would ask - but if they are normies who aren't even interested in anime and manga why the hell would they get into VNs in the first place? That's where the second point comes into play - for zoomers social media and online discourse are not about communication and sharing, it's about bragging, showing off, getting attention, self-validation, and other forms of narcissism. They aren't actually interested in VNs, and they are definitely not interested in any meaningful discussion or sharing; I would actually bet good money that most of those so-called VN readers on twitter didn't read any of the VNs they talk about and filled their vndb lists with fake reviews, for clout and attention from others. But why VNs? Well as I said anime and manga are pretty much mainstream now but VNs still have this attractive aura of niche which makes zoomers feel like they have some special unique interest that only they and a chosen few others have, yet it is also adjacent/close enough to something well-liked and mainstream so it is not "too weird" for average terminaly online zoomer. We all know how obsessed zoomers are with being special and different in an age where having unique interests is becoming harder and harder. Despite the aforementioned narcissistic nature of the social platforms zoomers use, they still do have a natural need for some kind of communication so VNs become a convenient topic - a seemingly niche topic adjacent to a popular one that in their view makes them special and interesting for getting into. So finally, why Saya was considered a good and entry-level VN but currently isn't? Well, let's see why it was often recommended in the first place back in the day and why it means nothing now:>Writen by well known and mostly liked author who made a career as an anime director later.Irrelevant for zoomers, both because they possess little actual interest and knowledge on the topics they regurgitate and because his shows are "too old" for zoomers since anything older than a year is too old for them, >Comperatively unique and engaging plot (at least compared to the average moege)If you have no interest in the medium in the first place and don't even plan to read it, this doesn't matter. >Short Again, if you don't read it, the length doesn't matter. Zoomers just watch a review by some sperg in 10 parts of tiktok. >Not too heavy on cultural context and/or medium-specific tropes.AGAIN, none of this matters. So tl;dr - unlike oldfags zoomers don't like or read VNs, they only use the topic for attention whoring on social media to create a false image of unique niche interests, complexity, and knowledge. Therefore a good VN for a zoomer is whatever the current biggest attention whore said in the last week on social media. This >>46648343 guy gets it. What a sad state of affairs.
>>46648924Good post, I think you are correct.
Aoi Tori rejected on steam (not banned, they can still resubmit)
>>46650067>not bannedSoon it will be.
>>46650067I assume that reviewer is someone who wanted to reject the title, couldn't find an actual content reason to ban it based on the Steam build, and so found whatever they could to reject the build.
>>46650067Have to think Shiravune ran into the same problem before. They may put up builds that are effectively placeholders, but their Steam page descriptions correctly identify them as such. Nukitashi 2 for example lists "1+ hours of story" for the Steam build, rather than giving the full game length. That said, Valve has a problem if it takes 2 months for a reviewer to review a 1 hour build.
>>46650288New thread up with the updates for this week.
>>46648924Saya no Uta being entry level now is debatable but what's relevant is that it was. This whole discussion is over why Saya is popular in response to her fumo being popular >>46647180Anyone that actually reads VNs knows her and has probably read the VN, which means there's a large market for Saya fumos. Some people here seem to be under the assumption that the fumos is selling well due to ironic zoomers who just like fumos which is a reaching assumption considering she is objectively popular and well-known (in the vn space). No one properly addressed the question and instead chose to get hung up on muh zoomers and whether the game is entry level or not.
>>46648924holy fuck can't you write out your thoughts in a more concise manner? im not reading all this filler
