HSGI tacos are inferior to esstac pouches.running triple pistol in front of a rifle is weird.

I know kywis are better I'm only using the tacos since I don't want to build another belt for my ak
Tomorrow I'll swap spots on the mags

oh well tacos are fine. The known issue they have is that if your mags are damaged or worn out that rounds can slide forward and catch on the pouch as you try to draw the mag. AK mags are especially prone to this. you end up with a round thats pointing straight out of the top of the mag you have to remove before you can put the mag in the gun.

This is what my belt has looked liked for the last year and a half. I own an AK and a battle rifle but my main fighting kit doesn't need to accommodate funkopop guns.

Yeah I guess my question is for comfort/features, is the ALICE rig far superior or is it the same roughly?
I would use it for short period of time on the flat range, not hiking or anything so I don't really care about the superiority of nylon over cotton.
I love the look of the M1956 pouches, but the belt and suspenders look virtually identical to the ALICE to my eyes so I don't care either way.
>>
>>61489615
lmao goodnight autist
>>
>>61489630
so personally I prefer the m1956 H suspenders to the ALICE Y suspenders. A complete alice gear set is going to be significantly cheaper for you to get than m1956. The m1956 also does not play will with anything but battle rifles. If you are trying to run an AR with 30 round mags you should get alice gear. You can always slap a m1956 h harness on an alice belt set up. I also suggest getting the buttpack and running the harness off of that instead of directly from the belt in the back. It makes the whole thing a lot more comfortable. You can get after market belt pads or make them with a foam sleeping mat. That will make the belt less ass to wear for long periods of time. If you have any other questions ask them before i go to bed. I own literally dozens of web gear sets spanning the development of these systems.
>>61489615
I'm the only one answering gear related questions in this thread.
>>
>>61489652
Thanks for the insight, that is literally the kind of stuff I would like to know!
I live in yurop and there are several sites here selling modern repros. It seems original gear is either in shit shape or more expensive because of reenacting.
So I would probably go for H suspenders + buttpack, and a couple of repro 56 ammo pouches for the look and get any other items in ALICE. Does it make sense or am I off base?
>>
>>61489673
what gun are you trying to use it with?
>>
>>61489679
AR and AK short term, maybe a G3 in the future which is why I don't hate the idea of a dedicated Battle rifle rig
>>
>>61489682
okay so like none of those mags are going to fit in a m1956 mag pouch. its too short to hold the mags. go on youtube and watch videos on the channel "web gear review"

Anyone have any info/experience with Helikon-Tex' DuraCanvas? Im looking for a durable pair of pants, preferably lightweight, and while I was looking for some NyCo Ripstop pants I came across their DuraCanvas pants, but not info about it.
>>
>>61491021
The helikon-tex canvas are really just clones of the similar fjallraven pants which is to say they are okay. If you want a ripstop material you should not go canvas, when canvas rips it rips nicely and doesnt compare to modern ripstop materials. Main advantages of canvas pants are durability compared to straight cotton pants from abrasion and general wear. Also waxxing a nice way pre-gortex membranes to not have wet ass pants all the time.
All that aside
>Durable
Yeah id consider canvas durable. Especially if you are sliding over rocks and shit a lot. If dealing with heaps of debris and tiny sharp pieces of metal it will tear up. The stretch materials also tend to die before canvas on most of these pants. Fjallraven Kebs have stretch material in the crotch area and everytime im going over a fence I feel like its going to snag and totally blow it away, its snagged a couple times and pilled up fast.
>Lightweight
Probably not the first thing that comes to mind with canvas. Its not overly heavy per say but you will for sure want the stretch material heavy ones to cut as much canvas as possible.
>>
>>61489077
I got bitchy because the thin loops had a slight wobble compared to old thick loops

Last thread I asked about thermals and anti-thermal camo, if you have any more recommendations I'd like to hear them.

>>61492515
Nobody here knows anything but buy they cryes, complain about pouches and charge they low speed MANET
>More thermal
Alright you asked:
Yesterday I mentioned standoff and insulation and how most people dont bother beyond that. Here is the beyond that:
https://repository.lib.ncsu.edu/server/api/core/bitstreams/04cd39b4-8511-4c75-bb71-7a31755cd422/content
Tldr: Low emissivity metal doped fabrics further complicate thermal detection. This is how most advanced counter thermal things work.
>GSR
GSR hasnt been getting the love it should, most of the systems in inventory are old and designed for static site employment. The older units tend to pickup a healthy amount of false positives from rain, animals and the like. It was clutch in the older days if you had limited manpower to secure a site with no perimeter. Friend of mine used it back in panama way back when as the jungle went right up to the fenceline and you cant be having that so they peppered the perimeter with GSR and would vector guys onto GSR trips.
Good thing about GSR is that it is really easy to detect and avoid. There are only a few places with GSR CONUS and you really dont want to be poking your head around there.
>LEO
>GSR
I mean if you count static site security around nuclear plants and shit, sure but your avg department has no GSR lol.

GSR has mostly been supplanted by more flexible solutions like computer vision aided thermals and robo dogs
>Where can I get one

a guy I know has a birthday party tomorrow and his gf said he needed a pile jacket for when they go walking on trails in the mountains, so I was with some other ppl in a gift group and there were some salewa or other new ones from mountain brands but they were expensive, so I proposed an ecwcs lvl3 jacket in green, pretty warm and at a decent price.

is that encrypted comms for civilians that usually wouldn't be available?

why is A2 saying big NO?
>>
>>61494057
You can buy encrypted comms right now, dozens of AES256 available radios out there.
This thing attempts to dodge EW by using FHSS in the 915 ISM band. It has shit tier range because its just using off the shelf 915mhz radio stacks in a shitty 3d printed enclosure. No external swappable battery, no channel select and a weak antenna mounting area. All soldered by hand by hohols with the finest chinese soldering gear.

Its a big attempt at making it look like a real product. Some elaborate scheme to steal more of my tax dollars and dodge the draft.
>>
>>61494101
k

idk I only have base knowledge of radios, started studying it recently so I cant have much of an opinion on it, are the encrypted ones surp from the army or actual commercial stuff for civilians?
is it a dumbed down/"backdoored" encryption so it can be tapped in by law enforcement or serious stuff?
>>
>>61494101
>TYT MD-UV390 Plus

>>
>>61494200
Civilian available stuff, mostly in the DMR market will do AES256.
>Is the crypto backdoored?
Thats the cool thing about closed source software, you just get to kinda guess and hope..
Most DMRs have insecurely implemented AES256 which means its weaker than it should be but its still going to be beyond someone with a truck full of computers to crunch your data. Who the fuck knows how well the ukranians did their AES256 on the blackbox of "trust me bro" implemented by the finest "engineers"
You should assume comms are burned and operate correctly accordingly, its a much safer view than assuming your crypto works. Only put out codewords on net, no identifying information, roll frequencies, roll codewords/names to avoid setting patterns and dont transmit any information with a long lifespan across the net.

Real pro of crypto on DMR is that it works like a DCS code on your frequency and basically locks it into only really be useful by your immediate team of DMR users. Anyone else on that frequency is going to get dialup modem noises and their cries of "please switch frequencies" wont fire up your radios speaker at all. Just using it as a way to reject other people and squat a frequency basically.

Spent years thinking about this and finally settled on the MP9
MP9 excellent and literally one of a handful of locked action guns that wont recoil like shit.
In full auto it runs a comfortable 1000RPM but doesnt really climb, cant say the same about the unlocked breach subguns I have/have shot and most of those are running 1/2 the speed.
Pop the can off an MP9 and its only marginally larger than a normal 9mm handgun, think G19 vs G34 size difference tier step.
Accuracy wise I have no problems offhand hitting at 100yd with subs, sure its a wet noodle when it gets there but what do you expect from sub 9mm?
>Proprietary can
Yeah that part sucks for sure but with 1 day F1 approvals and the can not being expensive its not very hard to dedicate the can.
if you want to be petty about it, you can adapt the can to 3lug as well for your MP5 by just unthreading ass end and threading on the MP5 QD adapter.

1st time plate carrier purchaser. I am in the market for a Warrior Systems DCS and some level 4 plates. What vendors do you guys recommend? Also is it true that the m4 pouches that come with the DCS are adequate for 7.62 AK mags? I have 5.56 AR/AUG and 7.62 AK rifles and I am hoping to find mag pouches that can accommodate all of them.

>Carriers
Crye JPC 2 comes in at slightly less than the DCS carrier and will be vastly more comfortable and breathable. Crye SPC is a functional improvement over either with the structural loading, especially if you ever plan for sideplates. Both carriers have vastly superior shoulder strap areas compared to the DCS that will make it much easier to shoulder a rifle
>Pouches
AK mags due to the lugs arent going to work super well with most pouches, ive had good luck with flapped double M4 mag pouches holding 1x 7.62 AK mag per (pic rel). Do not buy a carrier based on included pouches, you will be changing pouches anyway to suit your need. Aug mags are a bit easier to work with until you get to 40 rounders. True flexibility on your chest would be taco mag pouches but open top on chest going to collect all sorts of trash. If you do the previously mentioned JPC you can setup panels and swap between a double M4 and single M4 to cover most of your mags. In this pic >>61501200 ive got single m4, single 7.62, double m4 and double 7.62. This covers my ARs, SCAR 17, SCAR20 and similar. Then in this pic >>61500791 I have a SMG mag panel that will do my subgun mags. If I want to slick the carrier down to wear only belt kit or get it lower vis I can simply strip the panel entirely. Really quick and easy process to do all this stuff and I would highly suggest you build your setup with modularity in mind.

DCS can take chest rigs which is a form of modularity, but its just very expensive and bulky to swap around those as panels.

>>61501283
Going for modularity makes perfect sense.
Looking at their website, am I correct that the SPC is a lighter version of the JPC that doesn't come with a cummerbund? Does it lose any modularity over the JPC?
>you will be changing pouches anyway to suit your need
Makes sense, I imagine I will likely be carrying an AUG if I am actually using it for real so I will focus on that. If it is as simple as pulling the AUG pouches off and sticking some AK pouches on then that is a no brainer.
>Aug mags are a bit easier to work with until you get to 40 rounders
My 40 rounders on my AUG and AK will be in the gun, i'll only be carrying 30's in pouches.
>True flexibility on your chest would be taco mag pouches but open top on chest going to collect all sorts of trash
I definitely want flaps to avoid debris.
I assume I can get dedicated pouches for radios and mount a push to talk mic on one of the shoulders or chest somehow?
>belt kit
I have never been able to find a belt that didnt absolutely destroy my hips when I put any kind of weight on it beyond a pistol and a few mags.

Crye half ghillie so you can resell it when you realize its a bad idea. Leaf suits so they sit much closer to body and solve a lot of the snagging.

>Looking at their website, am I correct that the SPC is a lighter version of the JPC that doesn't come with a cummerbund? Does it lose any modularity over the JPC?
SPC is a structural carrier, the cumberbund distributes front and rear plate weight to reduce sag and better carry that load. Comparing them side by side identically configured the SPC basically gives you "free" sideplates in terms of comfort/weight. If you dont want sideplates, then consider it ~3.5lb of weight.
>AUG if using it for real
More like UGH, get an AR bromo
>IF its as simple as pulling pouches and sticking on
Panel system as found on crye carriers is 4 sticks of velcro off and 4 sticks of velcro on, way nicer than reweaving 3x pouches at 2x sticks of molle each.
>Dedicated pouches and PTT
Yeah basically. I like the crye wing pouches for smaller civilian radios they come in a pair so you get a bonus one for an extra mag or MANET radio.
My PTT is also just hard routed thru down to those pouches
>Belt kit
Yeah gotta do some proper belt kit, not a two piece velcro belt or super thin belt.
>>
>>61501507

Interesting thanks for the info. I doubt I will want side plates but I definitely still want the option.

$500 is sort of a strange middle ground armor wise. It puts you well beyond the amongos $100-$189 chinese plates or the $200 8lb US plates. But leaves you below the true lightweight plates. You could grab hesco 4r601s with that budget easily which are fairly okay at 6.6lb per for a med.

Are camelbaks/hydration carriers worth it? I've been using a pair of old school USGI canteens for ages, are back-mounted soft hydration carriers genuinely an improvement or is it just a gimmick?

I can see that they're easier to use and that they collapse when empty for a lower profile. The bladder just seems like it would be really prone to damage and thus leakage, plus they cost more.

absolutely, you can just walk and do shit and sip from it, instead of having to stop, the thing is tho that I feel it's extremely more satisfying to drink from a canteen that sip from the tube
>>
>>61502991
With a bladder you can sip on the go while keeping your hands free, if you use a (modern) gas mask you can get things so you can drink while sealed up.
Depending on what bladder you have you can also collect a far larger volume of water in a shorter amount of time compared to filling canteens.
I've never managed to damage a bag but I think it also helps if you have a compartment for it so it's not directly getting poked by things.
Drinking lines and mouth pieces I have damaged but they're relatively cheap to replace or repair.

Main thing really is cleaning the water line.

Spiritus Systems is a shit-tier hypebeast brand for fat vaccinated redditors in open relationships who jerk it to Blacked.com and support BLM but who also happen to own firearms. Their products are marketed like tactical nylon Funko Pops but with 'quirky' names and their Instagram is just photos of the staff wearing a mixture of civilian clothing and meme camos like desert night camo to appeal to the absolute manchildren they call their customer base. Merely typing Spiritus into google will give you unlimited reddit links to balding software engineers who own entire walls of LV-119s in different camo patterns. Hilariously you will struggle to find a single picture of any active duty SOF guys wearing Spiritus Gear because it's shit and anyone who uses gear for work doesn't touch it with a barge pole. This is pathetic cope. The whole reason his son became a seal to begin with is because he was a failure of a father, and his failure can also be blamed for DJ being a emotionally stunted drama whore. Weird to try take the moral high ground on absentee fathers when its exactly what he did.
>>
>>61511198
I mostly just think it's funny for DJ to write that about himself when this is just out there in the world for everybody to see.

They're both clearly huge shitbags from where I'm sitting.
>>
>>61511198
It's not surprising. Narcissists and psychopaths have a pathological need to invent all sorts of fantastical horseshit to support their view that not only is nothing wrong with them or their actions, but that they are entirely justified.
>>
i got a good amount of goretex bivys and jackets/pants, I want to wash them with nikwax goretex cleaner and then dwr, anything i should know beforehand?
I'd also want to dwr some of my other stuff like LVL7 jackets, is it better to use spray or to wash them too?
I'll probably buy spray anyway bc I want to out it on my backpacks

is a ciras a decent PC in current time?

if you are in Europe and own an ITAR restricted item is it illegal in some way? either illegal in the EU country (depends which ofc), or illegal in the us but with extradition it's still illegal.
or is it just illegal to export it and if you own it from buying it used it's not a problem?

I wrote to eotech for a warranty question about delamination and the guy asked about SN and then suspiciously inquired about how the process for importing it was, which makes me think the SN told him it was a US eotech and not an exported one.
anyway I dont even own it I was inquiring before buying it to see if I could get it repaired but now I'm interested
>>
>>61511617
Depends if it was legally exported or not. Also remember ITAR is US law and individual countries will have their own individual restrictions on importing/exporting/owning dual use tech, which may or may not mirror ITAR.
>>
>>61511617
no, it's not illegal for you to own. ITAR is just for US exports.
>>
>>61511617
ITAR only affects the companies that moved the product, and assuming they didn't file some paperwork that would exempt them from the restrictions.
The end user isn't necessarily affected by ITAR however there might be other laws and regulations that concern the end user/ final owner like 3+ gen night vision

is the adept nova steel helmet good?
I've seen ballistic tests on yt and it actually works, seems a good option, good weight, good protection and low price
>>
>>61513232
Okay hi-speed what would you suggest then? I was originally looking at hescos but they have qc issues and have had a few if their plates kicked due to not meeting NIJ certs

adept RF2 or colossus
>>
>>61513292
now of course the video is from adept themselves so I'd like to see an independent test
>>

They're weirdly good. Makes it seem like DuPont Corruption™ that Kevlar helmets were ever introduced at all, because that helmet beats the shit out of the PASGT at a lighter weight.
>>
>>61511617
ITAR only applies to exports from the USA. In your country, there are local laws.
Many things that are ITAR-restricted are not restricted in the EU. But thermal and IR rifle scopes are extremely illegal to possess, in most countries. Some countries, such as France, also appear to limit NVG more generally.
>>
>>61508782
Their marketing techniques are extremely obnoxious. And their LV119 is a shitty design. There really isn't anything good about Spiritus.
>>
>>61511255
The spray (TX.Direct Spray-On) is just fine. In most cases it's easiest to use the spray, and I've found that it works as well as any other option

my gear is too heavy

if i hike in the woods every two weeks with a bunch of weight on my back and eat a ton of chicken will i get stronger

i am a low testosterone lanklet
>>
>>61513787
It's actually really hard to carry enough protein and calories to feed your muscles in the woods. Strength training in a gym setting coupled with nutrition geared to encourage muscle development is the best way to go. Also, carefully consider what you actually need to carry and remove whatever you don't.
>>
>>61513813
> calories
I can help.
> Macadamia nuts
> Pecan nuts
> Twix bars
Those are the most calorie-dense foods on the planet.
Now add:
> Peanuts
> Dried meat
For protein and you're good to go. I always take these foods with me when I go into the woods/jungle for days on end.

The CEO in literally all Spiritus videos Adam is clinically obese and has a BMI of 40. He made a whole video on “why the bdu shirt is better than combat shirts” to cope with the fact that he’s fat and too embarrassed to wear a combat shirt because his giant gut would balloon out

Hescos are fine, literally the entire backlash to hesco is from one shill dropshipper sperging out on multiple platforms (mostly reddit and facebook but he used to shit the place up here too) over the course of years seemingly because he could not get a vendor contract with them.

When Hesco's plates failed FIT (these are regular follow-up tests of random batches of compliant products to make sure that they still pass) tests, they did what any legitimate manufacturer would do: they recalled the plates in question that were still under warranty with offer of a free replacement of a newer product, and allowed the certification to lapse while phasing the product in question out. That's all pretty fuckin normal, above-board behavior.

>>61513196
>They're made in the USA and NIJ certified
At literally no point in the entire product description does it say either of those things lmao. It says "assembled in the USA" and further down clarifies that the components come from their "trusted partners in asia" and it says "tested to NIJ standards" not "NIJ certified"

That anon is trying to help you, stop being a retard.

Buy LTCs or Hescos. They both make plates in your pricerange.

Bump that shit up to once or twice a week. I remember when I hiked the grand canyon a few years ago, I was vastly out of shape and trained hard for a few months before I actually even did the hike. I was in decent shape and even then I was absolutely done by the time I got to camp 12 miles in fairly rocky terrain with 40lbs on my back. You just gotta train, and train frequently.

>>
>>61513876
I think I'd still recommend strength training independent of the bag, particularly core stability and lat raises in addition to legs. If your core stability is not that great, carrying a heavy pack tends to make your posture worse.

okay but what about a modern helmet thats actually relevant?

looks better in backface deformation which is arguably way more important on a helmet than for plates.

has less bfd and can not be cared about where you leave it more bc it doesnt get rekt by heat like being in muh car trunk or in the sun with UV unlike UHMWPE and its lighter too, problem is the mounting shroud seems flimsy and is expensive af but mounting nvgs is fundamental

>>
>>61516685
decent chest, great mag disposition and can attach gp, frags and ifak, and still keep it flat, the harness isnt that good tho, the flc is good and cheap, more bulky and a bit hotter, holds weight better

both very cheap
>>
>>61487148
I noticed that Mike's partner company(?) or his company(?)'s Recce rig is never recommended. It looks kind of like the blue force gear 10 speed which is cheaper - is that why?

I see the velcro MOLLE in the front is different and doesmt seem to have velcro on the back
whatever, is there any relevant difference with the newer one?
it comes with 3 lbt double mag pouches, 1 lbt gp pouch, and 1 lbt triple pistol mag pouch for 200$, could maybe bring it down a bit, seems a good deal

Been thinking about a lightweight hardshell to put over a plate carrier and chest rig to help with concealment if needed.
