I finally put words to a progression I have been working on. Thank you nicotine.

A sinner comes
Strung between a well and pyre

Needle points
north and woven tighter

Could have been saved before
Falling off the slack rope
If he’d balanced right

Didn’t know a wind would blow
Slippin like a timid ghost
One day still humors may dry

Prechorus

Starlight falls
When the clouds feel shy

So he knew
Just how far
By one look from the night

At once God whispered
Keep it safe tonight

Chorus

Let hope
With him stay
Like the angels’ smiles and knifes

Like crutches
Bruising aching joint
But carrying on in spite
Post Chorus / Bridge

Open up penumbra of kind
Biting coyotes and sloughs holding tight
Tipping the scales he dances and sings
As they fall and free
It was always clean

Chorus

Let hope
With him stay
Like the angels’ smiles and knifes

Like crutches
Bruising aching joint
But carrying on in spite

At once did he say
Like the heralds feather quill

“I could love you much better than yesterday will”

I'd rather have that guitar than pay a premium to have Gaysh's name on my instrument.
Even though Les Paul is Jewish, and having another man's name on your guitar is really gay, the guitar is more famous than him so it's okay.
That finish though... that's a gay finish.

people are just fuckin gay
and honestly , I live in midwest we have wild climate changes, dry cold winters, hot sticky summers
fret ends have never been an issue
and I guarantee 80 percent of my guitars would fail Phil Mc"can't play" sock test
but who cares?
so there is a .5 mm bump on edge of fretboard?

I have no interest in reading people typing about playing guitar, but I like guitars and love seeing people's guitars, talking shit, complimenting the guitars, talking about pickups and amps etc

ProTip #5
Learn a few popular songs, and when people at parties learn you play guitar and inevitably ask if you know how to play Wonderwall, or Blackbird, or We're Going To Be Friends, reply 'No' but ask if they have it on their phone. Then, pretend to pick it apart right there in front of everyone by ear and play it flawlessly.

How do I bend without having the other strings I end up touching while bending ring out? Or when I “reverse bend” or whatever it’s called when you un bend back to normal how do I not have the other strings I’m touching basically do a pull off and also ring out?
Watching videos on YouTube and people do it so effortlessly but whenever I do it it’s never just the one string I want to bend, at least one other string will eventually join in.

No. It's just for splitting the vocal track from the song. You still have to create your own backing track.
I mostly download MIDI or Guitar Pro files and then add virtual instruments in my DAW to it. Sounds pretty good or at least as good as it can get when you're playing by yourself.

Getting into the different modes after about 10 years of playing. I knew playing over certain chords bring modal sounds out, but I never did it deliberately and over modal progression. It's like whole new worlds of colors opening up to me. I have much more appreciation for pentatonics now, the way they fit in to scale patterns in ways I didn't think they could. The fretboard is a wonderous thing. I am extremely glad that I knew my major and minor scales like the back of my hand before I got into this, made the transition easy and very fun. I don't have to think, I can just play. The fire is renewed.

What i dont get about the whole modal thing is this: the notes of a mode scale are the same for every mode, you just accentuate/ finish on different note for each mode. But i always finish and accentuate on a note for major or minor scale. So i dont get it at all. Do i need to have a backing chord progression in, say, myxolydian?

>QC issues
I get your point but QC is a real issue. There's seems to be a push now that if you bought a cheap or mid range guitar it's acceptable that you can grate cheese on the fret ends, or that the nut is fucked up, or that the neck is misaligned etc.
Fender Mexico is the best example of this, whole batches of fucked up guitars that even a non guitarist can see are broken. But they push them out anyway.
>>
>>121603341
That's right, it's contextual. Try playing over this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnIvvEXq1bw
It's B Mixolydian derived from E major. So try E major scale but try to resolve your lines to B (the fifth interval from E). You can also do B major pentatonic and try adding the b7 (A in this case) to it to bring out the mixolydian flavor.

aren't cheap guitars in 2024 miles ahead of cheap guitars 30 or 20 years ago? cheap guitars have always been shit of course but i gather the situation was much worse back in the day.
QC is garbage across the board, not just with guitars. it's with food, clothes, appliances, everything.

Im seriously considering pulling a trigger on this one. Its a performer made in corona. Anyone have a performer? Hows the playability and the tone? Are you happy with it? Is it easier the break through plateaus on a good guitar like this one? Is single coil really that bad for distortion?
Im still not sure about the color, maybe ill go with the all black one but that one has a humbucker
>>
Should I return my amp?
Guitar is an Ibanez RG and the amp is a Fender LT25
I started guitar about a month ago, I went to guitar center with my parents and tried out a bunch of stuff and I'm happy with the guitar I got, not sure about the amp. I feel like it's decent with clean tones but I don't like the distorted tones. It could just be me being bad at controlling distortion though. It also buzzes but I feel like that's not the amp's fault, is it?
In the store I was trying out that, a Boss Katana 50, and a used Line Spider. I wasn't sure what I liked the best so I went with the smaller cheaper amp.
Should I return it? If so what should I get? Another solid state modelling amp? A tube amp? No amp and just get an interface for my computer? Used or new?
The one thing is that I don't want to try to get my parents to spend more on me, they're already very gracious.
>>
>>121603590
new cheap guitars are objectively better, but there is a mojo to old cheap guitars like teiscos that makes up for the jankiness
>>
>>121603625
If you want a new guitar go for it, but it's not going to make you better. It might inspire you, for a little while, but YOU are the one who has to break through and get out of your rut. And you can do it on a piece of shit guitar, as long as it's playable. I have several guitars of course.
>>
>>121603625
single coils aren't 'bad' with distortion, they're just squirelly
humbucker in the bridge is better if you plan on playing with distortion a lot.
that's a fine guitar you should buy it
>>
>>121603635
>It also buzzes but I feel like that's not the amp's fault, is it?
Do you have any power cables on or near the guitar cable. If so move them away.
Just because your guitar has humbuckers does not mean it will not pick up electric hum. Mine can pickup my electric blanket if it's close.

>aren't cheap guitars in 2024
It's a mixed bag I think. I constantly hear that squires can be better made than MX Fenders. The Fender MX Meteora line was a 50/50 it was even wired correctly. That for value Epiphones are better than the cheap US Gibson line.
Reverends had a good reputation for playable out the box, then the guitars around 2020-2021 could be dumpster fires. I saw a Reverend Jetstream HB that had the wrong tuners installed.

Been thinking about picking up a higher tier or even Japanese made Yamaha Pacifica. I don’t need any more Strat style guitars but I don’t have any with a humbucker in the bridge and the higher priced Pacificas look really good. I have been impressed with every Yamaha I’ve ever played and I’m really thinking about taking the Yamaha pill and buying one or a few different models.

They aren't. The player series has better hardware and QC.

CV series is good for the price but the electronics and hardware are a mix bag. I have a CV jazzmaster on my bench right now and the electronics are cheap and the pickups are meh, I'll probably upgrade the electronics in the future after I change out the pick-up today

is there any reason i couldn't just use a little preamp into an xls1002 going to a 15" subwoofer instead of buying a separate bass amp/cab? will it just sound like poo? i have no idea what sort of drivers bass cabs use.
i'd test, but i don't own a bass yet....

nor do i have an active preamp

>>121603341
Let the root tone or chord ring out with a looper or backing or something. That's how our ears contextualize the scale, even though you're playing the same notes.
You'll have different notes that you target obviously as you use each mode.

I was playing my mandolin at the park on this week-end afternoon, the sun warming my turquoise Pancho. Birds flew around the green leaves. I was enjoying a raspberry kombucha, even. The bpm I was soloing in was so fast people took notice. I am always humble with the praise i get from playing in public. Considering most people, for them I'm the best musician they have ever heard, I understand why they think it would be ok to interrupt my day. Bothering me while I'm going for a "stroll". Well, let's just say that if you bother me on the wrong day I'm liable to give a spinning-backfist. Yeah? I'm ruthless, on the streets. You gotta be. Most the guit-fiddles I's got I either made or stole. Heh... Well it felt like stealing. Playing guitar shoot-outs in road-houses outside Atlanta... Winning Gibson electric guitars from other men that where worth 10's of thousands... Oh well bros.
