Ministers look poised to end the right to a jury trial for a vast range of criminal offences in England and Wales, as they grapple with a vast backlog of cases that is delaying hearings by many months.

The newspaper reported that juries would remain involved in only the most serious trials — for offences such as rape, murder and manslaughter — or if there was public interest. All other cases would be heard by a judge sitting alone.

>The newspaper reported that juries would remain involved in only the most serious trials — for offences such as rape, murder and manslaughter — or if there was public interest
>Non-serious cases have been dealt with in jury-free Magistrates Courts for decades in UK
Must be a slow news day indeed if this is all that can be dredged up.

Basically they're just going to dismiss every crime from foreigners
>>
>white defendants given suspended sentences - effectively dismissed non-serious crimes - in Magistrates Courts for decades: way before foreign immigrants
Must be a slow news day indeed if this is the best form of comment that can be dredged up.

sorry but none of this communist nonsense will end unless someone attempts or succeeds in assassinating keir starmer or the cabinet but i highly doubt that'll happen since us brits are designed to listen to the machine and to never question it. such BS

It sounds pretty important that a major nation wants to restrict juries for crimes…

I just don't think anyone is really surprised by UK or EU politics becoming worse and worse under the guidance of supposedly left wingers.
And when I say Progressives are totalitarians no one believes me, but here we are, watching the Eurosphere turn into a hard right wing country in the guise of a left wing government.

And the biggest problem is that this crap filters down to US liggerals, and they try to emulate it.

>UK wants to imprison it's citizens for social media posts without a trial- I SLEEP
>US wants to deport proven illegal aliens without due process- I'M WOKE
Hmm.

Juryless Common Law trials have been in use since 1846.
Juryless Crown Court trials have been used since 2009. (Fucking Right Wing Tories started this, not the Lefties, you twat)
I suspect they are increasing the amount of juryless trials because the public were refusing to give a guilty verdict on political protestors (protesting against the israeli invasion of palestine, etc) that the government wanted to make an example, as well as countless cases being dropped because a juror blurted to the press or tweeted what a verdict might be.

>wow good time to be a criminal in the UK
And yet their crime rates are far lower than ours.
>>
>>1460508
It's so weird that if you don't arrest and convict rapists that crime statistics go down, huh?
Also, I'm fairly certain the number of American blacks in the UK is pretty low, which probably helps too.

You're too weird to be a judge of what weird is esl shill

>It's so weird that if you don't arrest and convict rapists that crime statistics go down, huh?
You think crime stats only track crimes with convictions?

>Also, I'm fairly certain the number of American blacks in the UK is pretty low, which probably helps too.
Pretty sure the Black crime rates in the UK are below that of the US too.
