Does anyone have any tips to make a diy auxiliary fuel tank for a efi bike? I used to ride a carbureted bike and it was as simple as connecting the tank with a T to the fuel line, adding a petcock and letting gravity do it's job.

okay I took it out again today to go run some errands and it idled perfectly? on the same tank of gas? Same route and everything, main difference is that I stalled it out once yesterday in the parking lot yesterday and didn't stall at all today but it feels random whenever the idle decides to act up because it's pulled the rough idle thing even when I hadn't stalled it
I'm beginning to want to rule out the fuel pump from the question because throttle response is solid across the rev range even when the idle is being funny.

what's even the problem with the 790? never looked into it just saw a video of a guy bitching while replacing them.

2 of his cam lobes had valleys carved into them. Probably from lack of oil + heat. The dealer fixed it up and gave him the cam shafts.

Was going through storage and found my dad's old colors from when he was in a motorcycle club in California back in the 60s. Him and a few friends from the service chopped their Triumphs and had one of their moms make their patches for them. He said they decided to quit playing biker when a Hell's Angel at a bar took offense and pulled a sawed-off on them and apparently peppered his friend's bike as they rode off into the sunset. I'm not into MCs and I'm especially not into colors but I kinda wish I fit into this so I could give them one more ride, I think a lot of MCs would look a lot less gay if they used denim vests like this instead of leather

Glad I'm not the only one noticing this. I know it's pretty typical for people to bitch about how bad drivers are getting as they get older but I've noticed a crazy increase in the amount of people that are straight up homicidal on the road. Going way over the speed limit in areas where it exists for a reason (residential and commercial areas), constant weaving in and out of traffic, general impatience. A few months ago I was driving through Grand Rapids and this guy coming up behind me was driving like a lunatic weaving in and out of traffic at like 80 mph. He got ahead of me, tried to change lanes and then noticed someone was already there, overcorrected, flipped his car and it smashed into a divider upside down. I had to swerve to avoid the wreckage. Imagine killing yourself like that just to get somewhere like 3 minutes faster

What are the risks of changing wheel size from stock? I'm the guy restoring/modifying a 78 shovelhead from the last thread but I'm pretty new to it. The stock front tire is a 19 inch and the rear is 16, I want to reduce the front tire down to 16 inches to give the bike a "flatter" look for what I'm doing with it. Obviously it'll change the handling a bit but is it going to make it dangerous or something?

>>27600393
I'm probably just going to set it under the bead locker so it doesn't make a difference, this tire wasn't cheap. It's not like it needs to hold air and the bead is still intact. I was mostly wondering if there was some other problem I might run into because of it I wasn't thinking about
>>
>>27600365
your brakes will heat up faster and tires wont last as long. just get longer shocks you will spend stupid money on tires and rims and then doing everything vs zipping in and out a few bolts to put on 3" lifts and can turn better

I made this
>>
>>27600365
if anything it will be more nimble in the corner and a bit less unstable in a straight line due to reduced rake and trail. may need stiffer springs for rear shocks

>>27600415

>>
>>27600415
>and a bit less unstable in a straight line due to reduced rake and trail.
I thought rake and length is what made a bike stable in a straight line? I thought choppers had the crazy proportions they do specifically because they were made for long stretches of open highway out west where you're just riding in a straight line
>>
>>27600426
less stable
brain fart sorry
>>
>>27600426
>out west
Big gay
>>
>>27600365
Changing the geometry could possibly make you get speed wobble. But harleys get speed wobble standard, so you might actually make it more stable idk
>>
>>27600401
if you lift the rear you will get ground clearance and tilt for like 150 bucks, anywhere from 1-5+ inches, vs tons more work and money on a smaller front wheel that will look like shit with the stock rear, that will have to spin faster for the same speed and wear your breaks faster.
>>
>>27600404

>>

so either raising the rear or lowering the front will actually reduce speed wobble lol due to shifting the weight few centimeters to the front. Then the reduced rake angle would make correction easier

My dad died yesterday.

He died with our motorcycle club shirt draped over him. He lost the battle to complications directly related to cancer.

Tomorrow is the cremation.

June 21st is the service, held at the club campground, the next day we'll spread his ashes on the event course.

His daily street bike was a 1978 KZ650. He'd given me his DR350 and his Drz400. He has passed his XT250 to my son.

Can you guys post some bikes, please?

Had great taste in bikes.
May he RIP and HYB in peace.

I lost my dad in 2021.
This is his Rebel, and he also had a TW200 which was my starter bike.
I didnt have my T7 til a while after he passed so we never got to go on the pan-america trip we were planning. Also the covid travel ban was blocking us.
I still want to go but my mom doesnt want me to go alone, but I dont really have any close bike bros that would be up to go on such a long trip. It also might be an emotional trip because I want to bring some of his ashes to scatter.

I'm pretty sure the center spring in my throttle bodies is doing a fucky because there's a clicking noise down in there somewhere and the throttle has a really strong turning resistance (snaps back really hard still) but that part is buried in the "never ever touch this" section of the TBs where the only guidance is to replace the entire TBs including the secondary plate servo.

Is it a worthy upgrade to put osram nightbreakers instead of the stock halogens? I really don't like the aliexpress led conversions on older bikes and want to keep the original headlight. Also don't want to compromise the waterproofness of the housing by shoving an led bulb in there.
>>
>>27600944

Same reason I don't want to get a led bulb in, I'd have to cut or loose the headlight backplate making the whole thing no longer waterproof.

how would you change a light bulb in there otherwise? do the have a vacuum or what? genuine curiosity whats different on your headlights than on any other bike where you just schrew them out/in.

you could get external additional auxiliary lights if you dont wanna touch the original.
>>
>>27600956
There's a weatherproof cap on the back side of the bulb, and the housing itself is pretty exposed, so much so that without the backing plate a mistake while washing the bike would probably get water inside. picrel
I'll try the nightbreakers since it's 30 bucks and 15 minutes and post results here. All else fails I'll just get some aux lights like you said.

1. Engine balance. Thumpers suck if you're sensitive to vibrations.

People go 80 as standard in the left lane in/around GR. There WILL be the occasional tard who weaves in and out, tailgating people, doing 100, etc. Speed limit is 70 basically everywhere, until you get north of Rockford or some shit and it goes to 75. 80 isn't that outrageous. I understand what you mean though.

It might be running cold, as if the thermostat was fully open all the time. I'm not sure how it is in bikes, but in cars the engine is almost guaranteed to run cold, unless you thrash it. If you have a temp gauge I'd try riding without one and see, if it's running cold then no luck and you need to splurge on a thermostat.
>>
>>27601060
No temp gauge. I've looked online and an inline thermostat + generic rad hose to cut up isnt terribly expensive so might just go that approach instead.

Sure they have, they streamlined the process of getting spare parts, you can find it on their website: https://uralmoto.ru/parts
Whenever anything breaks, you just go to https://live.uralcatalog.com/, select the parts that need to be replaced, send a request for those parts to sale@uralmoto.ru, then wait for the quote and further instructions.

Hey br/o/s it's me. Rural road new rider guy from yesterday. I was hesitant to go out and ride because I live off a country road and the nearest town is through a pretty rough (for a new rider) route.
I ended up going on a 20 mile round trip down the road and back without much issue. The anxiety went away after a couple miles and after 4-5 miles I was having a blast. My bike (Royal Enfield Hunter 350) is a turd but it's great for what I am doing! Can't wait to go out again. I plan to do this 'down the road and back' a few more times before adventuring out further.

Has anyone here ever had problems with DOT/local police for having illegal stuff on your bike? I'm customizing my bike a bit and I'm thinking about removing the turn signals and reflective tape because it's really ugly. I'm obsessed with this Harley I saw on Bike EXIF from Deus. I really wish Harley offered something like this stock, or anyone for that matter. My dream bike has always been something like a standard from the 70s but with a torquey v-twin in it. Don't park your bike overnight in an area with niggers unless you don't want it to be there in the morning

If you get pulled over don't forget to worship the ground the trooper walks on unless you want him to ruin your life

If you see a fat old man on his trike don't engage him in conversation unless you want to hear about every motorcycle he ever owned and how he had to lay 'er down and how his shitpig AMF harley from the 70s could blow any supersport bike you have out of the water because it's powered by red-blooded American nigger sweat
>>
>>27601380
I looked into buying a shitbike and then ditching it, but its not easy to have it registered and insured without breaking some rules and I don't think its worth the risk, get pulled over and you don't have correct paperwork, trip is over.

Can any Americans explain about driving in different states? You have a car/bike registered and following the rules of State 1, go over to State 2, do you also need to do extra shit in State 2 or are you covered because you're following the home State rules? Like say if insurance is not compulsory in your home State but it is in another?
>>
>>27601396
Insurance is required in every state, there's not many specific issues you are going to run into state to state, that's OK in one but not in another.

You can only lane split/filter in California, anywhere else they won't understand what you are doing and they'll get offended by it.
>>
>>27601396
You need insurance in every state, but other than that everything is pretty much the same except for minor traffic laws like right turn on red, or having license plate on the front (for cages). Driving in one state is the same as any other.
>>
>>27601411
>>27601396
But I think to answer your question if everything reg/insurance/license whatever is legit in one state, all the others will recognize and honor it
>>
>>27601396
Insurance is compulsory everywhere. I think New Hampshire is the only state that doesn't require insurance but you do have to prove "financial responsibility" which means insurance is de facto required. As long as everything is squared away with the state you're registered in you're good to go though. For example, California is well-known for having extremely strict and retarded laws regarding emissions, to the point that vehicles sold there often are a special version that's compliant for that state. If I drive a car registered in Nevada into California, a state trooper can't pull you over and cite you because your car isn't California compliant, it only applies to vehicles registered in the state of California.

Of course in practice, with motorcycles, they let a lot of shit slide. Just about everybody on a sport bike has an aftermarket exhaust that isn't road legal, tons of guys with choppers and customs are missing things legally required by the DOT. In my experience dealing with traffic cops is that they'll treat you as good as you treat them. Sure every now and then you'll get just a real rank cocksucker that wants to make your life hell for no reason, but for the most part if you get pulled over and you're courteous and comply with their instructions you'll be fine. If you start running your mouth about how you're a sovereign citizen and how the police should be abolished and how traffic enforcement is just a way to extort revenue from the public, however, he's probably going to look for any reason he can to ruin your day. Which isn't difficult, like I said just about everybody on the road has something they could theoretically be cited for.

>tl;dr
Make sure your paperwork is in order and don't be a cunt when dealing with LEO and you'll be fine

southern states are more friendly and will converse with you like they have all the time in the world vs northern states will be bothered and confused if you try to engage in a conversation. we have things to do and places to be
avoid large cities, crime/traffic, there's nothing worth seeing there anyway.
its still very hot in the south and southwest states in september.
all prices shown are pre-tax, you won't know the actual tax because it varies by state, usually 6-10% so if you are paying with cash it's going to be annoying. you find out at the register at the end after the cashier totals everything.

depends what kind of patches and how many of them. Marque/brand patches, stuff from places you've toured to or garages that have worked on your stuff, accomplishments (rallies and races you've taken part in, things like the ton up club) are cool. Stereotypical American biker shit like 1%er skulls and crossbones and "live to ride, ride to live" mottos and dumb shit like "pussy slayer" are all extremely cringe boomercore bullshit and you should kys if you unironically wear any of that

>>27601484
Still remember going through moab in 43°c and emptying a water bottle down my shirt every 10m
>>
>>27601439
i wouldn't bother if you're not in any kind of club or organization, they always make you look like a larper just because of the association to them even if they are cool looking

You think yamaha will ever make a t9 tenere with the cp3 engine?

I'd rather they'd make a Tracer 10 with the cp4

How bad is the grip on a rainy road? i am comfortable when its dry but i am slow as a turtle when raining. not sure how much difference there is and i dont want to find out the hard way
>>
>>27601712
How much cc can a bore-up get out of those engines?
>>
>>27601750
CFMotos fall apart if you look at them funny, at least the new Himalayan isn't terribly constructed (if you are to believe the dozen moto websites/youtubers that rode them in the actual Himalayas).
>>
>>27601772
> How bad is the grip on a rainy road?
Depends on the tyre.
On my shitbike with semi-knobbies I barely notice the difference between wet and dry. Cold vs warm, on the other hand, are totally different, almost zero grip at sub 5 C.

Today you're laughing but in a few years Chinese bikes will have the same reputation as Japanese ones.
>>
>>27601772
Depends on tyres, but general rules are
>first 15 or so minutes are the biggest danger due to possible aquaplaning and oil rising to the surface
>Avoid even the tiniest puddle whenever possible or risk a fuckhuge pothole, and your brain matter
>if you're not wearing high-viz in a city environment you're better off waiting it out or risk getting rear-ended by a blind bat in a cage
>>
Remember, while manga can provide a lot of information, nothing beats hands-on experience.

>>27601783
>if you are to believe the dozen moto websites/youtubers that rode them in the actual Himalayas

>fly in dozens of freeloader
>get them cosy hotels and probably hookers
>give them bikes you prepped and went over to make sure they work
>have fun, gas is on us
>encourage them on good reviews
>another night on the house to celebrate
gee i wonder why

It's not that easy for EFI bikes. EFI bikes have a fuel pump submerged in the tank, and you can't just install a T or a 3 way valve to join them together. You either have to manually siphon/transfer fuel from the aux. tank to the main one or install a transfer pump that you manually engage to transfer fuel from the aux. to the main tank.

Just carry a jerry tank with proper mounting.
>>
>>27601986
But will you post your bike as op!

>>27601637
the only thing I don't like about it, is the tacky dual exit pipe on a single. Should've just been a single exit pipe

I actually rode a himmy in the Himalayas so weighing in:
You could turn on the engine management light by hitting redline, and then off by doing that again.
Every one I saw had blown forks and notchy head bearings
Other than that, they were okay

Solid tips but you forgot an important one:
>avoid riding on road markings or manhole covers as these are very slippery when wet

Someone get the pic of the shitter that blew up in 10,000km
