In that case that's plenty of headroom. Even if I stay off the 70mph roads the next lowest speed limit is 60mph and if I want to do a quick overtake on those I'll usually end up hitting my 86mph limit to do so, but I admit that's unnecessary for regular commuting and is just me not wanting to be stuck behind cars that slow down too much in the twisties.

Just go down the line, anon.
Start with battery, make sure its healthy, then alternator, make sure its charging the battery, (don't know what charging voltage should be for that model but as long as the battery reads higher than 12.8~13v when running it should be fine), Then the ignition points (make sure they're clean and gapped correctly), ignition timing (make sure the piston is ACTUALLY at TDC, I've adjusted 360 degrees out of phase before, kek), ignition coil, plug cables and finally the spark plug.
I understand doing timing can be a daunting task, so if parts are cheap and the battery/alternator are good, I'd try a new spark plug and then ignition coil first.
From what little info you gave me though, I'd say its probably timing/point gap

Yes, mine is an 05 lowrider. They command quite a premium in NZ. For reference I paid $4k for mine, but it’s probably worth maybe $7k on its best day. That’s also a later model with a bigger engine among other things. Also, that particular bike has a Buell front brake, which I think it’s neat.

The AT is one of the few ADVs besides the T7 that's actually a big dirtbike, modelname is CRF1100. The V-Stroms and Tigers are sport tourers, the Italian ADVs are Italian, and the GS is just way too big, over 600lb fully loaded out. The Pan America is actually the closest fullsized competitor to the Africa Twin in niche.

I’d even go a step further and say look into a sportster 1200. They’re basically dynas, they just have slightly smaller motors and tanks, and they’re like a whole inch shorter. Front ends are exactly the same. Just go into it with a vision and know you’re going to want tall rear shocks, different bars that fit you and a new seat. And you’ll want mids. Probably get a much better deal too.

Honestly I don’t think I’m ready for any harley yet. I’m not at the point of loving riding just for riding, yeah thats a bit of it but I like to rip and do sportbike stuff. I want to appreciate riding more though, and I see a lot of people praising harleys as the ultimate bike to ride for the sake of riding. I feel like compromising with a non harley cruiser or even a sportster isn't taking it far enough. The dyna is the only ‘real harley’ I can afford anyway

But I am worried I would hate it. I once test drove a vx commodore ss. 6 speed t56 manual, ls1, lsd. I wanted to love it and it looked and sounded cool, but when I drove it I fucking hated it. It was such a wallowy piece of shit with an unresponsive throttle, dump truck shift action, and terrifying brakes. It was everything my dad always said about commos, and he hates harleys just as much. I’m worried a harley would be the same way, the experience would be ruined, and I would be missing out. Thats why I wouldn't want to compromise on anything less than the most quintessential experience. I need to test ride one but the dealer would probably see me coming

>>28120513

Sooner or later the sport bikes catch up with you one way or another. It takes more skill to go fast on something like a dyna than any sport bike. It’s also much more rewarding. I’ve said it before, but 120mph on my dyna through traffic is considerably more exhilarating than 170mph through traffic on my R1 any day of the week. It is motorcycling in its purest form.

Also, if you got that Dyna and just simply kept it in good shape as you rode it, it will continue to go up in value. Harleys are just based like that.

Trust in God

>I prefer the street.
If you just want to do top speed shit why don't you just get a drag bike like a busa or a zx14. I can't understand wanting to do sporty riding on a bike with a tall enough first gear that you'd practically never leave it on any proper technical roads, just sounds boring.

I know any harley is just a canvas, I would be changing the pipe, seat, bars and headlight. Theres an anon with a morified softail street bob, thats the style I like with the longer pipe

Ideally though I would want to do a front end swap, some kind of sportsbike gold inverted fork. I’ve always liked sportbike converted harleys like pic related, they are so badass

>>28120635
>top speed shit
Didnt say that

>tall enough first gear that you'd practically never leave it
You don’t need to be at redline all the time, thats the beauty of street riding. Plus the high capacity means fat midrange for effortless overtaking. Every time I’ve ridden the cbr1000 I’ve spent most of my time in 4th and 6th. Having a big midrange for passing but without the topend for insane speeds seems like a really enjoyable way to ride to me

He's seething about me. You know what? He has every right to. My daily commute to work consists of this. I can and have taken paved side streets to work, but roads like this cut right through my town. I don't lane split or filter because there's virtually nobody to filter through. Rush hour traffic sees cars 200 yards apart and when they are piled up at a red light, it's like 5 cars tops for a minute or 2. I no longer race through the city hustle and instead enjoy long dirt trails and rocky roads, almost every day.

I concede, I personally don't think most low profile top boxes would scrape before something else like the handle bars like in my case. But I also never lane split. Even IF there was somehow traffic during any period of time, I'd take dirt roads to my destination. That's why I sold my pavement princess to move to a vehicle that does it all for me. But I also live in the desert, not a concrete jungle. My commute is to and from a patient (or in the case now, an inpatient facility) and not riding around as a delivery boy. A top box that doesn't fit pizzas might also benefit you on days you don't deliver pizzas, and times you aren't carrying a delivery bag. What do I know though?

As for the weekend warrior comment, I ride every day that I'd drive, this is my primary vehicle, and I can show pics of Nevada plates in Panama city Florida from cross country 3,200km rides in mid winter. I also find modern bike livery far gayer than any anime meme sticker you could possibly imagine, but that's subjective and I concede. You're the master rider here, and the expert on lane splitting. I'll stick to my dusty shithole and stay quiet from now on.

Hotwing guy, i read this post
Afterwards i had the revelation spoke to me or intuition; i know not

What you just said is exactly the reason why other bikes need permission to pass
I wish i was joking
If i end up selling the vfr800 and somehow have the desire for a second bike again im getting a mr.harveydaberson

When i do im bevomming pic rel, except im getting a bakuon katana 1000cc rider approved full face helmet and fur mantle to match my studded leather jerkin armorset
Ngl im gonna do this little by little: acquire the vestments of taste until i have the outfit and accessories perfected

If i end up owning two bikes again; stiggerpills and the stiggerpilled helmet will be reserved for mr.honda guy, the crf450rl true duel snort, and the natural leatherdaddy furry reserved for my ALL AMERICAN VTWIN
But
But mr.hotwing guy, does buell count also? Im supposed to get the super cruiser too y'know
I thibk all the jellymad hater replyingnto this post simply dont understand the super cruiser exists and they that do understand and are still butthurt are basically confessing theyre actually POOR and of no consequence
Them replying is actually asking permission to pass: albeit passing judgement upon mr.harley

They better reply to THIS POST, which is all about the RESPECT, or else their cylinders will lose compression and die in their sleep

You ride whatever you want BROTHER, you have RESPECT that you’ve EARNED and the cucks WILL need permission to pass. I would also say the super cruiser demands RESPECT. I dont quite understand power levels for motorcycles

harleys are torquey right? I know they arent fast in the corners but in a straight line it might keep up with like a 650 ninja or a sv 650 right?

whats the difference between a fast harley and a crotch rocket?

I noticed a stability difference with the vfr800, it likes to assume the position uprigjt after a corner making it a bit more fprgiving
The cbr600 before it was nimble and flickable, but i like the vfr handling better
Its mostly a skill and hardware issue, good tires are great on every bike, as is a shorter wheelbase for cornering, but the physics of it is always the same
Youll see 300 riders clap liter peter because the riders are more skilled than straightline revbomb noobs etc.

I foubd my happy place innawoods on knobbies, because with a big boy single you can do lkterally everything
