Given the Tau's weakness in melee why doesn't the Imperium just send a bunch of melee-focused regiments like the Brontian Longknives at them?

Are you talking about the T'au? Because that's not true.
Gathering Storm 1 says that the T'au are technologically superior to the Imperium.
One of the recent short stories says that T'au have better sensor technology than the Imperium.
The T'au stealth technology is so advanced that the Deathwatch ships and teams use it in their operations.
Also, they invented Warp travel way faster than mankind.

They can't replicate the DAoT advanced technology. Heck, fuck that. I can even contest you on it. The recent Guardsmen codex says that the IG tanks are STCs from the DAoT. You know, like the Leman Russ whose formations get dumpstered by a single Hammerhead.

Barring the single superweapons, the Imperium armies don't have anything to upset the T'au superior technology on the battlefields.

>One of the recent short stories says that T'au have better sensor technology than the Imperium.
Given that the Imperium has psykers which can literally detect peoples souls that seems fairly unlikely.

>The T'au stealth technology is so advanced that the Deathwatch ships and teams use it in their operations.
So in other words, the Imperium and the Tau are now equal in their stealth tech. Also, the Imperium using it on their ships puts them leagues ahead of the Tau, who only use it on their battlesuits IIRC.

>Also, they invented Warp travel way faster than mankind.
This is blatantly untrue, the Imperium was travelling through the warp when the Tau were still banging rocks together as a stone age civilization. If it wasn't for the warp storm, the Tau would've been primitives exterminated by the Imperium without a second thought.

Also, in pretty much every way the Imperium has superior technology to the Tau. Oh, you built a Riptide? That's cute. Meet an Imperator Titan. Oh, you have pulse rifles? Adorable. We have volkite weapons.

The truth is, the Tau aren't the "advanced tech faction", the Necrons, Eldar, and Imperium already have that cornered. They aren't even the "elite soldier" faction, the Space Marines and Eldar do that better as well.

The only thing notable about the Tau is how...normal they are. They're the conventional faction to contrast with the weirdness of all the other factions. They don't use space wizards, they don't have massive mechs with super-science, they don't have endless hordes to throw at the enemy. They're just a regular-ass army.

Doesn't really matter, does it? Cause here's the thing, an Imperator Class Titan is better than anything the Tau can produce, and the Imperium actually does produce Imperator Class Titans on the regular from their forge worlds. Also, Tau vehicle technology such as Hammerheads and Barracudas aren't really considered superior to their Imperium counterparts.

>Given that the Imperium has psykers which can literally detect peoples souls that seems fairly unlikely.
Psykers are nonstandard in their abilities and the Imperium relies on technological sensors in their armiers, not psykers. You already knew this which makes you intentionally retarded here.
>So in other words,
Not other words. Deathwatch forbids the use of alien technology in other factions. They won't share whatever they have with other Imperials.
>This is blatantly untrue,
It's true. The T'au are barely 10K years old and have developed a functional Warp drive. The rest of the line is irrelevant to the point. What is this argument even?
>in pretty much every way the Imperium has superior technology to the Tau.
A big NO on that. The Imperium is inferior technologically wise.
>Meet an Imperator Titan.
You are citing titans against the alien faction with the most fleshed out titan killer weapons. Isn't that kinda dumb?

>Tau aren't the "advanced tech faction
They are!
Because they are superior to the Imperium and unlike the Necrons and Aeldari they are advancing rapidly.
>They aren't even the "elite soldier" faction, the Space Marines and Eldar do that better as well.
Dude, come on. Canonically, T'au infantry can handle Marines and match them shot to shot. And their sergeants are described as being as skilled in warfare as MARINE CAPTAINS.
That's not mentioning the suits which annihilate marines.

The funny thing. I have the receipts. I can screenie and copy-paste everything I said

>The only thing notable about the Tau is how...normal they are.
No, you retard. They are noted as PER THE FLUFF as being the faction whose firepower is second to none.
They are not sending their best here.
>>
>>92624282
>The Imperium can't make new Imperators.
They totally can though. The Imperium makes new Imperators all the time from their forge worlds. And keep in mind, the Imperium has like, a million worlds, while the Tau only have maybe 1,000 at most if they're lucky. In all likelihood, the Imperium probably has more Imperator class Titans than the Tau have mechs total.

HAHAHA
Get real.
I just told the other guy about titans vs T'au.
The T'au have Stormsurges, the FW suits/mechas, the upgraded tiger sharks, and the Mantas.
Even even their standard tank, the Hammerhead , has been known to take out titans.

That's ignoring that titans are too slow to handle a mobile army like the T'au.

>against the alien faction with the most fleshed out titan killer weapons
The Tau have never destroyed an Imperator Class Titan in all of their lore. The only Titans they've had to face so far have been Scout Titans and Warlord Titans.

>Because they are superior to the Imperium and unlike the Necrons and Aeldari they are advancing rapidly.
lmao, what tech advances have the Tau came up with recently? Rail rifles...oh wait they never issued those to every fire warrior like they were supposed to. But maybe they made a new battleship to handle Imperium battleships...oh wait, nope, their battleships are still closer in size to Imperium cruisers.

The only thing the Tau have really invented lately are a couple of new mechs, and their mech technology is still inferior to Imperium Titans. Meanwhile, the Imperium has had Cawl, pulling 100,000 new Space Marines out of his ass alongside new bolters, new safe plasma weapons similar to pulse weapons, new ship navigation and sensor technology, etc.

>They are noted as PER THE FLUFF as being the faction whose firepower is second to none.
Imperium basilisks and Necron...everything, would REALLY disagree with that statement.

>The Tau have never destroyed an Imperator Class Titan in all of their lore. The only Titans they've had to face so far have been Scout Titans and Warlord Titans.
You don't know that. There have been a number of legios deployed against the T'au. There was never full accounting of all the titan types used against them

And that doesn't counter the fact that among the alien factions, the T'au have the largest arsenal of titan killer weapon systems.

>lmao, what tech advances have the Tau came up with recently?
A new titan killer adaptation (picture related)
Suits powered by a Warp crystal.
The perfected Slipsteam Warp Drive.
Among others things mentioned in the recent lore.
>pulling 100,000 new Space Marines out of his ass alongside new bolters, new safe plasma weapons similar to pulse weapons, new ship navigation and sensor technology, etc.
And all of it are shit compared to T'au tech.

The new Primaris tank doesn't even have real grav!

NTA but out-shooting the Tau accounts for range, as in long-distance firefights with cover and ranged warfare.
Necron Weaponry is explicitly described as being the most powerful and dangerous weaponry to face, far exceeding the Tau's technology, their ranged arsenal is simply shorter-ranged than the firearms of the Tau and so requires more of them to close in on them before it attains maximum efficiency. Which, given they are Necrons (teleporting and self-repairing living metal skeleton robots), is not nearly as difficult as it might sound. Necrons don't need to 'out-shoot' the Tau, because when they close the distance (and they will) it turns into a slaughter.

>>
>>92624519
No, but I can see the length of their arm and the length of the sword. That is you maximum choppin' range, and it doesn't look like it extends beyond those fins on the bottom of the jetbike.
Therefore it would be better to use those fins for chopping, while you concentrate on flying and shooting.

From the Tau'ish perspective they're basically Gondor in LOTR.
>Enemies consists of hordes of enemies (Imperial Guard), with the occasional genetic monstrosity (Space Marines), and every now and then the enemy brings an Oliphant (Titans)
>The enemy is lead by a dark lord known for their persuasive abilities and dark magic
>When that doesn't work, the enemy turns to their dark magic (Pysker/Blanks, Chaos)
>The enemy is known for their heavy industry which scars the landscape
>Their only hope for survival is an alliance of the races
>The more scholarly Gondor has to call upon the more savage and warlike Rohan (Kroot) for aid

Right, and generally knights would ride horses and be seated, at most, 15 hands up, so their arse would have been about head and shoulders height compared to what they were charging into (given how western medieval warhorses are the equivalent of todays ponies). If your enemies are right below where your waist is then they're at an idea height o hack and slash at round their head with whatever weapon you choose to carry.
Jetbikes, now there you're going to want to be a good 2-3 metres off the ground unless you've a burning desire to be turned into a smear across the landscape, and therefore most enemies will be out of chopping range when you are seated in your sky-chariot.

same reason why bad moons became the posterboys of orks for a while around the same time: the 'eavy metal painted display armies are very small, rarely more than 1 unit of each kind, but at that time GW changed the scope of the promotional pictures it was taking for its codexes, the shots were to be bigger and bigger, but instead of painting more models to the eavy metal standard they relied on the studio's lower quality painted armies that were usually meant for apocalypse shots
but then the armies also received new models and they had to be painted under this new colour scheme instead of the normal one, so it initiated a vicious circle where the original scheme was practically erased
orks managed to walk back in it solely because they got a significant range refresh that allowed them to paint the new models in the old scheme rather than just bad moons

T'au dudes live between 40 years and 60 to 80 with medical aid. The T'au are youthful all their lives except the last final years of their lives that's when the effects of rapidly advanced aging manifest.
So from the average T'au fire warrior, you can expect 30+ years of service. Elderly fire warriors can retire to paradise worlds like Au'taal or join councils as advisors.

The Fifth Sphere expansion is very successful. They are not facing as much Imperial resistance as they did before because the Imperium Nihilus is pretty much a lawless anarchic free-for-all that the T'au can grab as many Imperial worlds as they want and expect mostly planetside resistance barring a few exceptions of course.

The sixth sphere expansion is implied in the 9th ed codex to have something to do with the Great Rift.

Sure, but the thing that makes it comical is that the Tyranids are so obviously hostile that it shouldn't even take sending one diplomat to realize that. That incident was put in the lore to show how naive the Tau were when they first started expanding.

Orks. Find me an Ork story that is bad. Orks are a good time and Ork players are fun dudes to play.

That story and the ZOAT stories are always goofy. I'm still confused at what the writers were going for with the Zoat emissary direction. I think they write GSC well but the Zoat thing was weird.

I've been getting my ass kicked by Orks since 5th edition. Their only bad Codex was the 3.5/4th codex that I saw a few games of as a kid.

I appreciate the fact that Orks arent 45 Loots 180 boyz now. I will say the match up again KFF Kan Wall and the 4 Battle Wagon games are fun. Nob Bikers was cancerous but had to engage correctly to win.

I'm going to actually read up a bit now. I forgot the Colossus fluff entirely.

There is a codex that has a Tau vs Tyranid breakdown over the course of a few engagements where the Tau keep changing tactics to fight the Tyranids since the Tyranids also adapt. It was a good 2-3 page read from the Tau's perspective.

The problem with the vindicator is that its in armies that have better units for that 195 pts. At 175 they might be more appealing but the rule associated with them just isn't good in an edition where everyone has a gimmick. Look at the russ demolisher, put just put the demolisher on the tank commander instead of taking the demolisher proper, and with the points drop, if you see guard taking russes, they'll probably be battle tanks or exterminators. IMO the only armies I think you'll see viondicators in are CSM, WE and Thousand Sons, DG and every flavor of marine just have better options.

Did you miss the official animation where the warlord survives a manta shot to the face then casually knocks it out of the sky? The stormsurge trick kills half the stormsurges by itself, truly a reliable weapon. Meanwhile Knight Commander Pask oneshots a titan by himself, Leman Russ Vanquisher confirmed better than Stormsurge?

From what I've gathered...a lot. No one tells a Shield Captain what to do except the Emperor and maybe a few people on Terra (High High Lords).
>>
>>92626994
When you think about it, the Emperor's obsession with genetics and psykers is the reason that humanity is so reliant on Space Marines today, instead of a better armed and equipped Imperial Guard.

Feel this game could have been so much better, the "stratagems" are gay as fuck and corpse running is a viable strategy. I wish it was more like Gears of War.
The normies munch it up though.

It IS really nice to shoot and run and stuff in this game, so they got that right at least, which makes the shallow gameplay that much more depressing.
>>
>>92627076
I just want to mix up some guns and maybe armor bits and Custards have a whole lot of stuff, but I want to figure out how much autistic screeching I’d cause unless I actively work out on what authority one of my captains has a guardian spear or vault sword

Except for most of the last 10,000 years, the Imperium hasn't replied on space marines. Remember, prior to the formation of the Great Rift, space marines were such a rare sight on the battlefield, that most guardsmen thought they were a myth that commissars would tell them about to keep morale up.

The Space Marines are the "get shit done" soldiers of the Imperium. Keep in mind that these so called 'rare sights' were deployed against the fucking Tau in pretty much every single conflict they've had with the Imperium. The smallest, tiniest, most insignificant xeno empire had the fucking Space Marines involved.

Not really. Prior to the Great Rift, most chapters were too obsessed with their own agendas to help with the wider Imperial war efforts. And the Imperial Guard won countless wars over the course of the last 10,000 years with no help at all from these supposed "get shit done" soldiers.

I have no clue if this post is serious but I'm getting tired of people who don't understand that the Tau don't represent a primary rival to the imperium but the kind of small alien empire that has no clue there are a grugzillion tyranids coming to eat them. They will, quite literally by the lore, never be a real contender because there are a bunch of other alien empires out there with a similar "these guys could be big, if only they weren't small in a universe in the end game scenario".

The Imperium spans hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of planets. Humans have been fucking around and spreading across the galaxy for millenia before the first t'au left the homeworld. Billions is a clerical error in the scale that the Imperium operates at.

There was a time when a group of Noise Marines were hunting a squad of Rangers only to wander into an ambush.
The Noise Marines were being pushed to their limit and were nearly on the verge of being wiped out, only for a squad of Howling Banshees to suddenly appear and charge them.
Rather than being debilitated by the Banshee screams, the Noise Marines were instead reinvigorated. They went only to slaughter the entire Eldar host except for a single Ranger, who was dragged back to their ship to be presented as a gift to their matron Keeper of Secrets.

The Eldar are a dying race with a lifespan of millennia willing to do whatever it takes to survive while having a prophecy about them engaging in MAD with Chaos meaning they view everyone else as expendable pawns. No one's a big fan of that.
The Imperium is a xenophobic empire built by a supremacist who failed to instill his reasoning and only his hatred in his followers before being turned into a deaf mute with full-body paralysis and put in what is essentially a matrix bio-battery pod to power an extra dimensional lighthouse until his soul is finally sucked out of his asshole and all he can do is watch as retards beat each other to death with half a clue.

GW must go out of business. Dont buy from them.

If GW goes out of business they cannot make nuLore and old lore will be forever. and the games can run via the community like how Bloodbowl and Mordheim were kept alive for decades (and more balanced).
They will also be unable to sue anyone and 3rd parties.

Why couldn't knight armies be allowed to take a more varied ally unit roaster
I love knights but it's true that they are very ap check and kinda boring to play.
But taking the one knight of 3 armigers as allies does not satisfy my knight itch!
I just really want a combined imperial force at the end of the day...
>>
>>92629512
>Why couldn't knight armies be allowed to take a more varied ally unit roaster
Sometimes I look at shit like space wolfs or death guard and I think some units would be cool in hanging out with a white scars motorbike khan or scarab occult terminators, but those units can't run together in the same army easily.

It feels like across the board taking some 'allies' should be easier, like in TOW, but because GW has too many fucking imperium armies they had to 'balance' it by blocking cooperation, since alien armies besides the eldar can't take allied guys.
