Since the Mech Monday thread is gone, what's the best JTRPG mech game that doesn't require Moonrune to read and play?
>>92699774There probably isn't any at the current moment. But the closest you can probably get is Princess Wing, if you're fine with Magical Girls with superior firepower.
>>92699774What happened to Mecha Monday?!
>>92700932It probably just fell off the board for the week fairly quick or something, also people may have been distracted by having a stand in for it over on /m/ where it can last a long time due to board speed.>>>/m/22545524
>>92699774>>92700034Didn't someone do a translation of Garako? (破界の塔_軽量版)
Does anyone know anything at all about pic related? I'm not sure if I believe it really exists.
What is F.E.A.R.?
>>92702418a company that makes gameshttps://www.fear.co.jp/
>>92702418>>92702655They are credited with, among other things, the Standard Roleplaying System (SRS).
>>92702737Quite an interesting read, that.
To the people that have played it, is it worth it to mess around with Call of Cthulu in preparation for the Shin Megami Tensei? I guess the only thing they really share is the percentile resolution mechanic.
>>92704738I haven't played CoC but I don't think it would help, the LionWing youtube channel has two replay episodes of the Nocturne TRPG so I guess that would be more insightful about the game system (though the dynamic between the players is very stiff and "paid to do that", but if you only want to get a glimpse of mechanics then it doesn't matter).https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/92030129/#q92030335There's also this thread with posts of someone that knows what they're talking about.
>>92702237It really exists. Can find copies on Amazon.jp
>>92704738Neither Tokyo Conceptions nor Mato Tokyo are a skill-based d% system, but more-so stats based. The game is very data-heavy, but not really crunchy rules-wise, and there are no "I'll roll Education (Chemistry)" type situations really. That's to say, CoC won't prepare you for SMT. It has a unique system all things considered.
>>92699774Currently Revulture is translated, and Embryo Machine (which is probably the best dedicated mech game) will probably be finished in a few monthes.I'd also recommend Tokyo Nova. The mech/vehicle rules are excellent even if it's not a mech game.

Every time I see these threads I end up buying more books. Metallic Guardian and the Radiant Brave supplement book are on the way. Look at all of these totally original mecha designs. And there's a new supplement for Tenka Ryoran that just came out last week. Always something new calling my name.
>>92706517Is there any translation for Metallic Guardian?
Are there any scans of any parts of "Blue Forest Story" TTRPG?https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%96%E3%83%AB%E3%83%BC%E3%83%95%E3%82%A9%E3%83%AC%E3%82%B9%E3%83%88%E7%89%A9%E8%AA%9E
>>92706797Dunno, haven't gone looking. I'll just translate the sample characters to start with so I can GM for my friends and then move on to whatever mecha they want to play after that.

Anyone know some good sites to buy japanese rulebooks from? I live in Europe so shipping is probably going to be a pricey affair either way.
>>92699577So, I´ve heard that there have been Sword World replays that recently got translated?
>>92708995You can buy a ton digitally from Bookwalker or even Amazon. For physical, you can use proxy sites (buyee, zenmax, whatever)

>>92715953This is a PC from a Card Ranker replay - a freelance Ranker running a shop who is actually a Card Spirit who rules over what they call the "Underworld". They run a black deck. I believe the lady is his signature monster, Persephone.https://note.com/vorpal_notch/n/n571e2febb245
>>92715953>>92715980For the record, decks in Card Ranker are organized by color, like Magic: the Gathering, so if you like to color wheel your characters, you'll feel right at home. Card Ranker uses six colors - the 5 MtG colors plus "Gold" for earth/technology.White>Pure, Sacred, Militant>Most cards are simple to use. Has a good balance of attack, defense, healing and support cards. Also, there are many cards that destroy themselves to activate effects.Blue>Silence, Water, Ocean>There are many cards to seal the powers of your opponents, and cards related to blocking. Also, there are cards that allow you to meddle with the rules and control the flow of the game.Green>Wild, Forest, Nature>Powerful and, like White, has many easy-to-use cards. It is also good at *Risk management and applying abnormal status.Gold>Minerals, Luck, Machinery>A color that has many cards that allow for management of *magic cards and dice, as well as having many defensive cards. There are also many monster cards that can turn themselves into magic cards.Red>Powerful Emotion, Fire, Explosion>A color that specializes in destroying monster cards. It is feared among Soul Card players as a deck-destroying color. Also, it’s attack power is high.Black>Destruction, Darkness, Blasphemy>It controls destruction and revival, and has many cards with powers tied to destruction and revival of cards. Also has cards which balance merits and demerits.

Are MTL translations considered s bad thing? Obviously not just copy-paste but going for clarity in rules and such. I don't speak moon but what I'm working on seems useful enough.
>>92724854I'm no translator but MTL is certainly more of a "niche" product, a decent % of people certainly don't take it very seriously.Obviously there's people that want a thing so much, that they're willing to go through the extra hops of trying to understand awkward MTL.If you're doing it, I would say keep going, just be honest about how you label it (half-MTL with some human touch-ups), and be aware that less people are going to read or spread it compared to a fully traditional TL.
>>92724854Not entirely a bad thing since it still takes tremendous effort to buy the book overseas, scan it, transcript hundred pages of text, clarify, and fix the poetry text from the MTL.But if you just copy and paste, die.
>>92724854As long as it makes sense, it's fine. I've machine translated some stuff with human touch ups and unless you already know the source... you would never know it wasn't originally written in English.
>>92718770We only got the smallest of teasers last thread that the Card Ranker scanlation is indeed in the works.
>>92726504>Drop a 5 second title photoshop job>Provide no actual information on projectTranny moment
>>92726669To be fair, that particular edit is on the actual book cover, meaning they should have the raws.
>>92726669Hi, tranny here! Our transition is going well!
>>92726828Very nice. How do you feel about the rules of the system from what you've seen so far?
>>92726872Quite similar to Shinobigami, but not surprised since it involves Satasupe/Shinobigami's authors and folk from APS.
>>92726828Do your group intend to translate books 2 and 3?
>>92728174All three books were uploaded at once, so I imagine they're on the docket for them if they want to get around to them.
>>92726828Hell Yeah!!
>>92724854If you're doing it for personal use instead of expecting a community to form and use your work, maybe. It's easy to think that MTL can't fuck up dry technical things like rules(plus there's going to be jtrpg jargon plus jargon unique to that game). It looks rough, but sounds correct so you brush it up a little to make it sound like good english but then *bam* it's all fundamentally flawed and nobody is any wiser. You'd actually need to be able to read it to some extent. If you get someone else who could read to check your MTL, they might as well do it all from the start because they'd need to read and go over the source material to actually properly check anything anyway.
>>92726828How much is left, at least of book 1?
>>9273172060%To be clear, I'm not affiliated with any translator in last year's Card Ranker threads, the translation was just started recently.
>>92699577>shin megami tenseihell yeah
>>92706517>ZOIDSBased. I can hear that fucking intro even now, belting in my ears like it's an early 2000's Saturday morning.
For anyone who's played SW 2.5 before, a friend wants to play but he would be my only player. I read about the Fellow system, but it seems unless the player picks a martial class the game either becomes unplayable due to him being the only target, or trivialized by Fellows with Block. Any ideas? Also, is there any sourcebook on how to build dungeons or prepare games with this system?
>>92737915I'm still in the planning phase of my SW 2.5 campaign, I'm lucky about having 3 players but yeah I saw that the beginning of the Core Rulebook 1 points out how the system was made with a party balance on mind, I'm not sure how to navigate having 1 player (so not the best person to be answering you in the first place), but I saw that there's the "Duo Adventure" campaign book here >>92709593 that's focused on 2 players, each player with a prince or princess to find out who wins in the end (it can even be played solo actually).
dunno if it counts, but they've been working on a SW2.5 mod for Foundary.github.com/jeannjeann/sw25-fvttInstallationThere may be some hitches here and there, as it was co-produced by the japanese and one of the translators of the SWTP group.
>>92737915I would suggest that, instead of using a Fellow, you make an actual PC companion to their character so they aren't forced to build a fighter just to survive (that and because fellow actions are random so you can't really depend on cover or blocking). There is a Dungeon Generation book for 2.0 (Endless Maze) and Raxia life on 2.5 that has a guide on Scenario making, but sadly there is still no translation for those books yet.
>>92738391Apparently Raxia Life is planned for around summer, so shouldn't be too far off.
>>92738476Nice to hear their translations are still going on smoothly. Having gotten used to fan translations from long ago, seeing projects actually move forward and have releases is still a novel feeling.
>>92726669same thing happened with Terra the Gunslinger.

>>92747150I like the old edition art more.
>>92750169Oh that seems to fit the tone of the rest of the book more. But at this point for a "urban chuuni with demons" system I think that I'll wait for the Nocturne TRPG.

>>92752248Satasupe, starts as an assassination mission and off course to building a brothel
>>92747150Hell yeah!
>>92750227Nocturne isn't really urban compared to post-apoc (it's all vortex world basically, as far as I know) but 200X is SMT1 & 2, and defaults to modern Tokyo. (see last thread)Also, does anyone have role and roll magazines somewhere? I am looking for vol.41 in particular (2008, so its old as hell)
