>>Wal Mart has a bunch of CC, Stalker, Cobra Trooper retro card figures no one wants clogging shelves for nearly a year, causing countless waves to not show up since the store won't order new ones until these sell out.

>>
>>11634672
Their MO appears to be to do a low-production initial run to feel out the demand, and when/if it sells out, do a second run. In that time they usually end up over-producing to turn a successful figure into an over-produced toy that's hard to sell.

And the Ghost Viper already had its second run, and maybe a third run as it's now showing up in stores that didn't initially get it two months ago. The first run completely sold out in around one day. Now it's looking like it might a clearance-sale figure in a month or two.
>>
>>11634872
I don't think they're second runs, because stores take forever to reorder anything from the manufacturer, Hasbro takes even longer to start production again, and it takes about month to ship something from China

What's likely happening is just normal restocking issues at the distrubtion level. Figuring out if they have enough to restock certain stores without taking too much from other stores that need it and then shipping things out.
>>
>>11634872
>Now it's looking like it might a clearance-sale figure in a month or two.
I wouldn't complain to be honest, I just got into Joes. But I am in the 3rd world shithole called canada and I cannot find it online anywhere within canada. Local places are not an option for me unfortunately
>>
>>11634921
I'll be happy with scalpers wanting as much as $100 for it getting burned on it.
>>
>>11634915
The Ghost Viper was initially sold out, then a couple of weeks later stores got more in. Cold Slither also initially sold out only for new inventory to show up a bit later. Crystal Ball too. First it was a successful sellout, and now some stores are clearance-pricing it.

That's my basis for what I posted.

Sold out doesn't mean what you think it does then, if you think Hasbro could start production on it again in less than 6 months.
First, Walmart would have to reorder it, which would take a while for the bean counters to figure out what actual demand is like (SUPER FUCKING UNLIKELY even if they sold half a million units). Then Hasbro would need need to interrupt the factory's current schedule to start production on the figure (SUPER FUCKING UNLIKELY unless it was million+ units, because that's putting another toyline on hold). Production time could be anywhere from a a few weeks to months, depending on the amount order. Finally shipping takes a month to get shit from China to Walmart (walmar basically has their trucks sitting at the docks to ship things directly to their distribution warehouses), maybe longer since the Christmas rush started 3 months ago.

And what do you mean by sold out? Because if it's sold out online, it just means that whatever allocation they had to their webstore is "sold out", but there's still stock in the distribution warehouses and stores. If it's sold out in stores, it might just be sold out in a specific store until it gets restock from storage in the back OR regional warehouse. And due to how distribution works, sometimes not all stores get all their stock in until a month later. Since the united states is a very large country, it can takes weeks for a shipment to get to your store, especially if a specific store doesn't have priority.
So the distribution warehouses might have plenty of stock for the Ghost Viper, but who to give stock to can take a while to figure things out and since it's the holiday season now, other products might be more important to ship out with the daily/tri-weekly trucks. There's limited space on the trucks and GI Joe hasn't been popular for years now.

When I was a kid I wanted a G.I.Joe (the OG 12 inch and that Space Capsule I would have murdered for) but I had a Big Jim and a couple of Action Jackson's. (which I made my own damned spacesuit for out of fire fighting gear and a carefully cut capsule from a gum machine for a helmet.
By the time the 1/18 joes came out I didn't have that much interest.
Later in life my reawakened interest and in photography and my in the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. got me interested in joes again.
But I never collected O-ring figures and never had the nostalgia for them.
I still don't and really do not get the love.
Can someone sell me without using "nostalgia" as a reason to buy them.
I find them okay as background figures but not center stage.

Large quantities of both figures and vehicles. The vehicles and playsets were stuff that was just impossible to have in a larger size.

Plus the cartoon was incredibly well-written for an 80s kid cartoon. It even did dark shit most cartoons of the era dared not to do, like show dead bodies.

>>
>>11641679
i don't think people actually want o-rings.
Like Classified, people are only buying it because it's the ONLY option in America if you want a 1:18 scale GI Joe line.

And part of the reason why o-ring engineering is popping up is because it's cheaper to produce than modern 1:18 lines.

BTW, I don't care for o-ring and I've been buying GI Joes since 84.

That's how I feel, I've been collecting Joes since the 80s and I still have a box of original O-Ring figures buried somewhere in my closet. But I don't really care to buy them these days because modern figures are just so much better in almost every way. I get it, the nostalgia factor gives them a bit of charm, but even as a kid I wanted my toys to be the *best* toy it could be, which is the whole reason why I loved the G.I. Joe figures. Other lines had less articulation, less detail, less accessories, intrusive gimmicks, boring characters and so many other problems. But G.I. Joe in the 80s and early 90s were just awesome figures in almost every way. Once those Modern Era build figures hit, it was like being a kid again, the early ones were kinda rough but they improved by leaps and bounds and towards the end of the run each figure was a little work of art (Retaliation Wave 3 is still one of my favorite waves of the line).

I view Classified in kind of the same way as the ME stuff, the first few figures were rough, and there's some low spots and nit picks, but overall it's probably the best western toyline being made and one of the best Joe lines overall.

>>11641834
They really need to put out a mass market HISS V, one that's not a DTC release or Con exclusive.

>>11641919
The first Vader isn't worth something because it's good, it's worth something because it's old. But I'll gladly take a newer, cheaper, *better* toy over an expensive old figure because the value in the figure for me isn't how much I can resell it for, the value is in how much fun I can have with it.

>>11641981
.....Super Heroes? I mean, there's a billion marvel figures you can get that have nothing to do with weapons, army or guns. Hell, most toylines these days have nothing to do with military stuff, you should be buying stuff based on what the kid likes, not what his family hates.

The O-ring stuff will always have stuff over the other scales that the others just don't have. That keeps them appealing.
>>
>>11641834
>Speak for yourself.
I don't think I am, since the o-ring stuff doesn't seem as popular as modern 1:18.

Every attempt at o-ring is extremely niche and doesn't s eem to get as much support as any modern 1:18 line. Every modern engineered 1:18 line that got a kickstarter got way more support than an o-ring line by 2-10x.

Like i said, the only reason we're even talking about o-ring right now is because it's the only thing that Hasbro allows to be released in the US for GI Joe.

>>11642327
Vehicles and playsets like that are just 1:18. So it's not that o-ring is appealing, it's just that it works with anything 1:18 scale.
o-ring is just outdated engineering and purposely outdated sculpts.

Yet it still sells and the original stuff will always be worth more than what you decide is the best version. And I noticed your mental gymnastics with wanting the O-ring stuff repurposed for 1:18.

Dude. When Hasbro did the "retro" O-ring Joes, they had crappy plastic rivets, and a paint job and overall feel in the hands that made them look noticably lower-quality than the originals. And they were $20 each (in 2-packs for $40) against the $25 average price of a Classified. Then Reaction+ charges $25 for one against a $27 average price for a regular Classified.

>Vehicles and playsets like that are just 1:18. So it's not that o-ring is appealing, it's just that it works with anything 1:18 scale.
Technically, O-ring stuff being (slightly) smaller than modern 1:18 figures means they're easier to fit into 1:18 vehicles than actual 1:18 figures; same reason why 1:12 figures fit better in 1:10 cars than 1:12 ones (unless you use smaller than average figures like Figma anime characters). It's one of those weird things with action figure design where unless the cockpit/vehicle seat is intentionally oversized and simplified it's quite hard to squeeze a same-scale figure in.

Do people care about the new Classified HISS tank?
>>
>>11642967
I did up until the $200 price. I don't like it that much to pay that. Personally I think it would have been cooler in a dark red for a Crimson HISS. But I guess that they wanted it as a counter to the Snowcat.
>>
>>11642967
Not winter themed. If it had been the blue one then great, but don't need arctic shit.

but i don't like the missile rack and don't really care about winter stuff enough to dedicate this kind of space to it
can't justify dropping $200 to steal some parts off it
>>
>>11643127
It would have been cheaper if they had just remade the same thing but different color. But they had to alter and re-tool a bunch of shit, so now it's $200.

Transformers, He-man, Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, Jurassic Park, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Halo, Fortnite, Gundam, Marvel, DC, Adventure sets from Chap Mei, Star Wars and stuff like that.
>>
>>11643188
There's nothing new there, though. Maybe some of the railing around the missile launcher, and the little rolled up tent or blanket or whatever that hands off the side, and I am pretty sure that comes with the SnowCat.

The missile launcher was already on the Stinger, and the Joe version of the Trench Viper set with the Steel brigade guy. The figure is just a Snow Serpent with a HISS Driver head. There might be a new gun part on the turret, but that's about it.

I thought it was pretty obvious it was going to be $200.
>>
>>11634250
I wish they gave her a better body, I would have bought two and did some head swaps with my spare Baroness heads.
>>
>>11643336
You might be talking to the guy who throught the Ghost Viper would be $30 because it was mostly reuse that pops up here and spams those walmart images

>>
>>11643395

>>
>>11643400
The Desert Scorpion sold at the same time was $44 and right next to it is the Ghost Viper in the same size box for $60. The Desert Scorpion is all-new. The GV is around 85% recycled kitbash. Hell even Hawk with MMS that was a whole lot more toy was like $12 more than the GV.

Ghost Viper is a cool figure, but they sold it at a "doesn't make sense" price.
>>
>>11643443
Ghost V was made for Wal Marts collectors con and was budgeted like a convention exclusive
D Scorpion was part of a wave and everything in a wave is budgeted together.
They're objectively not comparable if you're trying to say one cost more than the other to produce.
>>
>>11643477

>>11642967
I'm vulnerable toward getting one since I backed the snow cat. I already have the Haslab HISS but I could potentially see this thing in my vehicle fleet, if for no other reason than because I want to photograph it in the snow.

I think it's a good deal overall. $200 is a fair price, it doesn't devalue the Haslab HISS since it's a variant, it gives owners of the original a reason to double dip without being a "here's a better replacement for the thing you already have," and it comes with different accessories which makes up for it coming with less.

Man, can't believe how good the upcoming Baroness is! I'm so happy they announced it, she looks amazing with a reuse of the great Rattler head and body in all black! I was worried for a minute that we were going to go another event without a Baroness reveal, that would have been really saddening, but Hasbro always come through! Thanks Hasbro, now I don't need to hang myself from the attic rafters!
>>
>>11642825
I don't think it's economics, considering theres been kickstarters that get way less support just because they're o-ring, while anything with modern engineering got better results.
>>11642779
>And I noticed your mental gymnastics with wanting the O-ring stuff repurposed for 1:18.
wat? vehicles and playsets literally don't have o-rings. It's just 1:18 scale.

>>11642889
the reason that 1:18 vehicles feel undersized is because it's "showroom" pretty. When you see a car being displayed, the seats are going to be put forward, because it looks better. Plus, there's no give in the cushion because they're hard plastic instead of foam/leather/whatever.
This is why 1:18 tanks and planes have no problem fitting in 1:18 figures, yet diecast 1:!8 cars do.

And yes, technically old toylines are not 1:18, but 3.75" scale, but it's the same shit. And the old GI Joe vehicles have a lot of leeway for fitting in larger scales, unlike actual 1:18 scale vehicles.

Sounds like bullshit. I have that figure and it's 100% the original version with a helmet, gun holsters, and flight vest. I admit that it would look cool in black and to a wider audience not bound by nostalgia, it would probably sell better in black than blue, but I still have my doubts.

I keep checking here every day for new posts but man is it slow. I'm down at my father's house taking care of him while he's on Hospice. Been going through my old stuff he kept in the basement all these years. He kept shit I don't even remember getting. Found a couple boxes of comics, lots Joe issues but I haven't had time to go through anything. There's an old toy box of mine from the 80's down there maybe I'll find some gold. Just digging around a bit I did find an old Punisher. He's gonna have to go on a Joe shelf classified is all I really collect anymore.

Not a lot came out this month. It was just one Classified figure, and four O-ring figures that I thought were cool but not many others share that sentiment. There's news of a coming Deep Six that looks unexciting as well as a strut from what's presumed tob e from Zartan's Swamp Skier.

So there just isn't a lot new to discuss. And sorry about your father. It was this time last year mine was on hospice, and it's a horrible thing to go through. I lost him four days before Christmas. Cherish the time you have with him right now. It's the best you can do.

I actually have the retro Cobra Commander from the Classified line and love him. I do agree that from what I've seen this seems to be where Hasbro is putting most of their time and effort. I'm admittedly bummed out they've abandoned 1/18 but I'm glad the Classified line seems to be doing well.

>>11648505
Yea, I get that feeling. I have a fairly large collection of ME joes and I would *love* if Hasbro went back and gave that line the attention it so rightly deserved. So many big name characters without actually decent figures or classic vehicles without updates. Hell, we never even got a decent classic Duke in the 1:18 line.

Classified is honestly a fantastic line, but it's a bit of a bittersweet thing to collect for me. As great as these Joes are at the larger scale, I'll always prefer them smaller and with more vehicles and bases.
>>
>>11648580
>Hell, we never even got a decent classic Duke in the 1:18 line.
Jesus, really? He's THE Joe. That's wild. I was looking online for a Baroness and didn't see one I was sold on either. It'll get reissued. It was absolutely made for that purpose of being a "double-dip" figure. It'll be a different color, have different accessories, and maybe the hair will be different, but it'll be back out again.
>>
>>11648706
If you mean 1:18 Joes, there's a LOT of good ones out there but I doubt any of em will be particularly easy to get. Also, I never really cared specifically for "accuracy" to any media, so what I consider "great" many others will think are awful.

That said, the Ultimate Cobra Commander from the final wave of the Retaliation line is probably one of the best CCs ever made. He doesn't come with much in the way of accessories, but the few he has are perfect for him. But he has both of his classic heads, old school helmet with vac metal shiny face plate AND the hooded look. The Storm Shadow from that wave is also one of the best versions of the figure, though his silly giant gimmick item isn't as cool as CCs.

Honestly that whole final wave was filled with fantastic figures, a good mix of Classic, Movie and even some Comic and Concept Case characters all with loads of gear and cool gear. Other good waves are pretty much anything from the Pursuit of Cobra line or the 30th Anniversary stuff. The 50th Anniversary line also had some really nice sets and multi-packs, great for people who were new to the line. The SAW Viper/BAT/Female Trooper set was especially nice, it was super rare to find a three pack with nothing but army builders.

The most recent Retro wave stuff from wal-mart was a really sad attempt to restart the line. It featured an odd mix of new, but oddly proportioned figures combined with older, out dated figures. The fact they rolled out that old 25th mold for Duke, AGAIN, was just an awful choice. Some figures like Stalker or Destro were actually really nice, and the Troopers weren't bad. But most of that run was just one bad decision after another.

It's sadly been years since I could bust out the old Joes though, just hard to find time and space for that stuff.
>>
>>11649596
>The most recent Retro wave stuff from wal-mart was a really sad attempt to restart the line.
If that was the goal, then it was incredibly half-assed. The figures just looked so cheap. Doing "cartoon colors" sure as shit didn't help either. Doing Transformers crossovers was stupid too because all that did was inflate the price as if $40 for two 3.75" Joes wasn't already expensive.

IF this was a serious attempt, and not a "LET'S DELIBERATELY MAKE IT SHITTY SO PEOPLE NEVER BOTHER US ABOUT IT AGAIN" attempt, then it failed miserably.
>>
>>11649574
True but man it looks great to start
I don't think a second version would be as good
Like how I just wanted a single Cobra Island Viper and we never got one till way later and it was worse looking on like every level and didn't have the cool goggles
>>
>>11649603
You seem to confusing the Wal-Mart exclusive ME Retro wave with the short lived O-ring remakes. The O-Ring figures weren't the most amazing things ever, but they were pretty much the best an O-Ring remake could be.

The Joe x Transformer crossovers was a totally different thing though, and they were getting better with each release. The last one, the Kup TTT, was supposedly a really solid figure and rumors of a Prime Mobat have been running for ages. I really like the two I got, though Megatron does have a LOT of problems. I would love it if they dropped a Starscream Stiletto or something so I could get the Decepticon big three. And I would've much rather they were ME scale, but I can see the appeal of making them as close in size to the originals as possible.

But yes, the Wal-Mart "Retro" line was very half assed, they could've done so much better but I don't think anyone involved really wanted to try.

Alright, here's a chance for the Hasbro GI Joe team to finally make some SF figures for the classified line. Just use the live action models. Pretty sure JADA only has the license for videogame likeness. Live SF would actually work better in classified.
>>
>>11649863
If they make Classified versions of Street Fighter figures, I'd want them to be like the original 3 3/4" Street Fighter figures and have them use G.I. Joe builds for em. That means Chun-Li from Ninja Force Scarlet, Blanka from Road Pig, Ken from Storm Shadow, Ryu from Slice and Zangief from Gnawgahyde. Hell, they can just take the current Slaughter body and make Guile, thought that one may be too on the nose. I'd want my G.I. Joe Street Fighter figures to look different from actual Street Fighter designs, because that's what made them special.

Also, half those characters look like bad AI and I fear this movie will actually be worse then the old 90s one.
>>
>>11649863
If those are the designs they'd be using, I'd just rather they not even make them at all.
>>
>>11649640
Maybe the second version will depreciate the first one a little bit to make it more obtainable. Who knows? Personally I'd like for them to re-do it in black with a big red cobra emblem on the chest. If Hasbro would do that, then it would be easy money for them.
>>
>>11649863
If they wanted to add licensed properties to help fill out the Classified catalog, then I think Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter, and Splinter Cell would be better fits.

Konami has embargoed American companies from doing Metal Gear toys after Todd McFarlane spoiled Metal Gear Solid 2's infamous twist with the sole exception being Ashley Wood who did a series of Metal Gear mech figures and even then only got to do it because he did promotional artwork for Konami and sold his mech toys direct to consumers.

And Hasbro has open contempt for FPS stuff, so you'll never get a crossover line for that. Especially since the only ones that might actually sell IE Modern Warfare and Halo, are held by rival companies

As other Anons pointed out, G.I. Joe X Street Fighter is already a thing, which is the only reason why people want to see it. And there's a super easy way Hasbro could pull it off (licensing issues not withstanding) where the figures would be unique to the Classified line.

A real velociraptor was only the size of a turkey. The dinosaur Crichton and Spielberg used was a deinonychus. IF Hasbro is gonna include "dino-buddies" with figures, then they could score a few points by getting it right.

For real? He worked with Baroness shoulder-to-shoulder from day 1 of Cobra. She was the first named and uniquely-identifiable character in Cobra so Cobra Commander could have someone to talk to besides generic blueshirts.

>Dr. Knox spent several days with Cobra Commander in the tech room of a Terrordrome in Siberia, working over the blueprints of Serpentor and the viral delivery module. Knox noticed that Zartan and Baroness were spying on them from outside the sealed door, but Cobra Commander didn't care
I meant he was literally stuck in room with Knox for over a week and he didn't seem to mind. Baroness is always being sent away on missions and let's not forget she has betrayed CC multiple times for different reasons.

Baroness, Copperhead, and a random assortment of troops were the only people who remained loyal to CC after Cobra-La turned him into a snake after the cartoon. In the comic books she was the only one who knew who CC really looked like, and knew that before Cobra he was a used-car salesman.

Yeah I know a lot of shit came later on, such as comic book writers deciding that Baroness is too popular for a villain so let's have Duke recruit her for the Joes. That shit's just too retarded for me.

>Baroness, Copperhead, and a random assortment of troops were the only people who remained loyal to CC after Cobra-La turned him into a snake after the cartoon.
IIRC in the early DIC episodes Destro dumped the Baroness for Zarana, and the Baroness reacted like "this would never have happened when Cobra Commander was in charge". They had just Gnawgahyde and a very small number of troops with them, less than ten I think, with Copperhead a last-minute addition they bribed into betraying Serpentor. On the part of the Baroness it's more like a woman scorned acting out than her having stayed loyal to Cobra Commander all along, which clearly wasn't the case through Sunbow season 2 and the movie.

>such as comic book writers deciding that Baroness is too popular for a villain so let's have Duke recruit her for the Joes. That shit's just too retarded for me.
It's very likely a slow-burn to her suddenly yet inevitably betraying the Joes to join Cobra. If it still hasn't happened in a year or two I'd be surprised.
>>
>>11651703
Cobra Commander worked alongside Knox to further his goals rather than bending her to his will or swaying her to believe in him as a supreme ruler. Baroness to CC is a fanatical follower with a complex that lets her emotions overtake her sense of reason at times. Meanwhile Knox is an highly intelligent opportunist that frequently favors working for CC despite not being fanatically loyal. They are fundamentally different.
>>
>>11651842
And Knox gives up that ass to CC for cooming.
>>
>>11651845
Their private meetings after working long hours together in the lab or tech room are mutually beneficial. Knox gets a welcome reprieve from thinking too much about her projects not meeting her standards and CC gets some relief from his stressful job running Cobra.

>It would have been a boring fighter game. GI Joe really needs to be like Metal Gear Solid, Syphon Filter , and other such military games.
I'd go with something like Star Wars Battlefront personally, but variety in types of games isn't a bad thing. A Capcom GI Joe vs SF game would've been a standard 90s Capcom fighter, but it could've brought in a new generation of fans in a way a dedicated Joe game wouldn't.

The MGS games are heavily driven by character development and interaction. Much like classic GI Joe, they combine real-world military with sci-fi elements. That's why I think an MGS-style game would be a better fit.

As a Dreadnok car it's perfect. That said I feel like the 1/12 Acid Rain line has an identity crisis. >Konami has embargoed American companies from doing Metal Gear toys after Todd McFarlane spoiled Metal Gear Solid 2's infamous twist

What? Details please!
>>
>>11653348
Metal Gear Solid 2 infamously does a huge fake after the first mission/tutorial level you play through. You start the game playing as Solid Snake (series protagonist) but after that first tutorial mission, Snake goes missing and is presumed dead (in truth, he fakes his death and continues to appear in game as an NPC character and reveals himself alive at the end of the game). And you switch over to the real protagonist, an ugly twink named Raiden.

Knowing fans would be pissed about the bait and switch in protagonists (especially given how popular Solid Snake was in the US), Konami famously went above and beyond to hide this twist; going so far as to force video game magazines to sign NDAs to not talk about the twist and to make them run doctored screen shots of Solid Snake inserted into later game scenes where in truth, you play as Raiden. Todd was forced to sign said NDAs too along with being told that while he could make a Raiden figure, that he could not mention him being the protagonist and the plot point of Snake being presumed dead. Which Todd ignored as he spoiled the entire twist about Snake "dying" and Raiden taking over as the lead character on the biography text on the back Raiden's card back AND releasing the figures weeks before MGS hit US shelves.

>>
>>11653782
So the HISS is $200 but it comes with these three figures? At $27 each that's $81. That leaves $119 for the price of the HISS itself, which is the cost of two Ghost Vipers. I can live with that price.
>>
>>11653940
>comes with these three figures?
No
>>
>>11652171
Eh, MGS style gameplay is *too* character focused. I mean it could work as a Snake Eyes game, where he's the only character you play as, but a G.I. Joe game really needs to be able to spread it's focus across both factions, multiple characters AND let you drive the vehicles.

>>11652367
Without the Decals, this is sort of like a Python Patrol AWE Striker. It's cool they're doing a 1:12 vehicle, but it's absurdly boring that Acid Rain of all brands is doing such a bog standard design. They have some fantastic, unique rides in their smaller scales, so something this simple just comes off as uninspired.

>>11653341
I don't want to be the one defending Amazon, but I've had prime for years and I get 90% of my stuff within two days. Hell, sometimes I've gotten things the same day. The company as a whole is atrocious, but their shipping works on magic pixie dust...and slavery.

>>11653488
Lies are easy to spread on the internet.

>>11653625
JP companies always seem hesitant to license their characters. Unless they're teenage girls, then they get a billion skimpy bikini statues in every size.

>>11653782
The Joe looks neat but the other two kind of look boring. They're too straight as repaints, they really could've used some new builds to make them look more arctic-y.

For me, I already have two Snow Serpents and the Arctic BAT on order, so that's enough snow units for me. The HISS tank is STILL super tempting though, if I didn't have the original I would certainly be biting on this one.
>>
>>11653984

>>
File: IceViper.jpg (219 KB, 496x1000)
219 KB
219 KB JPG
>>11653782
So their solution to the lack of many snow-themed figures was just some straight-up white repaints of existing figures with basically no alterations at all? I mean, they look ok, but there are actual snow/arctic themed figures and characters that would be way more appreciated that haven't been made yet. Give us some Ice Vipers or something, instead of just repainting SAW and Night Vipers.
>>
>>11654070
The Artic HISS driver is based on the same Frankenstein figure included in the original 25th Anniversary version of Artic HISS.

Also the figure in the pic you posted is tied to another vehicle.
>>
>>11654070
>instead of just repainting SAW and Night Vipers.
It's a cheap way to make a profit and I have a feeling that in the coming year they'll be doing lots of "He-Man" figures made up of re-used parts after the success of the Ghost Viper that was still somehow still successful in spite of total shit distribution and a price that ws $20 over what it should have been.
>>
>>11654271
.....so you seem to be new because part reuse has been a thing since the 80s. It's standard practice in the toy industry in general across many different lines. In fact, my only issue with these two figures is that they *didn't* frankenstein these figures enough, they're just straight repaints and that makes them boring. The SAW Viper could've used Snow Serpent's arms to make him look more wintered up, the Drift Viper could've used the Iron Grenadier coat to give him a completely new look to warrant him being a new army builder. There are things that *should* have changed about them other then the color to make these guys feel unique, but sadly that's not what happened.

Grim Viper is a good example of a new character made of frankensteined parts. He's just a mix of bits from various other figures to make something new. I'd LOVE to see more of that in the line, especially when it ends up being something cool. One of my favorite Cobra from the ME era was a frankensteined nobody and if they made him in Classified I'd buy him up instantly.

tl:dr Your post is dumb and you should feel bad.
>>
>>11654366
What I said is true. It's a cheap way to make a profit. You can't debunk that. And Hasbro is clearly steering in the direction of doing it more than they did for the first few years of the line.
>>
>>11654392
....there's nothing to debunk, it's literally what toy companies have been doing for decades. Classified has been doing it since the line started. It's a way to minimize costs while maximizing profits, that's common knowledge. You are not pointing out anything new or revolutionary and nothing you said is special, part re-use is why we can get so many figures pumped out in so little time. And I'm not saying you're wrong for pointing this out, I'm saying you're dumb for pointing out the obvious.

Also, again, it's not a bad thing. Grim Viper is awesome, some of the best ME figures were frankensteined creations, and it's been something they've been doing since the line first started.
>>
>>11654392
>Hasbro is clearly steering in the direction of doing it more than they did for the first few years of the line.
Back when Hasbro had hopes it was going to make money, of course they produced brand new sculpts.
With GI Joe in a steep decline, cheapo repaints is the only way they can make a new product.

I have some potentially great news if there's any 2025 Joes that you are still looking for and you haven't had luck yet, specifically the Ghost Viper. I was at Wal-Mart today for some last minute Christmas shopping, and they got in a fuckton of GI Joes, likely because they shuffled around their inventory in preparation for Christmas. They had two Ghost Vipers in stock (I already have one so I didn't buy), along with a bunch of other Joes and Cobras from the past year like the Falcon and Quarrel two-pack (which I also already have but they had multiples at my store all of a sudden). So if there's any 2025 gaps in your collection get your ass to Wal-Mart.
>>
>>11655897
Not fucking every Walmart is like that. My god damn Walmart, for Christmas, put out three more cases of the shelf warming Cobra Trooper/CC/Stalker wave on top of the two cases already shelfwarming. A move that effectively ensures that my local Walmart won't get a god damn new case of ANYTHING until 2027 at the earliest, especially since they refuse to carry vehicle sets or the deluxe set figures (having never actually seen the piece of shit Ghost Viper figure at retail or any other Walmart exclusive figure).

My nearest Walmart doesn't even have that. It has the Blowtorch/Frag Viper wave from the summer, and that's it. It has a massive ton of Jurassic Park shit that I guess they plan on holding on to until not even Ollie's can sell that shit off. The thing is it's not a shit side of town. Three miles down the road, and there's the Ferrari Dealer. Two miles in the other direction, and you have a Porsche dealer and a Cadillac dealer that only sells six-figure Escalades. And right across the street is a BMW dealer.

Yet it just can't get anything good for jack shit anything.

>having never actually seen the piece of shit Ghost Viper figure
The GV did finally show up in my city in early DECEMBER two months after its release according to their site "pick up option," but it showed up on a Mexican-filled shit side of town for some reason. Fuck that. I value my life too much, especially during Christmas time when Mexican "pistoleros" are looking for easy and free gifts for their own families.
>>
>>11655393
I doubt Classified will stay that cheap, and in fact I feel many have crept past that by this point. But I have no problems paying more for an interesting figure, even with limited accessories. I've only ever grabbed one of Vala's figures myself, I've tried to want to get more but something about them all just seems bland. I tell myself I'll just grab some of the cheaper army builders...but then I find Classified figures on sale for the same price and just buy them instead.

Grunt, as generic as he is, is a way better figure then any of Valas stuff.

>>11655627
Well that sucks, I only cared about the Joe as well. The other two are a nice concept, but they really needed new builds to make them interesting. Also, mixed faction army builder packs is a pet peeve of mine and I hate when they do that. At least this one is all Army Builders as usually they'll cram a named character into the set and ruin the value of buying more then one set.

tl:dr - The Joe should've been a stand alone release and the Cobra should've been a two pack.
