i bet it's possible, if you had a flat-sided sander and ... hmm
>>
I saw they were making a new one of these as Leader Class. I got this one since I got the Japanese TM Primal, and I was thinkimg prior to receiving it that this sculpt was fairly good, and wondering how they could even update it.

Well while this toy is fantastic, he sure does have a LOT of backpack and his shoulders have some trouble due to the huge (but cool) shoulder pauldrons. I don't really remember if the animation model had all that on tje back, but it would be really nice if they could somehow make the pieces fold in or over eachother to clean up. Also didn't show megs have the tail for a hand?
>>
>>11898811
the animation model hides his t-rex head inside him, which made me think the chest was meant to be that for a long time.
pretty sure the tail was always a handheld weapon, but in the show it fits better
>>
>>11898813
Hopefully an update can get at least the whole forearm in it. I'm hoping they can hide the robot arms better in alt mode too, but we'll see. I have this fear though that they will make some absolutely baffling decision somewhere. Like not including his ridiculously simple VTOL mode. Or worse, nust completely drop the ball on paint. I also just got Kingdom T-Wrecks, so I KNOW these guhs can do a metallic blue/purple that looks good.
>>
The Powered Convoy colors always look so ugly to me. Blue cab Convoy is great, but the red arms always felt random on the PC mode.
>>
>>11898776
Like New Legends needs saving. It hardly has a figure out yet but it's the most promising Transformers line in years.
>>
>>11898816
yeah but then they fucked up his red.. it's truly a strange situation. my hopes are basically zero.
>>
>>11898816
I'm sure he'll include the VTOLs but I'm expecting some sort of compromise since he'll be a combiner member.

lol it took me a while to understand what do you mean... but i get

>G1 aesthetics
That gorilla looks so out of style... just a "rock monster gorilla from Shleich" ...not a transformer.
But yes the gun is AWESOME and fits all combaticons very well. And you don't even see this gun anywhere in sites or ads...it's always this stupid grey gorilla without any visible silver paint parts.
If it wasn't on sale I wouldn't even buy it and my combaticons wouldn't get this great looking grenade launcher gun
>>
>>11898842
what in the ass, why would he be a combiner
>>
>>11898879
Next year TM1 Megatron, G2 tank Megatron, MW Megatron, and some other Megatron are combining in some way.
>>

>>
>>11898899
There's 3 and they're all at image limit.
Long gone are the days where anons would wait out bump limit to not clutter the catalog. /tfg/ didn't fight hard enough and lost that war, unfortunately.
>>
>>11898831

I’m curious how the manga is going to explain Gigastorm turning back into Megastorm for the inevitable New Legends G2 Megs redeco
>>

>>
>>11898902

>>
>>11898928
How dare you say such a thing. He fought to the last man trying to preserve our rights to post in a thread past image limit.
>>
>>11898702
wait, why is there a "movie jetfire's parts supermode" add-on for a g1-style prime?
>>
>>11898928
The main issue is the image limit in /toy/ is way too low. The bump limit is the exact same as /co/ but their image limit is around 250 to 300 which would help us a lot because it means we wouldn’t have to restart threads so often since we would have double the amount of image space available.
>>
>>11898942
Cuz it looks cool. If Jetfire wasn't from another toyline, he'd do that in G1.
>>
>>11898943
It would be a positive change, for sure.
>>
>>11898943
>The main issue
I think that is a serious issue, but to my mind, the main issue is that /toy/ threads both linger too long and autosage based on time. It needs to be one or the other, and whichever one it is, cranked up HARD.
if /tfg/ threads are gonna autosage after 151 images, then the thread should also drop off the board within 12-18 hours. But if, like, /cg/, the customs general, is going to take weeks and weeks to get anywhere close to that, it should not be autosaged after 2 weeks, only for it to take another 2 weeks to slowly die and fall off the board. that's just retarded.
>>11898944
it does look pretty cool, it's just a bafflingly weird choice, kinda out of nowhere. Has there been any precedent for that?
>>
>>11898910
Because recent Legends material show characters giving angolmois energy away or having it sucked out. In any case, they probably won't do if it's a low effort Brawl retool.
>>
>>11898915
Takara's using very early painted samples. He should be fully red when released since he's not gangmolded with anything else in that set.
>>
>>11898776
I already have the Shattered Ass repaint, but goddamn does that look good. It's really tempting.

Found a Mega-Octane for $10 that curiously enough came with Rollbar's gun and Universe Ruination's chestplate. Dude was fucking filthy though, had to wash his gross ass. Unfortunately some of his screws have a hint of rust starting to show, but I can live with it, I guess. My little RID gang grows in rank by one!
>>
>>11898702
Neat but I'm having a hard time imagining what this Jetfire would have looked like.
>>
>>11898973
Right? that's the other thing. it's not exactly g1-looking, and I don't mean it doesn't look like G1 Jetfire, I get that. it doesn't look like it fits that aesthetic at all. Nor does it look like movieverse. It's like..... UT if UT was good? it has japanese mecha feel, but more competent and less toy-y. A very very strange choice if this isn't based on something specific, like at least a very popular piece of fanart? And like, why this specific version of optimus?
>>
>>11898971
I wish R.I.D got more love, it'd make for such a killer addition to the MP line.
>>
>>11898975
Another thing - actually the first thing I thought of while looking at it - the Jetfire parts look like they would make a relatively small Jetfire. No bigger than Optimus for sure.
>>
File: file.png (1.46 MB, 1280x720)
1.46 MB PNG
>>11898978
now that you mention it, going by the size of the wings.. the entire Blackbird would be like, twice Optimus's height, max. That's quite small, for this being a cab-over Optimus.

Of course it's important to keep in mind that movie Jetfire had the actual mass of a Blackbird, converted into a robot, while every toy of him has had almost twice that much parts-mass, resulting in its visible vehicle kibble being smaller in scale (the fake forehead cockpit doesn't help. or maybe it does. either way I'm sick of movie jetfires being compromised by having to become a supermode even though that isn't what happened in the movie)

>>11899084
I mean, it would really depend on whether you have a drill that can make a narrow hole down the middle of the broken peg, and a nice rod of metal that would fit in that selfsame hole (no, you can't just break off the drill bit. don't be a retard), because then it's fixable as fuck.
I don't think a pin vice is capable of going through that hard nylon action figure plastic, the way it is on plamo.
>>
>>11899006
No, but the go better kit it
>>
>>11899100
>a drill that can make a narrow hole down the middle of the broken peg, and a nice rod of metal that would fit in that selfsame hole
I did exactly this a couple years back using a dremel. I had a G2 Smokescreen that had broken at the hinge carrying the plane canopy, no way to glue it that wouldn't break again the instant you put weight on it. I drilled a couple holes using fine bits, cut a couple pieces off a paperclip, glued them in place and fixed Smokescreen up good. Now he transforms fine again. I had to do the same to MechIdeas Gauntlet (Ironfist) after the mushroom pegs in both knees twisted off, bad plastic I assume. He's in good shape now, it was a fun project bringing him back to life.
>>
>>11899100
Look I could do the repairs, but I'd probably rather pay the like 25ish or whatever to just vet one that hasn't been monster mashed, can ya dig it?
>>
>>11899110
>paper clip
that'd do. the rough part is having something to cut it to length without just bending it til it breaks (that fucks up your rod-itude). Sometimes pliers have a little wire-cutter thing partway down the blades, that 99% of the time only serves to pinch your hand-skin
good job.
>>11899113
that's what i'm sayin. IF you have those materials already? fix it yourself, Tony. if not? It is not worth investing in new tools just for this.
>>
>>11899117
>pliers have a little wire-cutter thing partway down the blades

Breakdown is piece 4 out of 5 for Menasor, he is a remold of Wildrider and very lazy remold at that. Its a shame all the stunticons got unique molds then just remolded Wildrider for Breakdown. The colors on him are nice but his weapons are pretty lackluster. The blaster by its self is okay although his spoiler and blaster can combine into a sword which is an awesome gimmick. They also advertise him holding the spoiler by its self as a blaster which looks just dumb. Overall Breakdown is pretty disappointing and mostly only purchased to complete Menasor. If you're looking for a single stunticon to buy then you're going to get the most out of Motormaster or Wildrider.

A good tactic is to glue the piece together with some cheap superglue, then drill straight down through both pieces as you're holding them/clamping them together. When the holes are drilled simply snap the flimsy superglue and clean off the residue, you now have perfectly aligned pieces.

Pic related was snapped in two, red lines are where I drilled and glued metal posts (paperclip bits). It could be prettier but it's functional.

Calm down, they will. Retailers have already put in orders for any wave we've seen revealed and it's not like Hasbro can force them to pay a bunch more money on short notice because they decided to add a new figure to a wave. Plus it isn't just a simple case of redistributing the existing units, those all have to be recalled and repackaged because Starscream has Target's MTMTE Collection branding. Also, if Hasbro are going to release Starscream at general retail and not just find a new exclusive deal, that's likely going to require production of a lot more units than just what Target ordered.

Again, the Sunbow/Marvel character models for the Stunticons were HORRIBLE. They really actually were just the "box men" that all of G1 is often falsely accused of being. Motormaster should be one of the coolest looking/most imposing Decepticons on paper, and his cartoon self looks like a guy who lost a fight with his refrigerator. Got Skywarp in, which completes the trio. I gotta say, whilst I do like these guys a lot, SS86 is definitely the better action figure but there are things about the ER I do like better; if they had the detailing and colours of the ER ones they'd be even better. Also I feel like the ER one has a slightly more accurate F15 mode (excluding the square folded-feet engine nozzles and the extra rib on the canopy). SS86's engine nacelles are a bit bulbous and the wings feel a bit small.
Very good figures though.
>>
>>11900066
Look by now I think the safest thing is to just ignore the fat retard. We have some loser who saw the funny trolls in other boards and decided to import that here, and isn't even smart enough to conceal himself very well: he only speaks in /v/ tier buzzwords and his faggot curated list of topics that rile people up that he'll recycle every few threads. And when confronted and asked to post pictures of his own toys he falls back on his buzzword list again. If it's someone over 30 that's doing this it's legitimately sad, but i think I've seen him do the exact same on other /toy/ threads. I bet the reason he seemed to disappear for some weeks was that he ate a ban for posting the dead Optimus joke thread.

>going the 3P Legends route.
Probably not a bad idea. Hasbro's mainline is increasingly abysmal and overpriced. I don't know quite how to describe it, but none of their shit feels like "toys" anymore. But they sure as hell aren't nice-looking enough to qualify as collector pieces. Instead, they're just straddling this fence of compromise that results in overpriced, ugly shades of never-ending geewunner vomit where people are terminally rebuying the same toys, and none of it ever feels like an objective upgrade or evolution of what came before (see >>11900108) while posessing neither the appeal of an actual toy, nor the refinement of an adult collectible.

In other words, mainline transformers are slop. And not even cheap slop.

Can't really blame that on Leto for once since Amazon went to great lengths to hide his involvement prior to the movies release, and then afterwards, against all expectation, people were praising his performance as the highlight of the movie. No, the MOTU movie bombed because 1) nobody gives a shit about MOTU anymore and hasn't for over two decades and 2) anyone who might have gone to watch it out of nostalgia wrote the movie off as wokeslop when they put the pronouns joke in the trailer.

MOTU couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a love letter to the original or a lampoon. there's clearly a lot of love and it's by no means a low-effort cashgrab but there's enough eye-rolling marvel humor to somewhat offset the fight scenes and setpieces. it feels like most of the team wanted to go all-in but a contingent of zoomers in the writers room held enough sway to make sure the rest of the team wasn't allowed to keep the script feeling wholly genuine.

The Siege mold? Well, it's also not really a car carrier - that back half doesn't really open up or have a lot of room to store stuff, since it's his robot mode armor. The front is also shaped weird because it's a "Cybertronian" truck, which further blurs the silhouette from a normal Ultra Magnus.

My thundercracker has near LED tier light piping. you must of had gotten unlucky QC with the other seekers. I still don't have starscream though.
>>
>>11900557
The light-piping seems very hit-or-miss across all three, probably just a matter of how little or much red paint is applied to the eyes. My Thundercracker and Skywarp were both dismal, so much so that I just painted the back of the head black and the eyes a brighter red. Starscream's however is quite good by comparison.
Non nearly as good as the KO Thundercracker though, on account of the KO doing the smart thing and actually using clear red plastic instead of clear plastic painted red.

The KO has similar plastic quality and joint tolerance to SS86 but all the little improvements add up to make for a much better toy overall. The light-piping being clear red plastic, the shoulders shifting forward to line up better with the head, the side fillers, landing gear with pinned wheels and blast effect compatible thrusters make a hell of a difference. Not to mention the built in gap fillers in the thighs. The thing that absolutely sold me on the KO over SS86 though was the fact they bothered to paint the inside of the chest to match the front. That was such an eyesore.

It’s not without a few negatives mind you, like the cockpit doesn’t peg in quite so well in bot mode, due to the extra plastic from the side fillers sharing some of that space, the faces are sculpted too thick and need a fair amount of material shaved off the back to fit correctly (or just buy the excellent Weekend Studio faces) and the wing tips took a lot more force to attach than the official. I also wish the new null rays were colour matched to the figure and no grey. They’re so much better than the stock weapons but being the wrong colour kills any chance of me using them. The stock weapons being molded in colour is another welcome improvement over SS86 though.

These aren't my top 5 but I'll explain why for different reasons. I'm not putting premium figures like MPs on the list because must have implies most people should be able to afford them

>RTS Jazz
Self explanatory. It's the best Jazz figure we will probably ever get. He's an almost perfect representation of everything good about Generations 1.0, a blend of all different styles and interpretations while also taking his character into consideration. United probably has the best car mode as well.
>Cybertron Optimus Prime
Proof of how gimmicks can elevate an already good figure. A lot of people here shit on gimmicks and generalize them as pointless and ruin figures by focusing too much of the design on them. Optimus' gimmicks and synergy with other contemporary figures of his line are part of what make him so good
>HFTD Seaspray
A unique, fresh take on a boatformer and seaspray in general. Cool design, fun transformation as well
>Cyberjet (any)
If you want to understand what makes small transformers so appealing get a cyberjet. Simple yet well engineered transformations that even come with gerwalk modes. Lots of playability from such small figures that are over 30 years old too. Goes to show just how much better things were back then. They also represent probably the biggest step forward in design philosophy
>PCC Heavytread
Definitely the rarest and hardest to obtain on this list because he came out around the end of the PCC line but he's such an all around good figure, Incredibly impressive articulation for his size, fun to flip back and forth and a good Tank figure that isn't either a H-tank or just another Megatron is a breath of fresh air. Also his minicon is cool.

Still irks me that they did that. Honestly, the whole "talking through the radio" thing would've made a better gimmick for Wreck-Gar (had he been in the movies) than it did for Bee.
>>
>>11901282
It's weird, sometimes I feel like people treat Bumblebee as if he was this hyper-obnoxious sidekick character like a that wizard guy from He-man or that stupid cat mutant from Thundercats.

But he was just a guy. Like, he was marginally more lighthearted than the rest of the Autobots - if anything, SPIKE was the goofy sidekick.
>>
>>11901288
The only thing I remember Bumblebee doing in the old cartoon was getting captured and brainwashed into leading the autobots to a cave that the 'cons thought would bury them forever. And that time he was on the moonbase with Spike when he said "shit".
>>
>>11901282
I thought it was interesting for one movie, but the insistence on keeping it shows why executives need to be mauled by bears, and normies need to experience all sadness.
>>
>>11901288
could it be because they conflated him with Cheetor? I remember a kid at school insisting bumblebee became cheetor after becoming goldbug, and i'm like who the fuck is bumblebee
>>
Why hasn't Hasbro or Takara used the hood shrinking gimmick like so many 3rd parties have?
>>
>>11901288
>if anything, SPIKE was the goofy sidekick.
wheelie and daniel were even more annoying
>>
>>11901282
They mostly did it as a compromise. Steven Spielberg, who was a producer on the movie, wanted all the Transformers to be silent to make them more alien and Hasbro pushed back on it because they didn’t want to alienate older fans or confuse new ones getting into the franchise so Bumblebee was basically made nonverbal but could speak through his radio as a sort of middle ground
>>
>>11901310
>Steven Spielberg, who was a producer on the movie, wanted all the Transformers to be silent to make them more alien
not that they've got glowing personalities or anything but that would've been absolutely retarded to make a bunch of non-characters audiences couldn't connect with at all
>>
>>11901325
even Jim Henson had to capitulate on The Dark Crystal. Which is too bad, because it ruins the bit where the one Skeksis is speaking in broken English to the Gelflings.. that was supposed to be the only time they spoke intelligibly.. though if the Gelflings were always speaking English, then a lot of the scenes where we're hit over the head with the plot, that were excused as "originally you had no intelligible dialogue here" don't make sense.

but yeah, this story is crap. spielberg was never once mentioned as being connected to that movie, and that would have come up sometime in the last 18 years.

The Big Four Decepticons are Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, and Shockwave. Who are the Big Four for the Autobots? Prime, Bumblebee.... ??? ???

>>
>>11901282
>>11901288

I think the hard thing is that Camaro(or at least sports car), radio voice Bumblebee is the Bee that became the breakout star thanks to the 07 movie. Hasbro keeps trying to synergize G1 Bumblebee with the movie one..and it just doesn't work. Normies think of Bumblebee as some sort of cute robot pet, giving him a normal voice ruins that appeal to people.
>>
>>11901310
>>11901325
If you watch the 07 movie with that in mind, it's really clear how last minute adding the dialog probably was since the Decepticons mainly talk among themselves briefly and most Autobot dialog is between each other as well. The dialog with Sam meeting the Autobots feels like it was added or changed from the original plan and after that he only really talks a bit to Optimus after.
There's a bunch of human subplots precisely because they probably didn't plan on giving the Autobots character moments or dialog.

He’s literally listed in the credits of the first movie as an executive producer and his production company, Dreamworks, helped get the movie made

If you go solely on popularity and not rank, then it’s Prime and the Classic Pretenders, with Ratchet/Ironhide switching with Jazz depending on the adaptation

Prime, Bumblebee, Grimlock and Jazz.

DESU though I think it's more accurate to say that the Autobots only have a Big Three. Jazz isn't close to the same level as the others but at one point Hasbro must have considered him to be more marketable than most other Autobots, enough to get a Classic Pretender toy alongside Bumblebee and Grimlock.
>>
>>11901403
Jazz transforms in a realistic porsche, the G1 toy was very popular at least
>>
>Big Convoy turns out to be alright, regardless of his size or silhouette or width
Turns out he's just a good toy in-hand, I don't know what the fuck happened
Maybe I just idealized the older toy or maybe I'm settling for Hasbro getting worse, but I assume the answer's somewhere in between and that I got a very fun toy
>The weapon now has a stand so Big Convoy can hold it up stably, and also now extends, revealing an extra peg that clips into his shoulder for greater security.
I have no idea what clip this is talking about however
Also his leg missiles are a bit too tight for me to bother un-storing and attaching to his robot legs every time, and his gun is rather plain, but that's about it

Because it adds unnecessary complexity just to make the figure look worse. It's okay for an alien robot to have abnormal proportions or body shapes, actually.

But that's what the character looks like. We're increasingly into fiction accuracy with the toys and the animes tend to be stylized but fairly adherent to how the toys looked, especially after the 80's. If they redesign him too much, it now no longer looks like either the toy or animation.
I don't get people(and it's like one anon here in particular) who keeps pushing for redesigns of BW era stuff to be "better"(suit their personal tastes more) when it has basically no grounds in the approach they've had for years no. I don't get why people were so shocked by these. they're not meant to be animation accurate, but G1-ized versions of the Prime and Animated characters. 2010 Lugnut and RTS Lockdown were really popular and they lack a bunch of their Animated versions traits.
>>
>>11902430
2010 Lugnut and Lockdown were way better toys and they had gotten properly accurate versions already
>>
>>11902262
I don’t hate the Prime Arcee mold, but I really wished they had made an Energon Arcee instead and made Prime Arcee an Animated Prowl retool
>>
>>11902430
>2010 Lugnut and RTS Lockdown were really popular
the difference is that those were obviously different designs instead of
>dude what if we make it 90% accurate and then fuck up the last 10% so we can sell you more accurate versions later lmao!!!
>>
>>11902442
> but I really wished they had made an Energon Arcee instead and made Prime Arcee an Animated Prowl retool
That idea is just as retarded. The Arcee mold was based off the Laser Cycle figure which was already done at that point but they hastily turned it into an Arcee figure to coincide with Prime's 10th anniversary. Making it an Energon Arcee wouldn't have made the figure any less shit and I shouldn't have to explain why retooling animated prowl into prime arcee is just as stupid
>>
>>11902443
I dont know if Arcee counts as 90% accurateto you but Bulkhead definitely shouldnt
>>

dagnab chinese and their tiny or huge toys with nothing in between.

instagram is by far the least bad of its ilk. 90% of what makes it shitty-modern-social-media-garbage is just its layout. its terrible, terrible layout. you can't even title your posts. The 'who's been commenting / replying' thing doesn't work right, it's lousy in a very 'today' way. but the people on it are not kooks, and its algorithm is actually scarily good at figuring out what kinda shit you want to look at, even if I did not ASK it to show me those cool videos about realistic animatronic dinosaurs..
>>
>>11902243
that's just one or possibly two fuckheads. /toy/ has no moderation, so that's gonna happen.
>>11902443
and on top of that, it's one thing to make "what if G1 Bulkhead" since he was an OC, and you can even put Animated Prowl and Prime Arcee in there since they're unique enough that 'what if G1 Versions'
But Animated Prime is obviously just the Animated version of Prime, there's no reason to change him at all to be 'more G1' so.. the concept falls apart rapidly, and they should have put more thought into it, and made it its own separate line. something about alternate universes..
>>
>>11902442
I hate it not because of its look but every mold I get of it seems to have similar loose joints and tabs in too softly to be stable. I have the flame shattered glass paint one and the G2 laser cycle and they have similar problems with the feet.
>>
What does "frameslop" even mean?
>>
>>11902440
Arcee and Bulkhead got properly accurate versions already too.
I honestly don't get why Hasbro makes CHUGs for figures beyond Armada. Anything beyond that already had good articulation. what could a new version possibly add? Are ankle tilts that important.
Hasbro would be better off just reissuing the original figures
>>
>>11902597
Newer combiners that rely on a frame to hold together rather than the standard combiner technique
>>11902601
Mostly scale, a lot of the older lines have characters that aren’t really sized correctly based on the fiction. It’s probably also easier to design a new mold than have to dig through all the archives to find the old one, assuming it even still exists and didn’t degrade or get thrown out over the years
>>
The Headmasters Autobots and Decepticons need proper Combiner teams. Even the Headmasters anime just used the S1-3 combiners + Raiden (the inferior train combiner).
>>
>>11902597
there's no answer to 'what does gen z slang mean'
it's made up by the soviets, ignore it
>>
>combiners
who controlls them? The one that adds the head? Do the others turn off for the time? Can they just disengage or can they be held hostage by the one who controlls the new body?
>>
>>11902656
It depends on the continuity I think. Most of the time they just become a semi-stupid hivemind
>>
>>11902658
it'd be funny to have a version where they come out of the fusion and each feels he was the one in charge, because they're just robots and their brains are kind of interchangeable and they don't realize it's five or six minds working together. not consciously noticing any loss of self.
>>
>>11902656
General rule, if it's english media, the combiner has its own emergent personality, if it's japanese media, the combiner is basically a super mode for the team leader.
>>
Is it true that his effect parts will melt my toys?

Everyone knows Rail Racer is the superior combiner.
>>11902683
Do you plan to leave them attached for an extended period of time?
>>
>>11902658
>>11902678
The in-universe lore tends to be that natural combiners (the combiner teams) have the single personality, while artificial combiners (those created with the Enigma of Combination) are a super mode for the team leader
>>11902683
Only if you keep them attached to the effect ports for a long period of time. As long as you routinely separate them, you’ll be fine
>>
>>11902689
>>11902691
Would a week be ok? For how long would I need to seperate it afterwards and does it add up over time?
>>
>>11902697
I don’t know the exact amount of time, but you don’t have to worry about necessarily keeping them apart for a specific period of time or it building up more overtime. The main issue is that the softer plastic of the blast effects tends to adhere to the paint on the ports on the figure itself or its weapons and will peel that paint off when you go to take it off if you leave it on for too long
>>
>>11902440
>they had gotten properly accurate versions already
Really the only one that hadn't had an accurate version was Knockout. FE Arcee and Bulkhead are amazing and Prime mainline/PRiD Arcee has a better scale to her.
>>11902550
Animated Optimus is technically a futuristic truck with the slanted windows.
>>
>>11902709
Not tryin to get on your case but I don't understand what part of what I said that you're replying to. Did I accidentally imply something? Like about his altmode?
>>
>>11902278
Joke's on you, Wreck-Gar only rides Wreck-Gar in the movie, not another Junkion.

Basically, the implication that Animated Optimus is just a stylized G1 Optimus. Stuff like the slanted windows, while on a meta sense is due to the stylization, is also part of his vehicle mode. And of course he has the whole fire truck backhalf when they choose to acknowledge it. So it's not just an animated style G1 Optimus but a different design. Even if it's still very much inspired by it.

Optimus Awakened short
>>
>>11902797
sorry no, my point was that, unlike Bulkhead, and to a lesser extent Prime Arcee / Animated Prowl, he's NOT meant to be a completely new idea. He's just Optimus Prime, but in a new show. Same as Animated Ratchet is just Ratchet, in a new show.

so IF they're saying "what if we take a non-G1 show character, and G1-ize them", that on its own is KIND OF valid, but only for characters with completely original designs to begin with.

Just got back from the cinema and I liked the actual animation, I would be fine with a show/movie using it, the plot was kinda eh but I did like the nod to all the different versions of prime over the years and Optimus final words as he walks into the light got me choked up but depending on if they do anything more with it the end bit with megatron felt unnecessary.
