So... finally managed to finish off Gaiden. Honestly, not sure how to feel about it now that it's all done. At first I would absolutely put it above Fire Emblem 1, but the longer the game goes on the less sure I am of it's quality. The game is just really grindy, with everybody having such uniformly poor growths that promotion seems like the most viable way to actually get your characters to be halfway decent. I gave up on doing a ironman for a reason, and in hindsight I don'' exactly regret it. Even if i do want to someday try to ironman the game again just because I think it should be doable now that I know more about how the game functions.I think, if I have to pick, I would put it below Fire Emblem 1. Mostly just for the final two acts having a few design decisions so utterly baffling it kind of drags down the entire game. I still don't know what they were smoking with lost woods, the infinite dragon peak, or making you unable to change half your army for the final battle. It's a shame since there is still a lot I do like about the game, even compared to Fire Emblem 1. With that, though, at least for now, I'm done with the Nes games. Off to greener pastures on the Snes,Yes, I know the image is awful but I was playing on my Nes Mini.
