Then he saw another line for the "Friday Denomination" that had some tan bearded dude in red robes with a red turban as the only line member I recall and others going to what I think were other afterlives and spent time wandering around the island looking for what he thought was were he was supposed to go. After that point was where it became a pixelated bideo gaem like a MS-DOS adventure and he was on some ride circling around a large island at night, with many strange and zany parts and sections for different fictional and spiritual figures and stories and shit (like if the Yoshi's Island title screen was used for Shin Megami Tensei) looking around many odd mini-locales before piped up and he said he saw his mom (who, for some reason, was Marge Simpson instead of the redhead who we see in game)- on a pitch-black patch of land with a gravestone next to it.He went to hug her and say hello, and she either vanished shortly after or wasn't there for the scene when he arrived (at which point things went from cute pixels to first person live action).

But he sees in the well-polished grave's reflection the faces of other young teens beside him (despite being alone), and seems happy to know he does in fact have company. Last thing I recall is him seeing another guy fiddling with options menu buttons on the right-hand side of the gravestone including ones for "enter" and "leave". I/Sunny accidentally annoyed him trying to use one while he was and we(they?) both chuckled a little before Sunny/I relented and let him try to finish whatever adventure he was having while I think a toddler stumbled into the area and laid down between us. I remember there being some deep Halloween decoration-ass voice from a Crypt Keeper looking icon on the gravestone menu thing saying "you have to leave first, before you can enter the Isle of Iz!" I woke up shortly after that. I wonder if a "Halloween Island" wouldn't be too out of place in Headspace...

@woodchipp has all the receipts, but I remember Omocat saying that basically she reworked the entire game by 2020, after 5 years of I don't even know what. The game's story, at the very least, reeks of troubled production: the campaign is bloated thin, with a lot of wasting time in a "quirky" world (and with that damned photo album) but actually very little happening. The game will literally stop you in your tracks to have meaningless scenes like Aubrey and Kel arguing about soda, just to pad out time. Not to mention the myriad of logic holes in the "twist" that come from having an idea that sounded cool but not thinking about all the implications.But not all can be excused with troubled production: the characterization is awful even if you put aside the extremely short time span that makes Aubrey's "character development" come across as hollow. The game tells you that these kids are the bestest of friends, but then there are multiple instances that show the opposite, such as Aubrey and Kel not bothering to rescue Basil from drowning, or the gang having a picnic near Mari's grave while Basil is watching his grandma die in the hospital. (yeah Basil goes through a lot)And ultimately, this is another instance where I say that at the end of the day, the final product is what matters. People funded this game, and paid for it when it released.And just like other products I personally love to bitch about :) the reason Wood is so adamant in breaking OMORI into tiny little piece is that for some reason it got a stellar reception and for the life of us we cannot understand the appeal. When Wood put us through this experience, I saw a half-baked product that half-heartedly attempted to tug at my heartstrings, but in the way that a sad poem written by a teen would. And then you start to take the game as seriously as it wants to, and it just completely falls into pieces.

I just finished playing OMORI, I got the good ending using minimal guides besides finding the key pieces.This game is truly amazing, a 10/10 in my eyes. I went into it thinking it was another "depressing" JRPG where its "deep" but no, I got some of the most likable characters I've ever seen in a game, I've never had a game make me worry about a virtual character before like I have with basil, the bosses were great, the sound track was great, the characters were amazing top tier stuff. I went into this game completely spoiler free. Had never watched a single video or anything about it besides seeing a occasional omori gif lol.I feel like my opinion may be a bit skewed, as the game is a bit painfully relatable when it comes to traumatic experiences and how it affects you. I never did something as bad as the level of sunny, but I have had a lot of terrible traumatic things happen to me and it makes the ending boss with OMORI feel so heartbreaking especially with the music, the feeling of bothering people, the feeling of weighing everyone around you down, that you should die, is something that resonates and relates to me deeply back then and even now years after bad things have happened. As cringe as it sounds, the ending made me cry a lot, and it made me think a lot about how one really does overcome traumatic experiences. I'm still not over my trauma, but this game has given me a comfort knowing that one day, no matter how bad it is, I will someday come out the other side a happier person, Even if the road is littered with glass and hot rocks. This game is really nice, and has made me feel somewhat better about my predicament, even if its just for a short moment.
