I'll be honest, I have no idea how to be better at combat. My strategy 9 times out of ten boils down to make a line of infantry, tell them to hold and advance, then use my mages to cast buffs before just telling them to spam spells. If I'm feeling a little extra, maybe put some cavalry in the corners and tell them to attack the rear.It works against AI, but thats more or less it.

SCs will typically have some vulnerability that can be exploited to do damage if you know their kit. Phoenix pyre SCs require some type of fatigue damage, the ability to kill them quickly (every 2-3 turns), soulslay/enslave mind/charm spam, or those blood spells that drop them into another plane. There really needs to be more higher end elemental spells that do a small bit (5-10 points) of AN fatigue damage imho ...There are a few other neat things you can do, but I'll shutup before I have them used against me. Granted R'Lyeh is going to win that game shortly so it'll all be moot. I give them 5 turns.

EA/MA TC have shit sacreds and access to the best awake titan expanders in the game (the hindu ones) so going for a very minimal incarnate bless gives you a very strong start at minimal cost.Your main infantry should be the glaive guys unless you're running into archerspam. MA, a strong strategy is to rely on just your crossbowmen. They have good armor and are a lot better in melee than normal archers, so you can get away with a very minimal frontline or no frontline. Then go alt and paint a shit ton of buffs on them. You get almost every path and ranged units will sit in place, so you can do low aoe buffs five times in a row very reasonably.Mid-game transition to spamming gifts from heaven with your imperial geomancers. They're one of the best mages in the game efficiency-wise, but are only really strong in communions. Late game you have access to low levels in every path and cheap communion slaves. Use crystal matrices to boost your shitters into casting high level combat magic in every path.
