I think snakes are actually a good point of reference for Shadow. Snakes are not evil, but they are aggressive. They don't know or care about the impression their expression gives. They are actually capable of a wide range of expressions, more than us, since their jaws are not locked to a specific shape, but they have no reason to ever try and look warm or friendly. The impression they give other creatures is "danger" and rightfully so.

It's like, at any moment, he could flip the switch, and you'd realize he's not as innocent as he seems. It's like he can be sweet and charming when he wants to be, but there's always the potential for that hidden side of him to come out, and it makes you question whether you can really trust him. It feels like Silver represents a kind of power struggle. He's not just trying to save the world, he's trying to control it. He's shaping people's lives and relationships to fit into his vision of how things should be, even if it means using his powers or time travel to do it. Even if it means wiping out entire timelines, dooming billions to non-existence, Silver will do it to reach his desired outcome. In his relationship with Blaze, it's clear that she becomes somewhat of a pawn in his grand scheme. This imbalance of power, control, and emotional manipulation creates the vibe of a rapist, when you consider how far he's willing to go to get things his way.
