In Melina dialogue where she relays Marika's words she directly states that she intends for the Tarnished warriors to grow strong in the face of conflict unto death, until the time where she will return "grace" and resurrect them.2. As we know From wants to give narrative reasons for player resets, in Dark Souls that was being undead and here it is the resurrective power of grace. This means that the source of the Tarnished's immortality throughout the game is Marika herself. How can a dead person not only guide the actions of someone, but resurrect them when they die?3. While no one can technically die due to the removal of the Rune of Death, they still suffer degradation until they're shambling zombies and eventually skeletons. Marika's grace granted to the Tarnished is true resurrection, where they suffer no loss in vitality or sapience in the event of their death.4. The Elden Beast clearly intends to kill the Tarnished, yet why are they still able to resurrect and keep fighting them if grace supposedly comes from the Elden Beast who possesses the Elden Ring? This cements Marika as the provider of grace.

Consider that Radagon and the Elden Beast did their all to prevent the Tarnished from making contact with Marika's form for this reason, as she wouldn't resist having their vision be implanted into them and have the Tarnished supercede the previous Order which Radagon/Elden Beast desperately wanted to maintain. Her return to bodily life would also mean she would have the ability to birth demi-gods, which would secure the new Order. Interestingly what looks to be in coloration a Rune of Death shard seems very intentionally to be pierced through her womb, yet falls and breaks away during Radagon's boss fight. This further drives home the implication that Radagon/Elden Beast are attempting to keep Marika in stasis so she can't help the Tarnished she intended to aid centuries ago physically or have gods with them. Yet the moment the Tarnished enters the Erdtree this plan is null, as they can dislodge it and commune with Marika, so Radagon/Elden Beast have to fight them.
