Every franchise that uses elves portrays them as incel, or as slaves. Santas elves are all male and do unpaid labor. Elves in ferelden are slaves and get raped by humans. LOTR elves are goddess worshipping incels who spend hundreds of years doing it without cumming, while the female elves have sex with humans like aragorn.

Im somewhat satisfied with my early game route. We get a level 4 morrigan and shale, and a level 5 oghren. It’s pretty hard though, if you make a mistake with healing items, your file is totally ruined. If you accidentally last hit one of the hundred enemies you have to kill, you have to reload. But by doing this, we get an extra 2 strength on oghren. Oghrens so fucking strong, he has the highest DPS in ferelden. So now im somewhat at a loss on what to do after this. Obviously we go back to lothering to rescue bodahn and do the chantry quests. Next we will probably do brecillian forest, as the level of paralysis runes we acquire are fixed from the chests here, and the level doesn’t matter much anyways, and we will also gain access to the supply cache. But for mage tower, we’re probably going to want to do that at the very end. Which means we can’t do the urn of sacred ashes or anything to do with redcliffe castle. Although we can do the attack at at nightfall for Loyd’s ring. I guess during this phase of the game, we’re merely trying to maximize xp gains and gold. Because we have a lot of buyables, it’ll be at least 400g for everything. And we want to unlock that asap, because it looks really funny to have all your party at haste cap doing tons of damage early on, without cheating. What do you think? Where should I go after assembling my party, and why?
>>
>>521125797

without deflection or accuarcy (which equals out pretty often) you have 50% to hit 25% to do 50% dmg, 25% to no dmg (0% to crit). you max might instead and you'll get some stupid shit like +18% dmg (that you dont get if you miss). extra accuarcy over deflection is immediately translated into crit % 1 for 1
>>
>>521129403
Now that we have a DPS war, the question of “who benefits the most from warden commanders armor?” has arisen. So our rogue will have 100% crit rate through backstabs. Which means he benefits every hit, oghren will only have 100% crit on elites because of death hex. We won’t need to cast that on normal mobs. But to use it on the rogue, we will need to use the helm of honnleath on him too, to reach the strength requirement. Another thing is that we cannot use the legion of the dead armor set, which will give oghren +3 damage. Although I don’t know what’s higher dps, +3 damage or 15% crit damage. It’s probably better to actually use it on the rogue, because there’s only 2 good dps armours for physical melee dps. The felons coat won’t be unlocked until we’ve completed 3 main quests, and it’s not that good anyways.

>>
>>521131503
It’s actually probably better to use quicksilver arming cap on the rogue, and to put the helm of honnleath on our dps war, because there’s no other helm for a dps war lol. We won’t be able to naturally reach the strength requirement for our rogue however. So it becomes a question of “how much crit damage is worth 1 point in cunning?”. It’s probably at least 10%. Which means we just don’t even get to use the warden armor. So our next best chest armor will be the shadow of the empire. If we cheated a bit, we could just equipment swap as you don’t unequip items when you lack the requirements. But I don’t think I’ll do that. So, it’s only 1 point in strength. Whats better, +1 cunning or +15% crit damage? They seem to be very comparable. It’s like no different. Which means shadow of the empire is still better. This all changes if we use some of the free DLC items that start in our bags. But it feels a bit like cheating. I also don’t like deleting them, so I miss out on tons of bag space lol. But that’s always an option, it’s fair to set some type of intrinsic requirement to use the free dlc items. My plans basically, once I unlock all the important buyable items like roses thorn and veshialle, it’s fair game to equip a +1 all stats amulet. Because by that point, it’ll just be a minor increase to our parties damage and survivability. In the early game however, free dlc items totally invalidates many of the battles.

Its not make or break but it definitely adds up.
Its your damage, chance to hit and crit, chance to debuff and how long those debuffs last, it affects everything.
The higher you can get it the better, even if its just a couple points at character creation.
Yeah you can buff accuracy but those take time to cast or take up a gear slot. If you set your per to 19 thats an extra 9 accuracy on everything you do without any prep.
And those defense debuffs? You need good accuracy if you want those to stick.
>>
>>521135167
I still question it.

>>521134058
Alistair with dlc items on pre lothering is stronger than an entire party, just because of the way unit collision works. He can pull the entire map, and will barely get hit because of his high dodge rating. Melee dps will stack unnaturally meaning only a few guys can even hit him. This helped me a lot while testing different strategies, some of the pulls require a merry go round gameplay where we shuffle and suicide units in the correct places while avoiding detection. Can still be done without the dlc stuff but you need to bring a huge stack of healing potions. So for stealing basically, I’ve got a plan now. It’s a simple priority of 50s > elfroot/runes. Which we keep for the xp gains with the supply crate. Everything over 50s gets sold. And we don’t have to reload anymore, because elfroots such as common steal. This systems much better. The alternative is stealing things which may or may not really even be a benefit. With semi rare crafting materials like frozen lightning, it can be hard to not steal that over an elfroot. But there’s not really enough to keep a permanent lightning enchanted warrior. Fleshrot is still pretty good, and can be found in infinite quantity. Another debate is for spirit shards. Theyre so cool, but we really just can’t get enough of them. I think maybe there’s like 5 spirit shards before lothering that you can steal. When we break it down like this, a spirit shard has more value than a journeyman rune. But less value than a master rune. And more value than 50s and any other crafting material. Which means we do collect the spirit shards, but not anally. Only linguistically.

It’s theorized you can indeed both complete the joining, AND get a level 5 dwarf. But, this will be the hardest challenge ferelden has ever faced. However. This will not result in a level 4 shale. So there’s 2 challenge modes here. Joining + lvl5 oghren. And, lvl5 oghren + level 4 shale. And lvl 4 shale may not even be possible, as my brain is too fried to do simple addition currently. But it most likely is possible. And honnleath is a new nightmare, you have a patrolling elite darkspawn event to trigger which I cannot repeat. This is why you screen record folks. Although the thing is, if you’re trying to make a party capable of defeating the archdemon. Playing as a human is your best chance, which means you’ll never be able to do the joining. It’s a novelty run to do the joining. Not unless you can beat my ishal 1F strategy, which im pretty sure is as good as it’s ever going to get. If for some reason you figure out how to bypass every enemy on this floor. We may be witnessing the most powerful warrior south of Orlais.

So it’s possible, although highly unlikely. That there may be a hidden rez mechanic im not aware of, specifically rezzing between a wall, or from far away. I have not been able to trigger this type of rez on such a small map. I’ve done it in the deep roads. But if we can sneak a rogue into the stair room, and 2 other companions. Die on them except the rogue. AND, we need to pull 4 genlocks to the start of the map, and die. Then we need to rez them all, before the patrol manages to reach the stair room. This can be done. We have 2 rogues. It’ll happen with multiple rez events, and a map change teleport. But is it enough? Will 80xp be enough? Will it?

Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny are both real time and they are great.
I played both with direct control of all party members and paused often. It was fun.
>>
>>521148373
Imagine if you didn't need to pause often and instead it was a built in aspect of the gameplay that allowed for deeper, more tactical and engaging encounters
>>

>TB means deeper, more tactical and engaging encounters
>it just does ok!!
I've found a lot more tactics and having to switch up my strategies mid-battle due to something happening and overall satisfying sense of 'being a general' in Pillars1&2 than for instance PF games or BG3.
And Pillars1 poor encounter design (different than the combat itself) has nothing to do with RTwP vs TB, it was just a bad design decision, and that's easily seen by its improvement in Deadfire.

We’re somewhat forced into doing the mage tower. Without it, we cannot access any of our 8th tier talents. Furthermore, our equipment options are very limited. I’d honestly choose to leave the player character at camp for the majority of the game, as he’s the weakest party member until we complete some milestones. Then he becomes the second highest DPS in ferelden. Theres actually a lot of controversy around making your player character a rogue. It might be better to not steal from the high ranked elite enemies. 4 points in stealing will not be enough, you need a high cunning rating too. So these guys don’t really have anything too important to steal, but you’ll be really behind on gold if you don’t do that. And gold is a very efficient stat. But a 2 dps war party composition would outperform, especially if we can get enough gold before lothering to buy a second veshialle. Thats most likely possible, although will be extremely time consuming. I’ve never seen anyone manage to do that before.
>>
>>521162786
My guy. Just play a mage knight and stomp everything with double haste.
>>
>>521163128
We already have Morrigan as an AW slave. Haste cap is better reached through momentum, because you get to use precise striking. And a rogue will need a swift salve with momentum, so we have to cleanse haste off the rogue first.
>>
>>521160601
She's also ugly and poorly written
>>
>>521163128
Dps war is way stronger than an AW because of dual striking and it gets a fuckton of bonus weapon damage through talents, and double dips into the AW talent tree as everything AW gets is actually party wide except for the defensive talents, but we don’t need them, because we have taunt and forcefield. Yeah we just skip shit talents like rock armor. Only need 2 enchants, haste and miasma. After this she’s used for death hex, forcefield and cleanse. Mana clash is also pretty good, but we mainly get it because it’s right next to spell might, which is another way to buff oghren as her enchants scale off of spell power. AW is only really taken to give us access to massive armor, as it’s a free willpower boost in slots that can’t gain spellpower. And, staff attacks aren’t that good without sacrificing party damage. So we can throw a sword and dagger on Morrigan and have her do pretty okay DPS.

I’m pretty sure the best shale build is 38 con, 20 strength, and put everything else into dex. Use lightning crystal set. This will easily provide a full minute in stone aura, probably 1min 30s. The other option is to take more points into willpower. Or to use the mana regen large crystal. We skip out on the strength requirement for more powerful small crystals, as these won’t improve shales stone aura duration. And the defensive bonus will be less than just putting our points into dex.

I never really liked the concept of a sloth demon. As if fatigue is some hurdle to overcome, like the pain just goes away if you try hard enough. Feels like im being gaslit. >>
>>521169530
Joke word, if you’re experiencing depressed based fatigue, it’s more accurately defined as a type of slavery. You’re being made to do something against your will, and your mind is saying no thanks. Although in this case, it’s not an actual person who has enslaved you. It is the world. Which we can factor into this equation as a variable. Because the world does gain when it enslaves you, there’s profit being made, just not by a person.
>>521168083
The sloth demon is depicted as a tired sleeping bear. The irony is he’s in the face, and there’s nothing to even do there anyways. The only slothlike thing about him was his voice actor. Like he even plays a game with you, guy wasn’t lazy at all. You just can’t create a lazy character because sloth isn’t even real.

Like I’ll be looking at all the npcs and talking to them, then I run past my own player character and shout “that’s me im that guy”. I got a sweet new armor set. The gold increase from stealing with a higher character level is actually pretty noticeable because of the scaling. So this means after we get the level 5 dwarf, our next objective is to gather codex entries, and to complete side quests which do not involve combat. It stings a little bit to do this before we get wynne, because zhevran is also gotten right after that. This will give us a way higher level wynne and zhevran. I most likely will never find a use for these companions, aside from making potions. But im pretty sure the game auto allocated their skills to poison making and herbalism until rank 3 anyways. So it shouldn’t be a big loss. There’s at least 50 enemies to steal from in the mage tower, and this will probably give us like an extra 5 or 10 gold. Chest and enemy loot will also scale every 3 levels. Which means it’s probably not worth exploring new places, but it will be worth doing the places I’ve already been to, and potentially other places, as long as they don’t have many containers. Some combat encounters will be okay to do, as many of the enemies don’t have anything to steal, like in the proving grounds. I should be able to do most of orzammar. Another thing is godwin has a massive cunning check, but that can be done later in the game. I have a cunning score of 90, and it’s still not enough. Mage tower will definitely be the first main quest we complete on our serious playthrough. I really wanted to do brecillian, but without the fade stat bonus, a rogue can’t function that well. We will do the forest after mage tower, so we can turn in a large number of elfroot and deep mushrooms that we stole from everything before lothering. It’ll get us at least a full level of xp. I think it’s better to hold off on stealing from npcs in Orzammar until way later. Stealing more elfroot is good xp, but if we wait awhile, the level scaling will have the same benefit as what I was discussing earlier.

The highest value item that comes from a chest is arrows. At least until level 12 im assuming. And arrows don’t scale. So this will provide some type of boundary in regards to where we visit. Adding the xp gained from mage tower plus what we get from codex entries and non combat xp. Means we can visit other new areas before mage tower, as long as we won’t be getting level 15. But this won’t be true for higher ranked containers that contain massive body armor. Because the sale price will scale at a very high rate and will totally outclass the arrow spawns.

Well Kibellah showed up as part of a space event.

There are companions you can only get extremely late into the game and they have lines programmed in if you have them in the party when Kibellah arrives. If you start a new game, however, Kibellah shows up at the start of chapter 1.

If the DLC is implemented like that, then in theory you can take any old save game and boot it up with the DLC.

That having been said, there's no concrete info on anything yet and this is all speculation on my part.

No. A staff is a ceremonial symbol of station and a ritual implement. It is not a weapon. It not meant to thump things with. It is not a quarterstaff. At all. Fucking ... NO.

The actual explanation is that there's no mechanical reason to use a quarterstaff weapon if you're playing a monk in the Owlcat games. Your fists are better and free. In a tabletop environment, there's a whole lot more to consider. And also, for the record, in a tabletop environment, magical staffs are not the same thing as quarterstaff weapons, though it's still not very clear about that distinction. Most GMs would let you wrench off a chair leg and treat it as a club, because it's a distinctly inferior weapon and if you're that desperate then you can be rewarded for your ingenuity. Monk unarmed strike is still always superior to a basic bitch club, though. The reason to use manufactured weapons is for special properties like reach, trip or some kind of weird enchantment (because amulets of mighty fists are very expensive to enchant for that).
>>
>>521202457
>so you end up with 19 instead of 20
there's the str tome you can find in bg1 technically, but either way, there's a MASSIVE gap between basic bitch 18 and 20 or even 19. makes me feel like I'm actually ascending into a demigod proper.

You're thinking of a sceptre (or possibly a wand). A staff is of suitable length and durability to use as a weapon if necessary, whether or not it's primarily intended as such.

BG1/2 have had active modding communities for twenty years. I've been playing BG2EE with a big fat collection of mods that I've edited myself with Near Infinity for so long that I actually do not remember the names of the original mods. I've made thousands of edits to the override files, so there's no way that your game would be the same as mine.

But to answer your question, I believe the original mod was called Scales Of Balance. It has a component which applies effects to every creature in the game that will give a bonus or penalty to various things based on the value of their ability scores. I love it because it finally gave me a reason to give a fuck about anything other than strength (which was a HUGE problem with 2nd edition's design in general).

https://www.gibberlings3.net/forums/topic/26838-unearthed-arcana-presents-scales-of-balance-a-post-hac-tweak-pack/

But apparently it's been deprecated somewhere along the way. There'd be no way for me to remove / update anything because my game's install is unique now. I dunno if I wanna go through the trouble of constructing a completely fresh install.
>>
>>521203317
No. I said staff because I meant staff. Scepters are also ritual implements and symbols of station. Staffs have been, as well, since literally before humans could write language. How do we know? Because there are drawings and paintings depicting them as such. Famously, in Egypt.

What's the difference between a staff, a scepter, a wand and a rod?

Indeed... Length? And that's about it. You wouldn't dream of using a king's scepter as a club. Imagine the pope using the papal ferula as a quarterstaff...

And that's all before we get into the history of modern neo-paganism which is what actually inspired your concept of "mage's staff". I'll summarize: to use a magical implement for vulgar melee combat would be to irrevocably profane the implement such that it would never be useful for magic ever again.

There has never been a magical tradition real or invented in which banal, mundane objects like weapons were compatible with the working of magic. In a very real and literal sense, the more mundane a thing is, the less magical it is. I cannot emphasize that foundational principle enough.

I wish there was stuff to do in Kenabres at various points, I really hate it being a big city that's some maps in Act1 and then not even accessible at all ever again except for jumping right to Neathholm once.
I think I'm in the minority there though, I think most players want to have a map with the buttons where there's points of interest. It's so soulless to me though.
And the alternative doesn't have to be endless replicas of buildings and houses. A lot of BG1 especially was like that but it was also 25 years ago, and also there were a lot of unique things if you poked around. But "oh no, sorry impossible, we fired our writers and most of budget is tied up in cloak physics"
>>
>>521206612
I recommend you get familiar with the Gibberlings3 site / community. There's ... a LOT of mods that've been made for the games over the years. Quite a few which address the profound failures of ancient 2nd edition D&D's fundamental mechanical design. Spell Revisions is mandatory. Of the other "overhaul" style mods, many of them are sort of limited by the engine's capabilities, and of course as Beamdog gave the games a facelift and externalized many things, it allowed modders to do a LOT more than they used to be able to (Near Infinity has also gotten a lot more capable as a toolkit. This means that older mods might have some really cool ideas but might not have great implementation because of how limited their tools and access were twenty years ago. But a lot of those same people are literally still around and tinkering and putting out mods for the games today.

Of the companions, I think Haldamir is very good for being a compact, simple little "I need an extra guy" type of thing. He's got a very direct and simple implementation and personal development. Ajantis and Kivan for BG2 (I think they were made by Jastey?) will bring you some extremely - extremely! - interactive and chatty companions, and they're very powerful (Kivan in particular is strong in combination with her updated archery mod). I like Faren. He's useful as a pure thief, and you can tweak him into a Shadowdancer with EEKeeper or modding his .cre with NI if you want. He's very easy-going no-drama almost to a fault, but that makes him charming by comparison to, say, Ajantis or Anomen.

I like what I did to Monks. I edited all the priest scrolls so that Monks could use them. It really helps pad out their utility, especially with the expanded scrolls I've added by mods to invoke various priest spells. And the expanded inventory in shops, so temples sell lots of priest scrolls for you to use. It helps relieve a lot of the pressure on your cleric's spell slots.
>>
>>521208558
Oh also robes. I edited some of the robes to give benefits that rog/mages, fig/mages and monks want and that seems to have worked very well. Rasaad finally became worth his spot on the roster, though still underperforming by comparison to Kivan.

I do complain about Jastey's writing, though. When she made the originals, she was definitely a fanfic hambeast and it shows. Lots of very florid purple prose in the pink-covered romance novel genre. But at least mechanically her mods are relatively robust. There were a few weird quirks that I don't think she figured out a way to get rid of - like the dangerous map in Ajantis' mod where you can accidentally leave the illusory Windspear Hills and not be able to get back in. Or Kivan showing up missing a few hit points so his AI thinks you attacked him and he goes hostile. Some of those she's fixed (you can directly edit his .cre with NI to fix the hit points for example).

And Haldamir's dialogues had a weird loop accidentally left in, but if you run into it, you can find that dialogue with a search using NI to scan for the string, and then just set the pointer to the correct node so the dialogue will continue.

Some of the very old mods like Weimar's Solaufein have been adopted by other modders since I don't think he maintained that one. I don't know if they've fixed the language / character set issue in that one which was causing crashes (German keyboards are different apparently).

I recommend against using the Haer'Dalis romance mod. He's insufferable. Someone was taking a philosophy 101 course while writing that one and it's excruciating.
>>
>>521208558
Thanks, I saved the suggestions. Reply again if any others come to mind, I appreciate it. I also believe we're basically on the same page as to what we'd like or dislike from mods, so it's helpful to get a bit of tailored suggestion.
On that, should I do SCS and Ascension? I didn't do Ascension for BG1, I don't recall why, and the way I handle difficulty is staying on Hardcore unless some encounter feels tedious after a few failed tries, so I'm not into ie Legacy of Bhaal or "that" kind of "challenge". If Ascension adds more interesting behaviors to AI I would pick it up but if it's not an interesting kind of challenge I'll skip it again.

I think they just wanted the player to pay attention to their own fort and the war effort. You do spend all of Act 1 in Kenabres, so why aren't you sick of it yet? But more seriously, the city would have to be under construction basically all throughout the game. So if there were "city streets" and interiors maps accessible after Act 1, they'd have to change and update as the game goes along to reflect that the city is being reconstructed. That would be an insane expense in terms of game development budget and there's literally no plot-relevant point to doing so.

The knight commander has their area of interest running the crusade and constructing Drezen and leading forays deeper into the Wound. I hate to tell you this, but I think the problem is you. You need to stop looking back Kenabres and pay attention to the actual story instead.

SCS / Ascension are polarizing in a certain way. The community agrees, I think, that if you want "difficulty", they're mandatory. If you don't want to spend hours trying to understand what just happened when the blue dragon wipes your entire party in less than six seconds of combat, you probably should skip it. He's right that it's all "legal" in the sense that, mechanically, the NPCs are all playing by the rules (other than a little bit of fudging to in some cases where enemies arrive "pre-buffed" for combat by having buffs get insta-cast triggered when they spawn on top of you), but the reality is that ... oh my god, munchkinry is not fun at the table and it's not fun in a RTWP crpg. I've done it all the way through a few times, and now I ain't got nothing to prove so I don't use those mods anymore.

They do add "interesting behaviors" in the sense that enemies use a wider variety of spells and are more intelligent about how they use them. And the author was even skilled enough to take into account that some mods will remove the "cheese". But if you're still using a game that allows Improved Invisibility + immunity to divination and stuff like that, it's infuriating. There's a lot of things about 2nd edition D&D which just should never have been.

One of my favorite mods makes heavy armor give less AC and instead give physical damage resistance - so that lighter armors give you a lot of avoidance but heavy armor give you a lot of mitigation. After I revamped / smoothed the scaling a little bit to suit my personal install, it works very well to accomplish the feeling I was going for, even into ToB.

Well, they're certainly not My Immortal levels of bad. They're just a bit of RenFaire as I don't think she really had a good grasp of the game's overall writing style. Ajantis says "my lady..." a lot. Kivan mopes and broods melodramatically a lot, but in his defense, he seems to actually miss his dead wife, which is more than could be said for fucking Jaheira.

If you get Kivan's most recent version, I don't think there are any bugs. Ajantis' Windspear Hills map isn't bugged it's just that you need to remember to not accidentally leave the map by clicking on the edge of it to see the world map until you get the miniquest resolved and you have Ajantis with you.

Haldamir's dialogue loop might have been fixed by now, but AFAIK it was only one single response option you could select during a conversation in Spellhold. Trivial fix, but it was wild when I found it.

I haven't found any bugs with Faren.

Kineticist targets Touch AC. Against bosses, they're infinitely better than any archer could ever be if you are playing on any difficulty higher than Easy. Especially because Owlcat forgot that buffs using the creature's HD for their caster level means it's impossible to dispel enemy buffs.

The thing to know about Kineticist is that your basic bitch abilities don't cost "burn". You can spend Actions to reduce Burn cost, basically spending that time "powering up" like Goku.

Say you are willing to spend your Move Action to gather power so that you can blast with your Standard Action. You toggle that one on, and then your Standard Action blast will cost one Burn less. This means you can apply some kind of modifier to your blast which will do various special things. Like make it affect a cone or cause entanglement or whatever.

Alternatively, you could just pimp out your blast and accept the burn cost without spending extra actions. But you obviously can't do that forever, because Burn will kill you if it stacks too high.

So Kineticist trades action economy to reduce burn they might suffer. They can stack modifiers on their blasts to pimp them out but these extra tricks cost burn. You can heal an unlimited amount of HP because it doesn't cost you spell slots or anything. Just spend extra actions "gathering power" to reduce the burn to zero.

It's definitely hardcore magewank. The author was a munchkin who only played mages. To be fair, the engine has a limited flexibility to apply much complexity otherwise. Things like procs were a concept in game design at the time, but the Infinity Engine just couldn't really do that elegantly for warriors without applying such things as effects to weaponry. Do they not have the license anymore because Paizo got fucked / threatened over the OGL for PF1e?

I think Paizo is reluctant to do anything with PF1e anymore because 1: it's an "old" product now, and 2: they want to push their "new" product, PF2e which is garbage but is similar enough to D&D 5e that Zoomers might accidentally pick it up, and 3: PF1e has fallen out of favor with gamers because it has a reputation for being exploitable / breakable by bad faith actors.

I will not tolerate criticism of Jan Jansen. He is adorably zany, not annoying or stupid. And furthermore, he is by far the most useful non-combatant character in the games.
>>
>>521215687
The Emperor was a fucking retard who didn't understand humanity despite trying to lead them to a golden age. He did tell everyone not to worship him or anything else but 10,000 years without a primarch or the emperor to lead them led to some bad habits forming. Girlyman got ultradepression after waking up and seeing the Imperium.
>>
>>521215687
His son lorgar who is super religious built the religion around emps, even after emps told him he isn't a god, before he turned heretic and worshipped the chaos gods (because he's religous). Emps ideally doesn't want to be treated like a god, but during the unification crusades he didn't prohibit lorgar and his legion from converting planets to their brand of emp worship, he really only cared that those planets bent the knee and joined the growing imperium. he ideally wants humanity to see him as an achievable natty leader, he wants humans to evolve up to his powerlevel, but he's also had to make a ton of concessions (and some pretty dumb moves) in an effort to reorganize and strengthen humanity so they can survive long enough to even begin to evolve to emp level. you can kinda see space marines and primarchs as speed-up stepping stones to what emps eventually wanted every human to be (a psychic ubersmench like him)
>>
>>521215970
He was not a god - and it shows. Because of how ridiculously mundane his perspective was and how hilariously juvenile was his understanding of human nature. His "plan", such as it was, was no more sophisticated than any frat bro comes up with while drunk off his ass and bullshitting with Chet and Tristan at 3am over a stinking bong. Even garbage like Sam Harris could probably come up with something better.

Sooo what was the deal with the Adra giant under Caed Nua? If I remember correctly it was shaped by Od Nua. But it isnt chiseled, it was "grown" using ancient methods? And he created it so his son would have a vessel when he came back? But the statue contained many other souls as well, as adra seems to do
So what is up with the statue?

>You wouldn't dream of using a king's scepter as a club.
That's a sceptre, not a staff.
>Imagine the pope using the papal ferula as a quarterstaff...
Why not? It's probably like +3 against evil outsiders and undead. And the original priestly stick, the shepherd's crook, was certainly meant to be usable as a weapon, if the shepherd needed to defend himself from wild predators.
>to use a magical implement for vulgar melee combat would be to irrevocably profane the implement such that it would never be useful for magic ever again.

In ancient times, the Engwithans didn't just create the gods, they also created bodies for the gods. Most of the gods abandoned their bodies at some point as a kind of mutual pact they made among themselves to stop interfering so directly in mortal affairs. Eothas parked his under Caed Nua. Eothas resumes inhabiting it at the start of PoE2:Deadfire which launches the events of that game.

Its a fast and large aoe paralyze

But then again, confusion is also a level 4 spell
Gaze of adragan, confusion, shadowflame, wall of many colors, chaotic orb
The wizard is just a broken class desu

Dark envoy has an engineer class, and one of the advance classes builds turrets and drones.

The three shadowrun games also have engineer and drone operator classes.

Rogue Trader lets you be from a forge world and you choose a technological implant/upgrade for yourself but you can't continue to make more of those changes throughout the game, it's just a backstory thing. There are lots of cool laser weapons though, and one of the party members is a tech priest.

One of the most important things about POE that Josh Sawyer correctly saw as a problem in D&D, honestly. In POE, all your stats are relevant to anyone in some way. You can't just dump everything but strength. There's an actual reason why each number is on your sheet.

Once you see it, you can never enjoy D&D ever again.

Slumber is terrible because it breaks if you hit the victim. Fucking garbage spell. It should be level 1 while Grease is moved up to SL3. Confusion is strong in the first game because it works like D&D confusion where the victim behaves in a random, uncontrolled fashion. In Deadfire, it's garbage because all it does is make your spells affect all targets without the yellow friendly-fire radius. This is essentially irrelevant to enemies and human players already have to aim their spells carefully to exclude allies unless you use the most important mod in existence to eliminate the obnoxious and fucking stupid let's-kill-all-our-friends red zone. Gaze and wall are just shitty versions of Shadowflame. Chaotic Orb would be cute as a level 2 spell, but it's only barely better than Chill Fog which you start the game with.

Basically the ranking / organization of the spells is a fucked up mess with no real balance between them. It's a ripe target for modders to rebalance but no one has any interest in the games anymore.

Confusion does not make enemies into allies in either game. Cloud Of Bewilderment has a chance of charming and has an icon similar to confusion.
As an aside, the only person getting hit should be Edér, especially in Deadfire. Everyone else should be ranged because there's literally no benefit to being melee. The only reason to put another person in front is for the fights where you're getting swarmed by sheer numbers - but only because enemies can't all "fit" around Edér to hit him, so they will eventually spillover and target someone else they can reach. CC will prevent that. Edér is literally invincible in the Deadfire. I don't think even the uber bosses can actually kill him just because of how insane the fighter regen is in top of whiteleaf and maybe a ring of regen if you find one.
In the first game, enemy AI is less predictable and gear / class features aren't as insane so before level 5 or so he might need a support tank to help spread some of the damage out.

>>
>>521226072
It does? It has a random chance to turn enemies friendly (green healthbars)
And when they are friendly they get affected by spells like protection, devotions of the faithful, blessing, dire blessing etc
I am playing through the game right now so I am not misremembering
I also disagree with the premise that melees are bad
First of all, barbarians are quite good. They deal a lot of damage and can clear out fights when buffed. Paladins have an accuracy aura, liberating exhortation, the best revive in the game (if you want it), a solid group heal in healing chain, sacred immolation for constant burn damage to enemies and healing to your team. Pallengina is currently vital in keeping my team running smoothly even if she isnt the best tank or damage dealer.
My cipher has crazy melee damage, the second highest damage on my team overall after Aloth. When buffed by time parasite and the accuracy from crown of the faithful he is dealing 30+ damage a hit and stacking focus nearly instantly.
Aloth can go in melee with citizals martial prowess and or spirit lance alone and be very decent
Having a nearly full melee party lets me lock up enemies in groups for debuffs and group buff my team easily
Spells like iconic projection, shining beacon, devotions of the faithful are crazy value even if cast after starting
Sure, you can do much the same with 1 melee, but its so much easier to play like this
>>

Pals and Barbs don't have to be melee.

They were all supposed to. Some of them didn't. Wael, in particular, kept a really big one beneath the Black Isles in the Deadfire archipelago. If you play through that DLC you get the option to power it up and ask Wael to help you fight Eothas in Ukaizo. But it's really frustrating that it doesn't matter because it's like two sentences of "they fought and Eothas won anyway" at the end. Very fucking obnoxious. I haven't played Avowed yet, but it's still irritating that the entire game is pointless since the outcome was predetermined to negate literally everything you've done in the both games all combined.
You might argue that that's the point - to show that the gods' selfishness and egotism trample upon mortal lives with such careless disregard. I guess, ok, that's the main "moral of the story" from both games. But still.

You don't even need to see the interview where Sawyer rambles about how he hates magic and it's too powerful and players shouldn't be able to use magic at all... Not just an opportunist. He's the most conceited narcissist of all of them. Also the most conniving and manipulative, even more than Wael, Woedica or Skaen. At least given what's depicted and described in the games. The worst thing Woedica or Wael have done is work to hide the artificial origins of their "divinity". Meanwhile, Eothas plots and schemes for centuries to completely override all of the others just because he believes that he alone has the correct understanding of things, and he's dead set on literally killing all life on the planet for the sake of his contrived sense of morals.

And as Woedica commented, all he had to do was wait a little bit for the "experiment" to actually have a chance to reach a conclusion. He would have gotten the outcome he claims he wanted if he'd just waited... *IF* he actually did have the faith in mortals that he claimed he had. If he feared that mortals wouldn't succeed, then killing everyone surely couldn't help. So all his bullshit moralizing when you talk to him is just that: it's completely horseshit and lies.

He's the most hypocritical and conceited of all the gods, by far. Just like any other narcissist, he doesn't realize you can see right through him. He believes either he gets what he wants or the entire universe should die and there's no other possible route.

The posturing and pretense about being compassionate and kind and caring about mortals more than the others? BULLSHIT.

Each of the others are very actively involved in making the world move towards development, though they sometimes disagree about the best way forward in details. The only thing Eothas does is murder hundreds of thousands while giving a gaslighting, condescending smile. And then ending all life on the entire planet. Unless mortals can... He only had one brilliant idea, but it wasn't even his. He just quietly acquiesced to a criticism of D&D that'd been around for more than twenty years by the time he designed POE. Specifically, that all ability scores should be relevant in some way to everyone, regardless of class.

All the ideas that he himself personally constructed all turned out to be failures. Like the disposition and reputation systems or the naval combat in Deadfire. Fucking garbage.

>The worst thing Woedica
Well... she has committed many genocides. All the gods are fucked except based Abydon. But yeah, the story with Eothas is an interesting one. He's a nice god but not a good one. The beast of winter DLC with St Waidwen was interesting especially with their relationship. I think Eothas intentions are good, but he's the horseshoe theory to Woedica. Both are batshit insane in what they want.
>>
>>521232820
Eothas directly states that he's planning to just leave the world after ending reincarnation completely - abandoning mortals to the aftermath of the disaster he's causing. So Wael dragging him down was probably just that Eothas left and the inert statue wasn't fighting back anymore.
The other gods in other conversations comment that mortals might have a two or three generations left to get things fixed before all life on the planet dies.
And Eothas just left all that. Is that really the behavior of a virtuous hero who really believes in what he's doing? Break everything, guaranteeing that everyone you claim to care about will absolutely suffer horror, misery and death? But it's misery, horror and death that you won't even be around to witness because you plan to leave the planet entirely forever?

Baern was a young man, so possibly early twenties even.

That's not what's broken about it. The problem is that the only thing it actually does... is give you a 10% discount in shops. Shops that you don't even need because you get plenty equipment and consumables by adventuring.
No one reacts to you based on your disposition - other than to comment "oh you're known as level headed, so surely you can agree with me that we should enslave the Roparu!"
There's no way to participate in the slave trade. You can't lead a Roparu uprising. You can't actually do anything morally. The most significant moral choice you ever get is whether to unblock the adra pillar in Poko Kohara or whether to murder the slavers. But you can't just leave the slavers alone and buy slaves from them. You can't take slaves and sell them to the slavers.
The idea that morality is subjective just is not supported by the game.

Instead, you get a system that acknowledges people like you when you're nice... and otherwise doesn't use terms like "good" or "evil". But it's still a game very deeply and pervasively about morality.

The reason the DLC is not coming out is because all Owlcat employees died in Ukraine. The ones in Cyprus died of sunburn months ago (russians can't survive the sun)

I liked his interactions with St. Waiden in Beast Of Winter because it very bluntly draws comparisons between Eothas and Jesus. Successfully examining how both characters are profoundly perverse and poisonous in their treatment of mortals, stemming from an absolutely cosmic level of narcissistic conceit. It's also a very psychologically realistic depiction of a young man's mistreatment by his insane cultist father and the attempt to cobble together a more constructive worldview in the aftermath.

Waidwen failed to become an atheist because, well, the gods are very actively real in his world... and he does not know the gods weren't gods at all, that they were artificially created by the Engwithans. Otherwise the correct development of his character wouldn't have been so tragic.

I love both PoE and Owlcat's games with a similar degree of fervor. I like the writing of Kingmaker a little more than Wrath, but the companions are awful. Wrath has Sosiel and Trevor, setting it head and shoulders above Kingmaker in that regard. I wish Deadfire's companion dialogues were less Disney trash, but its gameplay systems are pretty polished and it's a far better balanced tactics game than PoE1 or Kingmaker.

I want to love Rogue Trader. I do. But the limitations on character creation are excruciating and the companion variety is like... You have Heinrix and Abelard and no one else is worth remembering their names. Except that dark elf guy who apparently you could recruit if you just wanted to completely ignore all lore and plot to get a subpar melee for some really stupid reason.

This took me forever
The only way to deal with it was perfect everything, no time wasted or mispositioning
Pre buffs from food, a trap, wall of many colors placed very precisely (the game does not like to place it like I did
Aloth couldnt buff himself before the monks arrive so I had to give him dire hit even though nobody else in my party was attacking
Then I throw on boon of the mighty and pain link and it actually kinda works
You cant have Eder blocking the doorway against monks, they get over you
So they need to keep busy far away from you
Trying to walk forward to cast shadowflame isnt going to work, youll get engaged on. All you can do is cast a spell like freezing pillar without giving them line of sight

They're mostly serious and they have more insightful things to say than the PF games, usually.

My main problem with them is that they don't... really... have a reason for me to care about them. Like. They just sort of appear on your bridge. For some reason. And they accompany you on adventures. For some reason. And they demand you solve their problems. For some reason. Listen, bitch, I'm literally a king who owns a few dozen solar systems and commands wealth on a scale that LITERALLY means I don't pay for anything. I do not fucking having time to go to the DMV and sit through the epic line for days or years at a time just so you can get a permit. Especially not since you're a sleazy, slimey smuggler engaged in trafficking shit that would get you - and everyone who ever knew your name - ionized if the inquisition found out about it. And the only reason that parasite is clinging to me is that as a Rogue Trader she's sheltered from that horrific death by my name.

Like. What... is in it for me? What the FUCK are you doing for me, bitch?

At least Heinrix and Abelard are competent and supportive.

Halsin hits round 2 with Shadowheart, churning that goodberry pie he already left in her into a frothy goodberry porridge. Tav sits nearby rocking back and forth, squealing in anticipation, ready to slurp it down eagerly, though still a bit queasy from all he's ingested so far today.
Breathing heavy from the exertion, the archdruid Halsin dismounts Shadowheart and steps aside, revealing the sticky mess he left in her, dripping out slowly.
Tav is still feeling unwell from the previous batches, so starts backing away. "Oh, you aren't quitting now, are you?" Shadowheart teases, casting Command: Eat.
The rich, sweet taste of goodberry and the musky scent of Halsin's thick balls mingle into an intoxicating blend in Shadowheart's damp and sticky Grove.
The mixture has a presence that infiltrates Tav's very pores.
Finally Tav retches, it's just been too much druidic seed... yet still, the feeding frenzy continues.

As Halsin and Shadowheart fall deeper for each other, he takes the lead as the MC running the party. His team rarely includes you so most of the game is sitting at camp with Gale and the pets and Withers asking about your relationship.
Cut scenes with them sharing a tent, laughing and playing all through the night while you try to sleep next to "gassy Gale".
The game proceeds this way where you get to hear about all the things they're doing in the world until they solve the crisis and live together in marital bliss, hiring you on as a caretaker (since you weren't involved much, you aren't entitled to much of the spoils)

"I'm.... I'm really happy for you two" you manage to get out with a weak smile at their wedding
They smile politely and look at eachother
"Oh, Astarion! Ahh, please do excuse us" Shadowheart says, leading Halsin away as you try to look casual standing alone by yourself.

People often complain about Yrliet, and with good reason, but Jae is honestly pretty bad too.

Her first meeting she asks you to help her commit crimes. Then her questline is asking you to abuse your authority to make her an imperial official, when she hasn't really done anything to earn that and she's a known criminal and profiteer. Then one of her ending slides is that she randomly starts beef with your assassins and tries to murder them all for no reason, while they graciously and patiently allow her to live simply because they didn't get orders from the emperor to kill Jae, which actually proves that they don't do thing for self-gain or convenience, they are loyal and obedient to the Emperor even when it inconveniences them, so she accidentally proved their legitimacy through her effort to destroy them, meaning she is fully in the wrong.

Anything that can backstab I imagine. Probably not quarterstaff since as a ranger you have some incentive to use two weapon fighting, but quarterstaff are still good in terms of there always being a decent one around.
Longsword, and daggers are probably the most common in terms of there being a decent one at every given stage of the game. In BG2 Scimitar is also good. Katana has that +3 one you can get from invading some guy's home whenever you want.

Managing arrows means you can change your damage to match the target's weakness. There are infinite ammo quivers in the game, too.
But let's not pretend that opening your inventory page is so difficult. If you're running vanilla, you're opening your inventory to identify stuff frequently anyway. If you're running modded, then you can change the stack size and most common overhauls and fixpacks already give you 120 arrows in a stack. Which will literally last you for hours of combat.

Nothing I said is untrue anon, and your accusation of such makes you a liar. You can subjectively like the character if you so choose, but do not start lying about it.

I also don't care at all about gameplay mechanics. We're obviously talking about story. It doesn't matter if she has unique perks or inflated stats to try to get you to use her or like her.

they predicted a genestealer uprising without even knowing what they are, their use of the emperor's tarot is clearly legitimate. they are proven right several times within the story.

Taking out the Magos, their crypt base and the Kellermorph and the subsequent crackdowns probably weakened them enough that they needed to build strength again.

If you're talking about the story then nothing she asks of you is law-breaking, especially for a rogue trader. And as a rogue trader she is beneficial to you as someone who has actual contacts within xeno-artefacts trade

Play the quest again. You use your status as Rogue Trader to nominate her, someone who would never have had a shot at the position if it weren't for you.

>>521244967
You are mistaken. They foresaw the genestealer threat before they knew what a genestealer was, and they take actions to slow the genestealers which proves instrumental later in the conflict. Many of them also died in the process. This proves that they are not rambling crazy people, and it also proves that they are devoted to the well-being of the ship and of humanity.

Additionally, when Jae begins her campaign against them, they do not take the easy target to end her meddling, because the emperor doesn't tell them to kill her. Meaning they put up with her meddling because of how loyal and disciplined they are. She is trying to murder them, and they only dodge and parry rather than just killing her because the emperor didn't give them orders to retaliate and end the threat.

They are legitimate.

>>521248818
Yes, every thing she asks you to do is law-breaking actually. You are mistaken regarding what the cold trade is. All of it is illegal. Just because you as Rogue Trader get to ignore laws doesn't mean it's actually legal. The right to ignore laws does not retroactively make what you do legal in the literal sense. She also asks you to help commit crimes before she knows you're a rogue trader. If you go incognito, she learns you're a rogue trader during the heist. She you're mistaken about that too, she was willing to make you complicit in a crime before she knew you were immune to the law, which reflects poorly on her character.

>of such a low level that the inquisition doesn't care.
Not at all. The inquisition cares about all latent psykers and actively hunts them down. It was mentioned in the rule books. And here you have a whole bunch of them huddled in a place that is regularly exposed to warp energies. What could possibly go wrong?
>>
>>521249313
I think they're just standing around, which seems quite torturous
>>
>>521250242
nothing, because it's not a particularly unique death cult. death cults attract latent, low-level psykers and their existence is tolerated because they're so useful. the inquisition doesn't 100% follow its own rules, who would've thought. a crazy puritan witchhunter might go after a death cult but the majority of inquisitors wouldn't.
>>

Refer to my original post. My complaint is not the ability to do so, my complaint is that the Rogue Trader community always shits on Yrliet, while someone who is also pretty bad seems to get a golden ticket from criticism. Jae does bad things and takes advantage of the RT in various ways, and is a bad influence on your protectorate in various ways, but nearly all of the negativity is focused on Yrliet. Not that Yrliet doesn't deserve it, I'm commenting more on the lack of it regarding Jae when she deserves some.

>because it's not a particularly unique death cult. death cults attract latent, low-level psykers and their existence is tolerated because they're so useful.
The difference is that this death cult is on a void ship
>the inquisition doesn't 100% follow its own rules, who would've thought.
Not my problem. There should have been an option to complain about them to Jimmy, and for him to tell you to not get your panties in a bunch if he thinks you're overreacting
>>521250602
>my complaint is that the Rogue Trader community always shits on Yrliet, while someone who is also pretty bad seems to get a golden ticket from criticism
Oh, so you're retarded, and have no idea what you're talking about. The community shits on yrliet because she's a badly written mess and her antiques land you in cumrag while not contributing anything to your cause. Unlike jae who doesn't do anything to undermine you or your protectorate while actvively contributing to your endeavors
>>
>>521250821
They are legitimate, and Jae doesn't care and does what she does anyway against a group of legitimate and helpful people. Thank you for agreeing with me that Jae is the bad guy in this scenario and that it's strange she doesn't get more flak than she does from the community.
>>
>>521249283
Those abilities are literally drawn from that outer-dimensional entropy, anon. Like. Famously, ALL psykers are channeling the Warp. Whether they're seeing the future by reading the Emperor's Tarot or spraying fire or reading minds and poppin' brains like water balloons, they're channeling the Warp.

And they are *EXPLICITLY* defined - like as in DEFINED - as insanity that allows them to do so. It's a pretty foundational principle for the entire setting, anon, and it's explained in literally the first five minutes of the game.
>>
>>521251115
I wish you could interact with the real jae without the shereen bullshit more than once. her (true) backstory is really interesting and could have made her a more interesting companion if more was done with it.

>>
>>521249808

>>
>>521251225
There are lots of death cults on various voidships. That detail is not relevant at all. That anon is correct that there are many death cults, and many of them use tarot or other esoteric means of choosing targets. The particular death cult that is on on your ship proves many times to be not only accurate, but also faithful servants and extremely helpful. Your ire towards them is misplaced, and now you're saying random things to try to justify it, like the fact that they live on a ship instead of on a planet.

We've already gone over the ways Jae is a bad influence on your protectorate, as well as the ways she was willing to make you complicit in crime before she was aware of your immunity, as well as the way she asks you to abuse your authority for her self-gain which far outweighs the benefit to yourself, as well as her efforts against the cult which saved your life and makes your protectorate safer which is in fact an example of her acting against the best interests of you and your protectorate due to her personal emotions.

It's a fact that she's a bad influence, but you turn a blind eye and repeat much of the same misinformation about the cult that she does in-game, which is funny.
>>
I hate games where rping as a mercenary yields strictly less than a good guy
>>
>>521250602

>>
>>521251627
Pretty sure the entire game's main plot revolves precisely around how dogmatic == heinous evil of a scale, scope and intensity that is difficult for the human mind to fully comprehend and that it has been the sinister plot of the Ruinous Powers all along, literally for more than a hundred thousand years, and that the Emperor is a nascent Chaos God still evolving and will bloom into full divinity as a Chaos God of tyranny and fascism eventually.
>>
Here's every 40k plot setting detail from the imperial perspective
>something incredibly fucked up that appeals to edgelords
>some convoluted reason why it totally makes sense and definitely isn't the result of some psychopath/corruption/whatever
You don't need to have this conversation about every little thing
>>
>>521252048
>jae is bad because shes a bad influence
>because she's a smuggler and asks you to help her become a legit trader
anon her quest is about her cutting ties with being a smuggler and starting out fresh as an honest trader (only to get btfoed in the credits by an unamed rogue trader because grimderp). your really just complaining that the smuggler character acts like a smuggler
>>
>>521252354
You forgot the third point - that the tortured rationalization of incredibly fucked up shit is an additional evil of similar magnitude.
>>
>>521251627
I didn't say dogmatic = good. This is a complete non-sequitur that is not related to anything I said.

What I actually said is that the cult proves to be legitimate, helpful, and loyal to the emperor. They save your life, the lives of countless of your crew, and they are never shown to be mistaken about anything. Which means Jae's crusade against them is illegitimate, and founded on an illogical emotional reaction to them being edgy, or the unproven potential that they might some day be wrong which hasn't happened yet. Jae is, in fact, the instigator in the conflict and she is in the wrong. She is trying to destroy a helpful, legitimate, and loyal institution on illogical emotional grounds and maybes. She is the bad guy in this particular conflict.
>>
>>521251345
The insane people in 40k are the ones who try to deny the warp, not the ones seeing and understanding (admittedly a fraction of) it. The Imperial Truth was absolutely delusional, while embracing faith and limited use of psychic mutants has protected humanity for ten thousand years. Yeah, being a psyker does make you conventionally nutty in most cases, but that's just the trouble in a species and culture that tries to suppress such things. You don't see the Eldar being crazy despite all of them being psykers, it's not something inherent.
The four options, in-setting, are deny the warp (delusional, has never worked), use the warp (successful even if dangerous), embrace the warp (fate worse than death for 99.999...% of people) and delete the warp (only works for necrons, and living beings become soulless husks because of it)

Memories make us what we are whether we like it or not and our problems don't go away if we close our eyes. They are what define what we have lived, our time in the world. To take that away is to throw anyway life itself, no matter how painful it will be. Even if the cause of your pain is out of your control you must still remember it, as hardship makes us grow stronger. If you don't face yourself every day despite the discomfort you will not grow and improve. Few good things in life are easy and nothing ever gets better by letting it fester

If you pay attention to the shit Thaos says, or just pay attention to the fucking ruins everywhere, it's a simple matter of time before the gods would say "Oops. If you pay attention while you're playing the game, the gods themselves explicitly explain to you that Eothas' actions will catastrophically disrupt reincarnation such that no new life will be able to be born once the reservoir runs out. Which will happen in two or three generations.
Yes, reincarnation was a natural phenomenon before they existed. But after they constructed the Wheel to improve the process, it would not go back to the way it was before.
When Eothas breaks the Wheel, mortals have two or three generations to repair it before all life ends on the planet.

And Eothas knew that. And you know he knew that because he literally tells you so himself when you ask him about it.

You can be forgiven for not catching this part since it's knowledge that kind of lands with little fanfare.

Except for the half dozen scenes in which various characters react with shocked horror when you tell them about it after you get told by the gods.

... When the game ends, animancers are hated and feared and are having difficulty reliably attaching souls to automata to make funcitonal golems. Adra is being strip-mined because it's valuable for cosmetics and medicine and no one knows what it really is or how to make it. Rymrgand warns you that if he catches you or any other animancers makin' trips through the In-Between using the Adra, he'd annihilate your souls. And no one knows what the gods really are and their cults, both the secret ones and the public ones, are both ubiquitous and extremely firmly established.

If you're gonna claim that Eothas really believes mortals can get rid of religion and surpass the pinnacle achievements of the lost ancient Engwithan civilization all in the span of forty years, you're even more delusional than he is.

Reminder: most of those secret cults have been working for thousands of years to eradicate ALL the knowledge that might even be remotely tangentially related to what mortals would need to thoroughly understand in order to reconstruct the Wheel.

And given the scale and scope of the project, it would require the entire planet to instantly stop literally all economics and devote ALL their efforts into reconstructing the Wheel. And as Woedica points out, that ain't gonna happen. Just the economics and logistics of constructing a city-sized machine is an absolutely INSANE task given the technology level available at the end of Deadfire. Neketaka has a population of 100,000 people. Let that sink in.
