It spikes the absolute hardest of probably any class in the 30s-40s...but on any rate above 2x-3x that barely matters because everyone can reach a higher level almost instantly. Especially if multi level-ups are enabled since you can just do Amatsu quest cheese to skip to 50-60 instantly. The class has two good skills in the magic tree and that's it. Blaze shield is a fast cast fire aoe that shits out a lot of hits and stunlocks enemies in place, but it's still worse than a wizard that knows how to use firewall. Freezing Spear is actually really good as it combines the best parts of a bolt skill with jupitel thunder - it hits 2+skill level times while only having a flat 0.7 cast time per rank and zero aftercast delay. It only lacks knockback but because you can spam level 1 freezing spear faster than even a wizard can spam JTs, and you have cicada skin shed, you end up farming even high level mobs really efficiently on day 1. You'll often even see INT rogues plagarize it to farm with, it's that good.For as much praise as freezing spear gets though, it doesn't scale well because it's not AoE, has no CC utility, and still pales in comparison to lategame wiz's power once they get job bonus INT, amp magic, etc. And it really is ninja's only truly great skill, the rest of their skill tree is a shallow puddle. Even other starter skill builds like PVM rogue, AGI knight, TU priest, can all be respecced out of into being a useful class. There is NOWHERE for ninja to go to afterwards. The class fucking sucks. The fact that they have to use shuriken or magic stones for every class just makes it even worse, but without that restriction it would still suck dick without massive skill buffs across the board.

Your damage is very mediocre, and without AoE you basically lose every meaningful DPS check against someone using skills.Now for the positives, back in the early days before a lot of pserv QoL customization (like increased SP regen), before trans items and gear and skills and SP pool, before Ep 10 gave us a shit ton more SP items like strawberries, the game was a lot slower paced. You often had to sit to regen SP for minutes at a time, a lot of classes (like hunter! wow it was sort of balanced back then!) were weaker specifically because they couldn't do much due to always being OOM. Critsin and other agi classes like knight, rogue, even smith, got around this by not needing to use any spells, just autoattack shit to death. Sin especially has the ability to job change immediately at 40 without repercussion, and spikes super hard if they job change in their early to mid base-50s. It feels great and for a while you're on top of the world, when 1x servers meant people would stall at the 50s-60s, sins were fucking everywhere only behind knights, and to other players they looked amazing, dodging everything and the crit sound effect is so crunchy and nice. But unfortunately the harsh reality sets in arouind base 75-80, where critsin falls off a fucking cliff and god forbid you ever try to push one to 99. It's miserable. It's fucking AWFUL.
