So what are good tobacco fragrances. Other than the one in OP, I've heard of Mancera Red Tobacco, and then Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. However I am hestiant about the Tom Ford one because after trying Ombre Leather Parfum and noticing how quickly the scent's complexity I'm worried about similar experiences with other Tom Ford fragrances.

Tabac Dore for real tobacco, the attar is really nice if you don't want to drop 350 on a bottle and you can get 9ml decants for $90. Tobacco Maniac is my favorite honey tobacco, and Amouage Royal Tobacco for frankincense/tobacco. The Amouage is definitely incense heavy so it's hard to really class it as just a tobacco.

Pineward haul came in.

Bought the summer sample set to fill in the few things not included when I bought his full set this past winter. Looking forward to trying to them because there’s a lot of lime notes mentioned.

He was also kind enough to include Juniperus, his new release, as well as Iceflow, assumably something he’s working on which as of writing has zero hits when searching for it on Google.

Chergui is good. 18.21 Manmade Sweet Tobacco Spirits is extremely good for the price. It's performance is on par with luxury houses like Killian and Parfums de Marly, but it costs $80 on Amazon. It's from a little startup that does men's grooming products, and I guess their customers kept asking them to make a fragrance that smells like their scented hair products.

It sat on the shelf at around $40 for a while until fragcom found out about it and then it exploded. There was an insane amount of hype for like a year, then people kind of forgot about it. It has a photo-realistic honied-tobacco accord with an interesting red wine note that tempers the sweetness and mixes with patchouli and cedar that darkens it up a bit. The quality is somewhat baffling given that there's no listed perfumer and it's literally the first release put out by a house that doesn't actually make perfume. If I sprayed Oajan or Back to Black on one hand and 18.21 on another and asked someone to pick out the fragrance that cost $300, they'd probably have no clue.

Big fan of Caron pour un Homme de Caron EDT, it's still one of the biggest bottles I own (500 ml.) Blind bought it quite a few years ago after one of your videos recommending it, such a good recommendation. Right now the bottle has only about 25% left. I use it on my own, and also on my bed and pillows before going to sleep. It's wonderful! Looking forward to checking out this parfum. Maybe they will consider an Elixir? That would be great!

Well, I tried and compared Habit Rouge EdT and Parfum. They are very different fragrances. The Parfum is a darker, warmer fragrance that has kind of a smokey leatheriness to it. It isn't a very prominent leather or smokiness but it is interesting. It also doesn't have a large change between the initial application and the dry down. The EdT in comparison is much brighter. The opening citrus notes are much more prominent. Also the floral notes in the EdT are very strong. In the beginning I think I prefer the EdT. I'm a big fan of the floral notes. But in the drydown I think I prefer the parfum. However, having tried both I don't think I will purchase either. While I do like both of them I don't think I like them enough to purchase.

What are the best fragrances to attract young 18-21 year old girls? I would assume they like iso e super because it's packed into every shampoo used by teenage boys. I would also assume they like gourmands because they have no culture so food scents will be the most familiar to them. Another idea is that they would be attracted to a man who wears women's floral perfume because they are all lesbian or they/them and/or attracted to femboys. Does anyone have experience with this? I'm 29 btw

Jicky is pretty nice but Caron pour un homme feels more wearable for most occasions. I don’t know if I’ll ever finish my four bottles of Jicky but I’m running through a bottle of pour un homme every year.
>>
>>18097509
If you like Caron pour un homme get the vintage formulation. It is better. I also have a big bottle (750ml) that I use for linens and everything. It and guerlain vetiver are my two favorite fragrances for sure. The leau flanker is also very nice for a modern interpretation that doesn’t stray too far. The sport flanker is also nice but doesn’t have much of the original dna asides from lavender
>>
>>18097530
Thanks for following up. Try the habit rouge edc if you can. It’s the best by far. Than edt and edp. I haven’t tried the parfum yet. I’m looking forward to your review of heritage edp. I haven’t tried that yet either but have a few different formulations of the edt
>>
I also want to comment on the psychology of luxury products. Guerlain and Caron perfumes were readily available at discounter prices for years (30-40usd for 100ml bottles) and people here pointed their nose up at it but are now happy to pay 150usd for a 100ml bottle. Very interesting

The new parfum of Habit Rouge is more masculine than the EDT, though the scent profile is very different. What is it about Habit Rouge EdT that you find feminine? The Floral notes? It is a little sweet but to the levels of a lot of other men's fragrances today.

I’m not too interested in the parfum version. As far as what I don’t like about it, I really couldn’t single out a specific note or anything. I just don’t like it. It’s like this airy rose sweetness thing that I can smell in shalimar but it’s covered in a bed of vanilla that really turns down the saturation on what I find nauseating in HR. There’s something in HR that reminds me of egoiste too. I don’t know if it’s rose or rosewood but both of those frags I don’t love

There is a lot of focus on the projection of fragrance on this general. From what I can tell, high projection is generally seen as a good thing.

Equally prevalent in this hive of scum and villainy are wildly differing opinions of what fragrances smell good vs. not. Just today, I looked up a fragrance I recently tried and fell in love with, only to find that someone else had made a post calling this specific cologne *REALLY FUCKING SHIT*.

I'm sure we can all agree that what smells good is totally subjective, and that no one enjoys breathing in odors that they find objectionable.

So how does wearing enough cologne/perfume that someone more than a couple feet away from you can smell it not exactly correlate to blasting your music without headphones?

I'm not referring to instances of wearing a cologne that your partner loves on you and wanting them to smell it. I'm talking about leaving your home wanting to be surrounded by a "projection" cloud that people who are not hugging you can still detect.

Honestly, I think you should all go die.

theres a few tryhards in this general (and this website by extension) that are too obsessed with being either too niche and unpleasant, or something incredibly vintage so it looks like they have some semblance of taste outside the general market, and thus better than everyone else. It's a sad thing, when frags are just a consumptive hobby that isn't really a competition, just wear what you like.

>So how does wearing enough cologne/perfume that someone more than a couple feet away from you can smell it not exactly correlate to blasting your music without headphones?

It can be. But there are varying degrees of noticing something. If something is lightly detectable at a couple feet distance from you it is different than if something is strongly detectable at 5 or more feet from you. I generally when wearing a fragrance I will spray 2 sprays on the neck. Perhaps another on the sternum area of my shirt. I don't have any fragrances that are super strong so I'm assuming if people notice the scent I'm wearing it is fleeting. But different cultures are different. It is my understanding that in Japan people are closer to your opinion where no one should smell almost any scent on you. This is somewhat seen in East Asian fragrances which tend to much lighter than Western and Oriental fragrances.

Because they had to set the series in the 1900s so the race-swapped cast would have a reason to be living in New Orleans without being enslaved. The great tragedy in all of this is that Sam Reid was actually really good at playing the character. He was just in a terrible show.

Also, Louis had slaves in the original movie. Lestat fed on them because they couldn't run away. You're not going to see that in current year

hello anons, I would just like to tell you that I spent 3 hours today in 3 different stores smelling ~50 if not more niche fragrances, I have gained a lot of knowledge today
if anyone is interested in what I've smelled feel free to ask, I will gladly respond
>>
>>18098469
We can’t read your mind anon
But I’ll take the bait, name the stores and your top 5 frags at each and why
Bonus question, did you buy anything?
>>
>Daily
Dior Homme 2020
>Formal/special occasion
MFK Masculin Pluriel
>Date night/going out
Gucci Guilty Pour Homme EDP

I really don’t think I need anything else anymore. Maybe Bon Monsieur
>>
>>18098470
just some local store in my city, not something you'd recognise most likely

first one:
chypre palatin
cuir cuba
odalisque

second one:
missisipi medicine
bowmakers
cdg black

third one had some I found interesting but nothing that really stood out to me like
Bertrand Duchaufour Renegades
Emotional Rescue from buxton
and I think 1725 from histories de parfums (fuck their naming scheme)

>Bonus question, did you buy anything?
no lol just smelled frags with a mate (no homo)
>>
>>18098474
oh and I bought kiehls musk in their boutique at the shopping mall
>>
>>18098470
>and why
>>18098474
forgot that part

>chypre palatin
it's very well blended and a great composition, fantastic stuff
>cuir cuba
best tobacco leather I've smelled
>odalisque
fantastic green chypre

>missisipi medicine
fantastic green smoky deep fragrance
>bowmakers
it's a bit strange but I really liked it for some reason
>cdg black
reminds me of bvlgari black (I wonder why) would buy and wear for the novelty factor alone

>Bertrand Duchaufour Renegades
duchafour in a bottle
>Emotional Rescue from buxton
interesting compostion that would work great in spring as something a bit sweet and a bit floral which I like
>1725
it smells weird but nice, not sure if I'd wear it

also gotta mention how NYI is to me just lalique pour homme but way better and the powderiness is a balanced out which makes me like it a lot more
>>
>>18098473
wow, they’re all garbage
>>
>>18098482
I also gave most of the mancera catalogue a sniff or two and just like expected they all fucking suck lmao

from what I've smelled nicolai is very good
weekend in normandy was nice and so was baikal leather
not too much of a fan of no.1
amber oud was nice but a bit too sweet for me
>>
bitterfag just made up a new persona
>>
>>18098489
speaking of slop like mancera, pdm also sucks

I spent a bit more time with chergui and I stand by what I've said before about it: sample it if you haven't

didn't get to try and bond no.9 because all the testers were empty lmao

tried a few jacques zoltys and they are nothing special or interesting in fact I disliked megusta
>>
>>18098491
tried two goldfield & banks
blue cypress which was ok but probably not for me
pacific rock moss which was quite nice for a freshie
I also sorta kinda knocked a serge lutens bottle from it's shelf and it nearly fucking exploded
I kinda understand why normies wear black afgano but I didn't enjoy it
>>
>>18098427
I already have Virgin Island Water sar. I'm looking for a different scent.
>>
So after comparing the Heritage EDT and EDP, they are very similar. The main difference is that the EDP just smells a little stronger. I do notice Lavender more in the EDP than in the EDT, but it still isn't a very prominent note for me in the EDP. Both smell really good in the dry down. I am very happy with my purchase of Heritage EDP. It is a great fragrance.
>>
>>18098426
>Good day, fag sars

This is you. This is what you sound like. Those two things are nothing alike
>>
>>18098492
cgd man 2 was really strange, it kept changing a lot but I can appreciate the strangeness
ormonde woman was nice, would wear

tried 3 essential parfums
nice bergamotte - don't see why you'd bother with it since issey miyake made the best bergamot like 10? years ago
mon vetiver was a nice vetiver I guess
bois imperial - now this sucked hard I guess that's why hipsters wear it - basil with woods, I don't know what bisch was thinking with this

invasion barbare was really really nice too but it has nothing on chypre palatin
>>
>>18098426
Carlisle. Just do it.
>>
>>18098493
yes, we already know you’re a virgin, that was a given.
>>
>>18098491
>didn't get to try and bond no.9 because all the testers
If you dislike PDM and Mancera, you're probably not going to like Bond. They're basically Mancera perfumes sold at PDM prices. They're a lot nich-ier then PDM, they do have some pretty unique compositions, but I feel like you're not going to like them.

I don't buy the whole Christianity schtick. I know what demonic possession looks like. Famed occultists John Dee and Edward Kelly claimed to have summoned the Archangel Gabriel and asked him many things about demonic entities. One such entity was the demon Choronzon, dweller in the abyss. According to Gabriel, Choronzon is an aspect of Satan, and his name adds up to 333 in Hebrew Gematria.

This entity is the personification of nothingness attempting to become something. In its celestial form it is an unending series of shapes all trying to take form. Aleister Crowley claimed to have summoned this entity, and believed that if met with the appropriate degree of preparedness, it can be used to destroy the ego and propel an initiate across the abyss to achieve the title of Magister Templi, or Master of the Temple.

Crowley also states that if the initiate is not ready to face Choronzon, the demon will infect the initiate's soul and possess him. He called these failed initiates "black brothers". They always became exaggerated versions of themselves. There was an unnatural wrongness to them. Something uncanny. It is as though the demon who has taken them over is all too excited to finally be given a corporeal form. Some believe, and I count myself among them, that Crowley himself, did not defeat Choronzon, but was taken as a black brother. Most of the Crowley we know was likely Choronzon using him as a puppet.

Jeremy Fragrance has suffered the same fate. You just know.

Over the top masculine scents tend to be built around heavy musks and dry woods. Something like Aventus and Sauvage. Over the top feminine fragrances tend to be built around strong florals. I would actually consider Eros to be pretty feminine for a man's fragrance, despite the way it's marketed. It's very sweet.

Tom Ford Bitter Peach (2020) is another hilariously cynical and awful party trick of a fragrance slapped into a uniquely-colored but over-priced Private Blend bottle following in the footsteps of things like Lost Cherry (2018) or Lavender Extrême (2019). I don’t know who perfumed this one, but they succeeded in making the world’s most expensive homage to a Glade Plug-In air freshener, because that is what this one ultimately smells like when it dries down. Some people claim this has very little performance, but maybe I’m sensitive to what’s in it because for me this one is sheer terror that never abates in the sillage department. I had to vehemently scrub then dispose of my paper sample outside when finished test-driving the stuff, so beware that perceptions of performance can vary wildly from person to person here. There is a litany of notes listed for Bitter Peach, but this is no classic Guerlain, and like most Tom Ford scents, is a front-loaded linear weaponized fragrance experience, that only fades into something else after the first few hours. Once this initial switch happens, there the fragrance shall stay until removed from skin, so Bitter Peach wears like watching a film divided into two parts by an intermission. Unfortunately, this is a very droll “sprawling epic” of a film that entertains film students more than casual viewers, being all sweeping stedi-cam shots or Dutch angles.
>>
>>18099126
The opening is as the label describes minus any perceived bitterness as the name claims, giving you a very juicy but artificial dessert-like peach. This isn’t the normal lactonic peach note of classic chypres such as Guerlain Mitsouko (1919), but more like Air-Wick spray or cheap candy peach, and here is where you shall dwell until about the hour mark. After you reach the end of the first hour, musky commercial scent spices and more of a mulled sweetness take over. Davana, rum, and jasmine sambac are listed but for the life of me all I get is the smell of some autumnal variety of home fragrance you can buy from the grocery store, until eventually the peach is gone and all you smell is this. The other 12+ hours on skin will give you this Glade vibe mixed with cashmeran, fractioned patchouli isolates, and tonka. Projection gets a bit closer after this too, but sillage is very cloying and extroverted, at least to the wearer (me). I don’t know where all the claimed goodness in the listed base notes are, but what’s here gives you no rest from the institutional bathroom or overly-scented Prius of a late-night Uber driver trying to hide the smell of his previous intoxicated passengers. Best use is far away from me, preferably across the street, thanks. If your name is James and you’re looking for a giant peach, this one ain’t it chief.
>>
>>18099126
There are a few peach-foward niche fragrances out there for perusal if you’re really looking for something like this with more than just a gimmick and tacky potency to validate its existence. Parfums MDCI Péché Cardinal (2008) is a good place to start if not Royal by Moresque (2019), which both seem to take themselves seriously enough to be whole perfumes instead of “gotcha” gags that end up smelling like overly-concentrated room sprays. The usual “bought and sold” perfume reviewers plus YouTube and Instagram hype that brought me to trying this fragrance for myself once again have me shaking my head, leading me to believe that these shameless self-promoters will say just about anything to get more followers for ad revenue or free bottles they can flip on the side. Imagine being tricked into spending hundred of dollars to smell like something you buy from a Dollar Tree to keep the bathroom of your nail salon not smelling like taco night at a college dorm. The only thing truly bitter about Tom Ford Bitter Peach is the disappointment of the person sniffing this for the first time and expecting it to smell like the name states it should, or the cynical marketing “genius” in charge of all these inane Party-City-in-a-bottle cash grabs. Thumbs down.

it’s pretty obvious when he starts every review with Brand Name Perfume Name (Release Year) and ends it with Thumbs up/Neutral/Thumbs down.

>>18099220
the first part isn't enough and I guessed before I even got to the end

>the first part isn't enough
trust me, it is. giving the brand name and release year of every other perfume he mentions also makes it really easy to pick up on.

It’s A character from Death Note. An anime . I don’t watch much anime but it’s a pretty good show. Just drop it after a character named Near shows up though ; that’s where it was supposed to end per the creator

I kind of prefer Lalique PH to NYI. The openings are different, but they dry down similar. I guess I prefer the lighter, airier nature of it and the focus on lavender and rosemary over the classic old school Pour Monsieur like accord in the NYI opening

My sample for the day was Montcler Pour Homme. It's a nice simple clary sage fragrance. Just clary sage and wood basically. Clary sage smells clean to me like a soap ingredient. I've tried Luna Rossa EDT before and I liked it, Montcler PH is basically that but without going all the way into the soap ingredient direction.

I'm looking for tobacco frags too.

Naxos 1861 is good for honey+tobacco but it comes with cinnamon which makes you smell like a graham cracker, which I don't want if I just want honey+tobacco. And it the lavender is a bit of weird niche combo.

Spicebomb Extreme is a nice for tobacco+vanilla, I thought it was like a better/more complex Tom Ford tobacco Vanille that smelled like whiskey.

D&G The One is good if you want a cardamom fragrance.

I just tried Aramis Havana Reseva, I didn't like it, mainly because of the tangerine note.

I want to try Tom Ford Tobacco Oud intense and Reyane Tradition Insurrection II Wild next.
