Isn't it remarkable how many of these renders use things which must have been quite demanding at the time, like cast shadows and reflections, but very few of them make use of artistic tools which are mostly independent of technology, like tasteful use of composition, colour, or even basic design, all of which had long been mastered by painters when these images were made.
