Anyone here tried using DFF for animations?
There was a talk yesterday about this technique, though it seems everyone is doing it slightly differently.

In the video he describes using raycasts to partially hide the geometry based on a curve. Pic uses a greasepencil object to do the same thing.

Someone should vibecode an alternative to blender, please.

The version in your pic is based on Urena's method which is shader-based to make the hole without actually cutting the geometry, to avoid using booleans. It kinda depends on whether you need perf or actual geometry (and other geonode methods aim to make the cut without needing booleans, Urena did another one based on subdivision and culling, apparently there's something similar in your video).

It's a really nifty trick, but also quite situational, you can do most of what it does with just the "sonic mouth" setup (mouth shrinkwrapped to an invisible mouthless jaw) and appropriate topology so you've really gotta have a use case for the crazy cartoon mouth to justify using such an unconventional setup.

Is your webm the same technique as what op is showing? Could you go into greater detail on sonic technique?

The sonic technique is explained there:

The one from the webm, by Urena, is the inspiration for the smirk addon and analyzed there:

this is for porn right

No, porn mouth rigs are laser targeted for wrapping around something, not crazy looney tunes expressions

Thank you
