Both can avoid a subscription payment, but that doesn’t make them the same thing.
Piracy involves unauthorized copying of someone else’s software. I’m talking about using AI to write an independent program with similar functionality.

A better word than "copy" is making an alternative.
>>
>>1034212
this is not piracy, it is reverse engineering, ofc you can fuck some propietary shits in names and stuff, I suppose the clanker coded it with that in mind.

>>1034214
>>1034215
both methods produce a functionally identical product by making superficial changes to the data from an existing program
what's the difference?
>>
>>1034217
Having similar functionality doesn’t mean having the same implementation. Two calculators can produce identical answers without one containing copied code from the other.

AI tools can write a separate implementation from a description of the features I need, without being given the original program or its source code.
>>
>>1034218
so directly copying the function and implementation of something is original so long as i alter the exact mechanism that produces the function?

the neural net (russian man) i used to independently develop (crack) my unique program (unsilenced premiere) did that when he unlocked the program and translated it, so i guess all this time i've actually been a software developer with unfortunately similar branding on my unique and original product...
>>
>>1034219
No. Changing some details of copied software doesn’t make it an independent implementation. Your cracked Premiere example still uses Adobe’s actual program, with its licensing restrictions modified. Calling that “independent development” doesn’t make it so.

I’m describing writing a separate program that performs similar tasks without copying Adobe’s protected code or assets. Implementing video trimming in your own code and modifying Premiere to bypass its licence are different actions.

>>
>>1034220
>cracked Premiere example still uses Adobe’s actual program, with its licensing restrictions modified
>a separate program that performs similar tasks without copying Adobe’s protected code or assets.
you didnt say what the difference between the two things was.
one is someone else's code altered to perform a slightly different function.
The other is someone else's code transcribed differently to perform the same function.
where is the difference?
in both minor (arguably only cosmetic) changes were made to someone else's code to reproduce the exact same effect, while using the original code as the basis of the work and as a direct reference for how to write out the new code.

you cant "write your own research paper" by copying an existing one but with different sentence structures and minorly changing the data arbitrarily, it's still a copy. rewriting lord of the rings sentence for sentence but "in your own words" isnt creating a new book, its an indirect transcription, which is a copy just as much as a pirated PDF is a copy. you just did a lot more work to make something worse than the original
>>
>>1034242
I only agree that translating someone else’s code or making cosmetic changes doesn’t automatically create an independent work. If that were what I meant, your criticism would apply.

But you keep assuming that the original source code is the basis and direct reference for the new program. Asking an AI to “build a video editor that can trim clips and arrange them on a timeline” is not the same instruction as “take Premiere’s code and rewrite it.”
The difference is between copying an existing implementation and creating an implementation from functional requirements. Those requirements describe what the program should do. They don’t dictate the original developer’s code.

Regarding lord of the rings, your book analogy would fit a sentence by sentence rewrite of an existing novel. It doesn’t establish that every new book sharing a premise is a transcription. Likewise, matching a software feature doesn’t establish that the underlying implementation was copied.

My original version of “make a copy” was imprecise but I’ve already clarified it.
>>
>>1034243
>you keep assuming that the original source code is the basis and direct reference for the new program

>>
>>1034187
>fomo tactics
totally not sus
>>
>>1034244
If someone decompiles a game and reuploads its code without permission, I’m not defending that.
But a program or AI tool can implement familiar features using independently written code.
It doesn’t have to invent a new category of software to qualify as development.
>>
>>1034247
IF, and only if, its actually developed and not transcribed.i think that's reasonable conjecture since its the easiest and fastest way, is extremely common in among vibe coders at the moment, and is most likely to make a near 1:1 copy like this
now, thats not a problem for me since im pro piracy, my objection is anti-slop. but you... you just said that would be indefensible. so show me how you prove to yourself that this is not pirated software

There's nothing magical about how Zbrush is made. In fact, it's quite the opposite.
Zbrush was coded by Human programmers using all the same rules and logic that machines can already learn from.

Now, guess whose jobs are being wiped away or replaced by AI in 2026?
Spoiler alert: Coders and programmers. There is nothing special about them.

I haven't used the Zbrush clone but I have used the Maya ones.
And yes, they can exist without a single code being lifted from Maya.

How do I know? Because I literally did try making my own version when ChatGPT-6 Astra was first announced.
See pic related, it was very easy to get Blender to try and mimic the modelling kit found in Maya.
Of course, if I had the time and patience I could have gone all the way and make a 100% clean room version of Maya.

Both Blender and Maya have similar 3D functions, yet Blender didn't have to "pirate" Maya's source code to get there.
Or did you seriously believe that Autodesk invented the concept of "Polygons"?

>this is the same as making an entirely new program from the ground up that implements all the design quirks of another program
Uh, yeah?
Game engines do it all the time.
Unreal Engine 5 is built directly on top of Unreal Engine 4's architecture.

>It's your job to prove if there's any Zbrush code in there. Not mine.
no its not, because im pro piracy. im just going to use the real zbrush. and even if i was, i HAVE presented my evidence, which is conjectural. YOU have nothing contrary beyond speculation that it might not be. on the balance of evidence YOU are most likely violating your own values and not even using the best possible version of the program in the proccess. seems kind of stupid to me, dont you think?
>>
>>1034272
>i never even remotely implied that you did. if you think thats what i said you're retarded
Then why do you deny that AI tools can't also work independently?
Modifying Blender to get it to mimic Maya without ever using Maya's code is not a contradiction. Yet you tried to fight it.

>i HAVE presented my evidence, which is conjectural.
Accusations are not evidence.
Once again, two calculators can exist that output the same answer. That is not prove that they came from the same factory, nor did they ever come in contact with each other before.

You have to prove there is any Zbrush code in Sculptforge. Outputting the same answers =/= same source code.
>>
>>1034272
>YOU are most likely violating your own values and not even using the best possible version of the program in the proccess.
Zbrush didn't invent sculpting. It didn't invent 3D art.
If I modified Blender so it could handle the same million polygon counts as Zbrush, that can be done without ever touching Zbrush's code.

Could someone else ripoff Zbrush code? Sure. But it's the same as someone taking a knife and stabbing a stranger with it instead of prepping meals.
How someone else uses a tool does not imply guilt for everyone who ever uses it. That's why you must now prove where is the stolen code in Sculptforge.

Using AI and making a competing product is not proof of guilt.
>>
>>1034252
You dumb bitch, the language code isn’t the problem. It’s AI generated nonsense that breaks human experience, that’s why UI is better than Blender. There’s reasons why we optimize 3D graphics for Maya. The Zbrush settings exist because there’s a human behavior behind it.

AI slop doesn’t get it.
>>
>>1034278
What human experience? You mean pseudoscience crap?
There's nothing magical about the UI that a robot can't do also.

>AI slop doesn’t get it.
No one cares. You're getting replaced.
Go find another job if this bothers you so much. Or just quit 3D art completely.
The Genie is out of the bottle now. AI can't be stopped.
>>
>>1034273
>Then why do you deny that AI tools can't also work independently?
i didnt, you're fighting your own imaignation
>Modifying Blender to get it to mimic Maya without ever using Maya's code is not a contradiction. Yet you tried to fight it.
reread the post retard, i said adding a UI element to an existing open source program is trivial and not comparable to building a new program from scratch. im not sure how a native english speaker could miss that honestly
>You have to prove there is any Zbrush code in Sculptforge
again, no i dont, because it doesnt affect me. it affects YOU and YOUR values. that or you're a liar who just doesnt want to admit its stolen.
and on that note, an accusation is not evidence, its based on evidence. the evidence is conjectural and circumstantial, but those are admissible in court and enough to convict on. you're the defence. if they're innocent, demonstrate reasonable doubt. unless, again, you just dont want to admit it's obviously stolen...

>If I modified Blender so it could handle the same million polygon counts as Zbrush, that can be done without ever touching Zbrush's code.
it can be done without touching any code because blender can already do that. have... you never used blender?
>How someone else uses a tool does not imply guilt for everyone who ever uses it
it does actually. carrying a knife is generally taken as evidence of intent to commit a crime with the knife.

using stealbot during a period of maximum hype for stealing to produce a suspiciously similar clone to an existing program in a suspiciously short period of time is the same kind of circumstantial and conjectural evidence that gets you convicted for intent with a knife

whatever man, if you want to use a broken failure of a clone that wont be supported for more than a couple of weeks you do you, im just going to steal the original that works and is already free
>>
>>1034284
>i didnt, you're fighting your own imaignation
>reread the post retard, i said adding a UI element to an existing open source program is trivial and not comparable to building a new program from scratch.
That's fighting my post. New programs or products can be built off existing ones.
I already gave the Unreal Engine example. Or Nintendo recycling Gamecube's hardware to help power the Wii.
You seem to be drawing a fake line at "open source" when it only hurts your point.

You can make a Maya clone, using an existing OPEN SOURCE program like Blender and thus you add more functionalities to it without ever touching Maya's source code.
Now what are you going to fight me on?

> the evidence is conjectural and circumstantial, but those are admissible in court and enough to convict on
You're literally using the SJW argument of "You hurt my feelings, thus you're guilty!"
No anon. You accusing someone of wrongdoing isn't proof of misconduct. That is circular argument.

>it can be done without touching any code because blender can already do that. have... you never used blender?
Zbrush can handle 100 million polygons without much effort. Blender hits 4 million before it starts to struggle.
You are not going to win this argument.

>it does actually. carrying a knife is generally taken as evidence of intent to commit a crime with the knife.
Is that why everyone who walks out of Walmart with a purchased knife is immediately thrown in jail?

You are both a luddite and an SJW scum for accusing people of false crimes.
>>
>>1034284
>>If I modified Blender so it could handle the same million polygon counts as Zbrush, that can be done without ever touching Zbrush's code.
>it can be done without touching any code because blender can already do that. have... you never used blender?
Lad Zbrush doesn't have a real 3d viewport but a projected img with depth, that's why it can handle 8 times the poligons that blender can with no effort, ofc blender could have a viewport that does something similar, but it doesn't, you could try to vive code it.
