I think ladybugs design is the last scrap of the more mature/edgy version in Austruc's head. His Mini Menance Ladybug concept art fits the vibe more. It feels like the jumpsuit is supposed to be a slightly sexier cross between a super hero's spandex suit and a magical girl's fabric outfit. It clearly attracted enough horny fans it had to be toned down in later seasons. That's why Ladybug had the worst costume. She's the only one basically naked.
