i want to know if i am in the right or wrong here. so i sleep early in my shared room with my brother. yesterday he wanted to work. it was 9:xx pm already, he turned the lights on to work, i told him to work in the living room. he said no because it is hot there and he wants to work under the AC in our room, we argued, parents stepped in and started defending him telling me "if you really wanted to sleep you would do it even in a disco", i was super mad, they wanted me to sleep in their room instead which i dont like as i am used to my bed, we argued for 1 hour and my brother won, i had to sleep with the lights on and i woke up after 3 hours due to high cortisol and bad sleep, couldnt sleep afterwards and fucked my sleep schedule. idk who is right or wrong in this situation. i also have exams these days so yeah. their execuse was "your brother got a new job he got to focus" but apparently its ok for me to fail exams but he cant fail his job

Both are in the wrong. No one who fixates only on his own wellbeing can be in the right, which is what you were both doing. If he was selfless, he would have just worked in the heat. If you were selfless, you would have gone with the flow and tried your best to sleep in your parent's room. Thoughts like "but I shouldn't have to compromise" are what create conflict and stress.

i think you are right

>Both are in the wrong
Fuck off, dumbass.

Your parents are clueless and dumb, and your brother is their golden son.

you must be a genuine imbecile to get emotionally invested and take sides in an anonymous internet story that you've only heard one side of
>>

Your parents sound like shitheads but honestly you could have put on a sleep mask or something to cover your eyes. I guess it depends on how bright the lights were. Did he use a small study light for his desk, or did he light the big ones for the entire room? It also sounds from this story that they treat him a little more favorable maybe? Do you feel like compromise and reason are a thing that usually works in your family or no?

>yada yada yada
Shut up, you talk too much

Dude, you put a towel on your eyes and then it’s dark. Birds know this shit. You are both wrong but you get fifty one percent fault.

he lit the big ones, compromise and reason do work 50% of the time

I think their opinion is heavily biased that he's supposed to pay them rent with his job. So fuck you, you deserve to be neglected until you also have a job to pay them rent with.

he doesnt pay rent

this has to be most third world post i have ever read on this site

You are entirely in the wrong. You could wear a sleep mask and ear plugs; you don't. You were offered the opportunity to sleep in another room where it was dark and quiet; you turned that down. That means sleeping in the bright, noisy room is YOUR DECISION. And obviously your brother can't work in a hot room with no air conditioning. You need to understand that your decisions have consequences: if you choose to remain in a bright, noisy room when you don't have to, the consequences of that are your fault, and yours alone. Own them.
