Military service member here. Last night I made a post on the r/securityclearance subreddit asking about something related to my security clearance. I hold a security clearance with the government. I made a post on an alt and didn’t mention anything about what I do at work, or anything that would be NDA covered. I just asked about my concern with my clearance (minor concern). I messaged the subreddit mods to approve my post for posting. About five hours later, they denied the post and deleted it (so the post was never posted publicly). The mod account commented on the post saying “discussing internal information is prohibited.”My question is, should I be concerned about them alerting government security agencies??? I sincerely believe nothing was classified or malicious in my post, but just their mere suggestion that this could be the case has made me super anxious. Or maybe it could somehow be spun in a way that I was attempting to break the rules or whatever. I love my job and don’t want to get in trouble, or worse, go to jail!!!Am I being paranoid?
>>34557089>should I be concernedYes. Review the rules around security clearances again, especially the section on when and to whom you are allowed to divulge your security clearance. Also I have reported this post to the FBI.
>>34557097Are you being serious?
>>34557089Assuming you're not just shitposting.Leddit mods wouldn't contact authorities, nor could they actually prove you hold clearance besides "well they said so and NO ONE lies on the internet"That's assuming you weren't retarded enough to list and of your credentials/anything that would dox you. If you did, then yeah you may be fucked but you kinda deserve it for being so retarded
>Security clearanceQuestion on that, not to hijack OP: but how anal are they about past weed usage? I quit using a year ago, will it be an issue?
>>34557124Lmfao.
>>34557129OP here. Anecdotally I have friends that admitted to smoking weed and still got their clearances. When I first joined it was generally a no-go but not as much anymore.
Unless you doxxed yourself, it's fine. They can't tie you to a clearance, role, site, or etc. Likely they're just trying to cover their own asses
>>34557089Nothing will happen. Even if it got reported for some reason, do you think the incredibly overworked DoD team that does security clearance is actually going to investigate? Fuck no
Bump
>>34558247>>34561124>AAA AAAA AAA IM A SCARED FAGGOT AAAAA IM SO SCARED AAAAFaggot. Did you reveal classified information? Yes or no? If no, you have nothing to worry about. It's a subreddit. The moderator is some guy in his 40s who holds a security clearance on the other side of the country. He doesn't have a red phone with direct access to the President. "Mr Trump Mr Trump Mr Trump this guy just tried to make a post on my subreddit and he didn't say who he was or where he worked or what he did or reveal any classified info of any kind at all but he had a question should I hit the RAPE WITH BAYONETS IMMEDIATELY BUTTON" get a fucking grip
>wojack>iphone imagenameyou deserve death, nothing less
>>34561188sorry I also forgot,>r*ddit
>>34561178Lmfao
>>34557126>>34557195I deleted some the associated account l, but after going through a Reddit data scrapper to pull up my deleted posts I have revealed biographical info in the past…my actual state and age, etc. Nothing completely concrete and obviously nothing classified but a super astute investigator probably could tie it back to me based on Reddit clues alone if they got super lucky. Am I just having a paranoid meltdown? There’s other embarrassing stuff on that account (photos of blood in my piss, stories of getting cheated on by my ex girlfriend, etc.) I am feeling tremendously anxious.
