How do I develop thicker skin? I know what I have to do in most social situations but it just gets me man. I can physically feel my body losing its shit even if I try to tell myself it's fine.

Realize that the only voice in your head that gives you insecurity is your own.
What you attribute people potentially thinking of you in your head are actually phantasms of your own mind.
As for other people, they don't have value unless they are beneficial to you. I don't mean that in some dark triad ruthlessness, I mean their opinions mean nothing on your life or experience.

For me what helps is understanding that most people are retarded, or don't know how to make accurate conclusions. They usually make quick, surface level judgements influenced by disgust or emotion because developing an accurate understanding usually takes a lot more time, energy and patience.
It makes it a lot easier to not take what others say too seriously.

If you think about the things people have said or implied about you that have pissed you off, most of their conclusions are probably retarded and at best half-true.

Sometimes someone smart and reasonable with a solid understanding of your perspective will say something shitty about you. In those scenarios, it's actually worthwhile to worry about or reflect on what they're saying.
