When the guy in front of me gave his name to the cashier girl, she commented that he looked like a Charles. Then he tried to guess her name, and so on. When girls offer up comments like that that aren't strictly necessary, does that mean they're interested? She could have just taken his order and left it at that, which is what she did with me.

Like layer one is girl just says "Hi" and awaits your order. Layer two is saying, "Hi, how are you", which invites a bit more back and forth. And then commenting about his name is even more so. I just got layer one.

Or does none of this mean anything? Am I wrong to believe that when a girl makes a comment that wasn't needed she must be at a minimum open to further interaction with you?

Yes.

It means a lot.

>when a girl makes a comment that wasn't needed she must be at a minimum open to further interaction with you?
Not always, but often times, yes.
